I think the most telling scene in the show was when Vision was walking to the edge of town where Wanda's spell wasn't as strong and he saw this poor lady caught on a loop putting Halloween decoration with a emotionless expression on her face, repeating the same gesture over and over again. While he was looking at her, perplexed of what she was doing, a single tear went down from her eye and that combined with her blank expression and repeated gesture, it really showed the horror she must be going through being fully conscious and have absolutely no control over her own body let alone her very life. Why would they drop that and go for the generic "hero/villain" trope I have no idea. The show had the enormous potential to set up Wanda as an interesting "fall from grace" type of villain, who's actions and motivations are way more complex than the traditional "I'm evil for evil sake and I'm here to do evil things" that we've seen a billion times. They can still do that I guess, but with the apologetic tone the show ended, I'm not optimistic.

That would have been an awesome setup for Dr Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Wanda loses her mind, becomes evil and wants to then merge or maybe destroy realities/dimensions (because if she can't be happy in her own reality, no other reality is allowed to), so Dr Strange has to confront her through various dimensions before she's able to complete her plan.

Wanda is essentially the embodiment of Hollywood and celebrities in general. They're more than willing to use their power and influence to push things on other people that they don't want, and expect to be considered heroes for doing so. They feel like any sacrifice, at any level, is worthy of praise, no matter what they did to get the thing that was sacrificed in the first place. The irony of the situation is that they are so unaware of that fact, that they literally write movies and TV shows about the same thing, and it doesn't occur to them that it's a massive mirror they're holding up in front of themselves.

Because he purposely tried to push Wanda to that point. He invited her to his facility to show her that they were going to turn visions lifeless body into a weapon. He knew she would want the body back to bury it, and that if he refused to give it back to her it would set her off and give him a reason to arrest/control her so he could harness her power. His evil intentions are revealed later, when it is discovered that he took a clip of her opening a door with her powers to make it seem like she broke into the facility and stole visions body, when they had it all along.
The issue with the show is that they were trying to paint Wanda in two different ways: 1. someone who is emotionally fragile and still learning her powers, therefore she is easily manipulated; 2. Someone who is already the strongest Avenger and does not need anyones help her to solve her issues. This is evidenced by the fact that Dr Strange was supposed to show up in the last episode to help Wanda learn how to use her powers, but they cut it because they didn’t want to undermine Wanda. The result is that there is no clear narrative for who Wanda is and what her struggle is.

Desperate for a normal life she went and committed the biggest act of genocide in her infamous “No More Mutants”. And seeing this series was the MCU’s version of House of M. A fantasy world made possible by a desperate woman in a mad quest for normalcy she will never get. The saddest part for me was the fact that both her children are figment of her imagination. But the villains journey is a tragedy at its heart.

