    As an American pool player (and a huge fan of both pool and snooker), I was surprised that the topic of the pocket structure was not addressed. On an American pool table, the pointed pockets are so much more receptive of the balls when they are being shot from near the rail. In pool, those are relatively simple shots. In snooker, players will try to develop a ball that is on the rail or simply play safe because the precision level needed to pot a ball is so high in snooker due to the rounded corners. I thought that would've come up at some point.

    • @paulgreen758

    I don't know anything about snooker or pool, but from an engineering standpoint a carbon cue will always be a massively more stiff cue. When designed and made properly of course. But like for like it will deflect far less under any circumstance, it will be lighter, and it will retain more of the energy after a hit or deflection. I assume only the initial deflection is really a positive there but I don't know the sport. But carbon fiber is one of the best materials to use for stiffness - you can almost think of it like glass in that it refuses to bend and will crack first. In reality there's more nuance, but it's a good start as to what makes carbon so popular in many products compared with fiberglass, plastic, metal or other options.

    Stephen...Correction!
    Like snooker pro's, tennis pro's "do not" use the racquets they endorse which are sold to the public.
    (Roger Federer's racquet; the RF 97 "may" be the closest to what he uses, but I'm still sceptical of that)
    The racquets the pro's use are generally the racquets they grew up using in the juniors,
    and once they turn pro and become a top player, they will sign a deal with one of the major racquet companies
    (Wilson, Head, Yonex, Etc) and they will crerate a line to sell to the public, while the pro will still use what he used to use
    ( a special racquet mold for them to make custom racquets for them)
    but they will paint the racquet to match the one they now endorse.

      Kinda. They use 'Pro Stock' special moulds, custom made, unavailable to the public. And yes. All the manufacturers have clones of the other brands 'pro stock'. I love 9 ball. And have got a few friends into it, although American Pool tables are not always that easy to find.
    Always seems to level out the playing field when there is a difference of skill between players.

    I played Karl first round of an English pool KO in a pub around 20years ago, I broke off, potted nothing and he cleared up but went in off the black so I progressed to the next round, it was an outrageous injustice 🤣

    @Stephen Hendry you say you first met Karl in China but I do remember the IPT in 2006 at The Venetian. You were playing Poker across the road and came over to watch Karl playing Ronnie. Jimmy was there too and I was watching with you. Remember you picking up Ronnie Cue after the game and knocking a few balls commenting about his tip and Ronnie told you it’s better if you use the playing cue not the break cue lol.

    Stephen you must try American Rotation pool. Balls 1-15 pocketed in rotation. First 1-10 balls are worth 1 point. 11-15 are worth 2 points. Total 20 points per rack. You can play for example race to 100 points. Rules are listed in internet👍🏻

    • @jlatirl4316
      @jlatirl4316 Před 5 měsíci

      When I played that the balls were worth their numbers meaning 120 points available at the start. Get more than 60 to win. You could pot higher value balls once you play the lowest available ball first. Great game rather than just potting easy balls. The table is crowded at the start of each rack so position can be tricky. Great game

    No pro tennis player uses a stock racquet; few dont even use the current models. Nadal uses a racquet they dont make any more, heavily adapted to suit his game - they released a ‘Rafa Spec.’ Racquet recently, but it’s still not the same.
