    The sexual versus emotional infidelity makes perfect sense. Sexual infidelity by a woman makes it less likely for a man's kids to be biologically his, in which case he is no longer creating or caring for his own legacy and has wasted his time, energy and resources. While emotional infidelity by a man makes it more likely that a woman will lose her source of security/resources and may no longer be able to secure a new one due to societal constraints or just being too old or unattractive in either biological or social preferences. Makes perfect sense from an evolutionary development standpoint. Keeping in mind that almost none of our emotions and instincts were developed for the world we live in. They were formed in and for a world in which we live in caves or simple hunter gatherer sttlements with extremely limited resources in many cases.

    People have ALWAYS (no exceptions!) said that men and women are different. But that's not the same as pretending that the differences are huge aside from genitals. The best relationships are between people who have a lot in common (rather than this "opposites attract" nonsense - we are not goddamn magnets).
    The truth is that the differences between men are larger than the differences between men and women. Just think of something like height. Sure, on average, men are higher than women - but a man can be anything from 1.60m tall to 2.10m tall, without being in the extremes, whereas the average height difference between men and women is just about 13cm. You can spot similar patterns within other areas, such as sex drive, stamina (as in, say, running a 10k distance) etc.
    Single people would have alot better chances if they stopped guessing "what (wo)men want" and started asking themselves "what do humans want?", simply because if you find something attractive in another person - chances are that that person will find the same thing attractive in other people. Like, a fit person would typically prefer a fit mate (maybe even within similar kinds of exercise), and not a couch potato.

    • @Pozywny

      dr paul conti states the single most potent indicator of a successful pairing is matching levels of generative drive. if you want to be on a farm, find a farmer partner. if you want to create music, find a partner that likes to create media. high performing ceo? find another high performing executive. etc this is why the basal advice for lonely men is to work on yourself. women take care of themselves better, they want a man who matches that energy.

    • @brianmeen2158
      @brianmeen2158 Před 20 dny +2

      Disagree completely with your 3rd paragraph. Womens wants in a relationship are vastly different from mens wants . If I was a single guy looking to attract women I had better find out what women in general prefer as opposed to what humans prefer.

    • @knooters
      @knooters Před 19 dny +5

      @@brianmeen2158 Thinking of "women in general" is probably the worst thing you can do. If you follow what you like yourself, at least you will attract people with similar thoughts and views as yourself. However, if you zoom in, you need to zoom in a lot more - as you are probably not looking for "women in general" - but women with certain attributes/qualities. And that sub-group will most likely have completely different needs than other sub-groups (or the statistical average). Like, personally I prefer women who are intelligent, creative, got some "drive", a modern view on gender roles - among other things. I'd be a complete idiot if I applied the same "what do women want" logic to these women than if I wanted, say, a trad-wife (which I assume alot of Chris' male fans want). The women I want find it sexy when men oppose to gender stereotypes as it shows some character, and also communicates that she won't be expected to sacrifice her carreer to be a stay-at-home-mom.
      The same thing goes the other way around, too. If a woman is interested in me, she'd be completely screwed if she tried the same tricks she assumes work on most other guys who comment on this video (I know I'm in the minority in this particular place on the internet).

      Here's an additional option:
      Imagine that the belief that men and women are equal is the foundation. On that foundation rest other beliefs which, when combined, form the modern feminist ideology. As a result it is critical to protect the foundation because without it the whole construction will fall apart.
      To explain a bit further: Men and women are equal, right? Right. So you look at the world and you see unequal distribution of power / resources between the two sexes. If the sexes are equal then where does such inequality come from? The answer is the patriarchal conspiracy which systematically oppresses women on all levels. Within the context of such arguements, when certain facts are hidden and forbidden then abuse of power by those in power becomes the only remaining logical conclusion *.
      Now you can see why men and women MUST be equal. Why this is the required foundation in order for other ideas to hold water. The moment you start to argue for biological differences you, by extension, are arguing against the oppression narrative.
      Tangent: This is also why feminism is powerless against the trans ideology. In order to oppose it, feminism must agree to the fact which, once agreed on, shatters its own foundation.
      * This is how ideologies function in general. In a scientific process you look at the facts and infer the conclusion. In an ideological process it's the other way around. The conclusion is the starting point, and from there facts are cherry-picked based on whether they contribute or detract from it.

    We all have our strengths and weaknesses. I always say: “if you’re not treating someone as an individual, you’re fuckin up!”
    That being said, some of our S&W are inherent. E.g. men’s upper body strength and women’s lower body strength. But that scale is sliding, there are women whom would chuck a male peer; and women who would get out legged by a man.