I didn't get to walk away and I didn't get a spunky sidekick telling me that the people I hurt would never know what I lost. I don't think Wanda necessarily gets a pass on her actions in the show, but she doesn't have to deal with the aftermath either. She enslaved an entire town. Did Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness really commit to the evil Wanda route though? I would argue that the movie still tried to paint her as a tragic character, more deserving of sympathy than of judgement despite her repeated and needless crimes. Even as an out and out serial killer, that movie still tried to depict Wanda as a figure of pathos as we watched her kill people without mercy or remorse, including the (in this manifestation hilariously misnamed) Smartest Man alive, whom she asked if he had children before she killed him, meaning that she not only committed cold blooded murder (yet again) but, as someone who is obsessed with finding alternate versions of her own imaginary kids, had no issue orphaning someone else's kids, again needlessly since with her power she had other options than lethal force.
The movie tells us that Wanda is this tragic, redeemable figure, while simultaneously (and in my opinion unintentionally) showing us that she is a wholly irredeemable monster. This was not an intentional Evil Wanda plot line - this was WandaVision all over again, where the monstrously evil Wanda is once again depicted as sympathetic and, if not outright justified in her actions, then at least relatable and understandable, when in fact her character is anything but that. In the movie, this backwards approach to morality is made explicit at the end by Stephen Strange ruminating that, for all her many crimes, Wanda supposedly 'made things right in the end' (a similar form of words to those he used earlier in the movie with regard to her actions in Westview) by destroying the Darkhold, but what of the literal piles of bodies she left in her wake? They are no less dead because she burned a PG 13 rated version of the Necronomicon, are they? What restitution did she make to their families and loved ones? None whatsoever, so she did not, in fact, make any of her crimes 'right' at all, the movie just wants the audience to think that she did, and assumes people are paying so little attention that this inept little bit of writing sleight of hand will somehow fly, a proposition made all the more unlikely because, as already noted, they have already tried to pull the same trick before in WandaVision, and it failed miserably there too.
The idea that her final act to destroy the Darkhold, and sacrifice herself in the process, is some sort of meaningful redemption also falls flat because we see that flash of Chaos magic right at the end as the mountain is collapsing, and the character is already set to return. On prior form, this will doubtless be treated as having wholly offset her little murder spree the next time Wanda pops up, all because she burnt a few bad books. The studio will inevitably feign surprise when the fans don't go along with that ludicrous notion, and the usual round of fan baiting and blaming and hollow accusations of sexism will ensue.

Were we watching the same show? Everyone in Westview hated Wanda for what she did and she rode off into the sunset to live in isolation just like Hulk has done several times in the previous movies, and between Wanda and Hulk she isn't the one taking selfies and dabbing with kids in the movies after having smashed several cities with countless casualties in the past.

@@caldw615 And it is as good as stated by Monica that the people of Westview are wrong to hate Wanda, and don't appreciate the grand noble 'sacrifice' she supposedly made by... returning to them the very freedom she stole from them in the first place to create her fantasy world. It isn't their fault she tied the existence of her magic family to their suffering.
And lets not forget that the only city we see Hulk smash in the MCU he smashes... because Wanda messed with Banner's mind in Age of Ultron, knowing the likely outcome. Also, Banner went into isolation specifically to try to avoid the Hulk harming anyone else, only returning to live as the Hulk among ordinary people after he becomes Professor Hulk and is no longer a threat. Wanda has fled to the wilds sure... where she seems to be studying the Darkhold - a grimoire of dark magic - in the after credits sequence, an action very likely to put more innocent people in danger, not less. Far from trying to protect people from her clearly dangerous powers she cannot fully control, she is actively courting further disaster by doing one of the most reckless things she could possibly choose to do. It is the exact opposite of what Banner did to try to contain the threat of the Hulk.

I loved this show up until it's ending. So here's my alternative:
    - Agatha wasn't the villain. She saw Wanda's power, was curious to see if she could use it for her purposes, and is a watcher and occasionally subtly manipulates Wanda so she can see just how useful her powers may be.
    - The final fight is the Evil Government Man shoving in alternate Vision, and Wanda- having to fight a literal real but perverted version of the thing she loves, casts him away in a huge blast- we see that this mental break has caused her to become the Scarlet Witch (which Agatha mysteriously whispers as she sees it happen). Fake Vision finds him, does the same chat/ memory unlock. Wanda realises she is wrong, let's go of Vision, same end.
    - As Wanda leaves, Monica just says 'I am sorry for your loss', and Wanda just says 'Im sorry for what it made me do'. She flies off, same possible evil Wanda ending.