      Idk, women who are not “in shape” still do a lot of running around with house and kid things. There are different kinds of “being in shape”.
      When my kids were little, I didn’t prioritize going to the gym so my body wasn’t getting that type of toned look and I may have been carrying a few extra pounds but I definitely had the endurance to do what was necessary for the family and the house (which I know most men downplay as just pushing a button on various home appliances).
      Anyway, the couch potato man would be able to lift heavier things but I bet he really doesn’t have the same level of endurance. There are many variables like what job he does all day but don’t assume because he’s a man that he has more endurance automatically.

Or the human desire to feel loved, understood and appreciated by someone we care about? Isn’t that reason enough on its own to feel jealous? So again, I think the evolutionary perspective presented makes sense, but feels short sighted and actually a disservice to the wholeness of our experience and love itself to reduce it all down to parental considerations

    So strange that we're even having this debate. What has the world come to? Yes, there are exceptions, there always are. That doesn't mean society needs to fold to cater to a small minority.
    I'm big on acceptance and tolerance, people should be able to do as they please if it harms nobody else. However, that doesn't mean every edge case should be normalised; where does that end?
    As an aside... I heard a really interesting theory recently, that homosexuality is an evolutionary trait to protect the parents, particularly single mothers. Really made me think.
    In short, one study suggests that each subsequent child you have, especially if you're a single mum, decreases the probability of them being straight. Likely due to an intentional hormonal change (lower testosterone, for example). But, that's a chicken/egg debate really.
    It's thought that this is to counteract overpopulation, but also to provide said mother with assistance around the family home, as gay men especially are often more feminine and emotionally intelligent than their straight counterpart (while a gay woman is less likely to have children).
    Essentially, our bodies know that, to support a large family, we need a secondary caring figure, and will attempt to produce one if required.
    I have no idea how true this is, or whether it's backed by more than one study, but it sure gave me some food for thought!

    I'd venture that, on jealousy, men are often investing considerable resources so they see this as a 'potential bad investment' on their part (and don't want to take the loss they could have been investing elsewhere... dealing with the 'bad egg'). On the flip side, a lady may see this a threat to the resources a man is investing in her... that he may 'divide' or 'withdraw' his investments on what he considers a 'better investment for him' with another woman. I will note that, some men, with considerable resources can 'divide' a bit of it with other ladies and not significantly impact the investments his making in the 'primary' lady (aka: men with wealth and options... him exercising 'his options' is not as much of a 'threat' to the primary lady as long as he doesn't intend to 'withdraw' his investments to the primary lady... but most 'regular' men can't afford this scenario so it's more of a 'threat' to a lady... more reason for 'jealousy')

    • @JamesJones-mg3ts
      @JamesJones-mg3ts Před 13 dny

      Note: 'kids' are the man's 'prize'. Once they are in the picture, they are usually the primary focus of his investments (the mother is the 'cost' of having those kids... where he's now housing her and taking on her expenses to keep the family he forged for the best interests of the kids... not his as it's a sacrifice for a greater purpose). When a man perceives that is under threat by a lady's infidelity, it's a threat to his kids and the tremendously expensive arrangement he has with the mother for the sake of the kids (his primary focus). Particularly covert, when a lady defrauds a man by introducing kids conceived with another man as 'his own', that is a threat to his kids (dividing his resources from 'his' kids with 'other' kids that are not kids he should be investing in.... as only his kids are what he intends to invest in... and the 'other kids' are another man's responsibility). Men get pretty bent about that so that a motivation for jealousy. A lady can have kids with any man but she will have difficulty if she doesn't have them with 'one man' who is supporting them all (which is why defrauding that 'one man' is important to overcome that difficulty). A scenario like that can make a lady very jealous if she see's her charade under threat (all come crashing down and has to seek temporary resources from multiple men and give up her retirement plan with one man... getting cut off when the child support runs out is scary for a self-aware women... but it does seem a lot of ladies don't think about this until the child support is about to end... which can lead to a lot of jealousy when they see their former main partner recovered from her shenanigans and 'doing better' while she's taking a huge 'hair cut' financially). It's quite common for ladies to be 'jealous' of the partners they couldn't keep recovered while she's assuming the consequences of her own actions (she doesn't like seeing that man recovered while she's taking her 'delayed hits').

    In a world where we value intellectual tasks, if we double blind results in tests, let's say, without names, there's no way of knowing who's a man or woman, so in this regards there's no difference.
    Money is also an equaliser, we basically convert our physical and mental energy into money, so if we shift out perspective to that, and say "equal wage", men and women will just be money printers, the notion of gender becomes irrelevant because we value people's contributions as how they help the economy and whatnot.
    Also on the Internet, people are faceless and genderless so if the topic isn't about how men and women are different, everything blends in together.