This review was nearly 100% How I felt watching it, I literally just finish watching the last episode, and the conclusion doesn't do it justice. That line about they'll never know what you sacrifice for them, I was like what the fuck, that she had to sacrifice a make believe family that she was with for a few days in exchange for actually letting hundred maybe thousand of people from the town retrieve their ability to think and act on freewill. Also that part about the children being made for it was really cheesy and overly doing it. I don't think any sane parent would tell their children it's alright take care of the military. The 2nd vision felt force. On the good notes, I love the costume especially that halloween wanda costume and that ending Scarlet witch armor suit at the end. I really love the attention that was put into making the 50's and 60's. The mannerism, the speech, the costume the attention to detail was really great. Also one last thing, didn't Wanda force Agnes to become the noisy neighbour for ever but then undid the dome and removed her magic, wouldn't that mean that agnes is free or the writer just forgot about her in the last moment.
I would give this Show a 6.9 on 10, I would say that if they were able to have a different conclusion and a little less of the leftist trio against the evil white man, I find it ironic truly because Wanda actually deserve to taken down. As soon as you actually see that she is aware of this but doesn't do anything, she has to be challenge by the villain witch, this is not what a hero does torture people that she release most of them from the city. I actually don't even know why they were able to arrest that guy at the end. Didn't they say they had ownership over the device, nothing they were doing was illegal.

There were several things I liked about the direction they took people.
First off, Kathryn Hahn got a great intro into the MCU. Both before and after her reveal, she gets to chew the everliving fork out of some scenery.
Second, it looks like it was a one off gag, unless they use Multiverse to bring him in later, but subbing in Evan Peters as Pietro was next level meta.
So Wanda had long been one of the most powerful Avengers (though on any given day, I guess you could say that about any of them except Natasha and Clint), and struggled to manage her powers in a way that helped more people than it hurt. She literally kicked off the Sokovia Accords. So you take her, put her in a situation where her grief enslaves an entire town, then allow her to learn how her powers work AND increase them by an order of magnitude? Not only is a heel turn a fair likelihood, but although you're sympathetic to her grief, we saw what she did, and with SWORD already divided over his to handle her and and entire town ready to tell the world how awful she is, I don't think she's going to be well loved anytime soon.
I also like the idea that they're setting Monica up for Secret Invasion. Her powers feel a little more earned than Danvers', even though neither one expected to be mutated by their actions. At least she acquired them trying to help Wanda and manifested them to save the twins. Plus she has way more humanity and personality than Danvers; we actually see her struggle and try to cope with loss.
Honestly, if the second movie end up in a showdown and she takes down Danvers and ascends the throne of Captain Marvel, I'd be a lot happier with the lineup. As it stands right now I'm interested in Spidey 3, Strange 2 and Guardians 3 and not much else of Phase 4, but I'd watch a lot more of Monica in Captain Marvel or the Avengers than I would Danvers.

I really do not understand why Heyward is that bad. He almost never does anything particularly bad. Some people point to him shooting the kids but the kids are a construct of Wanda's mind, they have super power, and were attacking Heyward and SWORD.

They leaned a bit too hard in making him evil. Think it would have worked better to focus on the fact that he was right to want to end it but trying to straight up kill wanda was just making it worse. Not sure why rebuilt vision had a mission to kill vision and not wanda?

I need an evil scarlet witch now! She's now Mmy favourite marvel hero, and I'd love for good writers to get Mme to hate her before redeeming her.
A third party manipulation, as well as a reveal of buried dark impulses would make for a relatively quick redemption for the audience. However, if her villainous side does vile enough things, then we could see the birth of new villains, anti-heroes, and factional allegiances, based off an evil scarlet witches legacy. We need imaginative writers who can deliver the goods though.

Yeah, I'm starting to think we had better female characters before the WOKE era.
They've simply replaced one stereotype with another.
From the whole "I saved your life so woman, I'm your god and I'm gonna shag you now" they've gone to "I'm a woman and I didn't kill you. I'm your goddess. Thank me, and simp for me, you jerk."
      They've achieved nothing.

You do know they were literally mentally enslaved for her to get what she sacrificed right. Really they were imprisoned so she could live in a fantasy land instead of dealing with her grief in a healthy, non-confrontational way.

@Winter Green then what was the point of Civil War? DC heroes caused a lot of damage but never really faced anything. All Superman got was a Trial that didn't lead to anything expect Superman getting bummed out and flying to some mountains. Batman's a vigilante so of course the law would shift if he gets out of line. But these heroes never faced anything in the movies that showed their reckless mistakes.
