Jim Malcolm & Darren Maclean - I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles). The Story of the Scottish traditional music show. - Hudba
Oh man, I look stupid right now crying. My wife and I used to go silly and sing this song while on the road travelling to wherever on a Saturday afternoon. All the memories just gushing in, super overwhelming. My darling, love of my life, passed away last year. Oh, if only heaven was that close, I'd walk 500 miles, and I would gladly walk 500 more.
I don't even know you but I'd walk with you just to keep you company...hope you find peace in your life..!!
Condolences for your loss.

It's not easy to do that. 100 was exhausting.
As I write this, I sit next to my wife as she lies helpless in a Neuro ICU in Charlotte, NC. As an Ulster Scot, but a Scot nonetheless, I truly needed this song right now. Thank you from the depths of my soul.
I don't know you, but I'm thinking of you and pulling for your wife. Please update us when you can!
Best wishes from Denmark.
Prayers from here for both of you.

My son-in-law is Scottish & Irish. He is struggling with cancer and this song is very uplifting for him. He listens to it every day.

I hope that he is still with us and recovering, may God give him strength...❤
I Hope he gets better and the good thing is tell your son that I’m Irish and Scottish because I am ❤️
The Proclaimers created a gem of a song……it’s 2021 and EVERYONE is still singing this amazing song!

My late husband was a Scotsman and I am proud to have strong Scotch/Irish heritage too. He was adorable in his kilt outfit. How I loved that man!🖤
I think you were probably very happy together. Glad you had each other and were together for however long the time was that you had.
@@KittyStarlight Thanks Kitty. I had been a widow to my first husband who was a wonderful man. I had sworn I'd never marry again, but 4 years later, God had other plans, thankfully. They were alike in their character and morals. We visited Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, where his relatives from Scotland had migrated after the Highland Clearances. I wish we'd had the chance to visit Scotland. Take care!

This song will always be better in a Scottish accent.

We are currently on a cruise in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. We had an onboard party yesterday and this song was played. I've heard it before. I swear every Scotsman got up to dance and it was very energetic! Great song. Great people.
I LOVE the way they speak
I saw The Proclaimers sing this at Edinburgh Castle in front of a home crowd last year. Trust me. That was the best version.
😃 Yeah! That had to be awesome! 😃
Absolutely without a doubt
But.. Wouldn't it have been better if they came on and said..
"Today we are looking through the triangle window, and what's there kids? It's a wee song about walking a lot.. Here we go"...

Aye, but you have to take a wee peep underneath the kilt to see if the person wearing it is a true scot. If he's as naked as the day he was born he' the real deal!
I'm Scottish. I was always told that I was Irish due to my red hair and green eyes. I took a DNA test and found out that I am almost 100% Scot. I love this music.

As an American Scotsman this song touches a part of my heart and soul that bagpipe music touches. I am proud of my Scottish heritage and me and my children went to Scotland in 2006 and I have never met a more welcoming, warm, and generous people.

Great to read your comment. I left Scotland in 1978 but am fortunate enough to visit every year to a "wee hoose" I still keep there. I love the countries in which I have lived, but my heart still pulls be back to Scotland. Alba gu brath
I would love to go to Scotland. Maybe there is a Scotland in Heaven. If not, my family of Scots are there waiting for me.
As someone who possibly has adhd, I’m always on the lookout for new songs to listen to. Music is how I cope with possibly having it. The more peppy the tune is, the better I feel.
I'm somewhat similar: i can't get into a game without it having a good soundtrack. if there's no good songs in the game, I fail to get into it.
The second guy without guitar loving his accent

This song is best while wearing a kilt.
Keaton Smith, And WAR is best fought while wearing a kilt.💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
My Grampa fought with The Scottish Highlanders in WWI. His brother died beside him, but, red-headed Lauchlan Stewart survived a long life, albeit, he came home from the war with only one arm and several deep and long scars.
The man loved to sing! Grampa patiently taught the milkman’s loaned horse to plough with only one arm...and the horse would come trotting to Grampa when he sang out across the pasture.

It sounds very much like a studio recording with pitch correction. I'm pretty sure they're lip syncing here. In fact at 0:19 I can hear the undesired artifacts from autotune. When he says "goes along".

BRILLIANT SONG--never grows old never sounds dated or stale and always brings a gleam to your eye.
I was doing one of those charity walks - the Komen Breast Cancer 3 Day where you walk 60 miles in 3 days. I had speakers hooked up to my backpack and was blaring this song as I was walking along the route. The best part was people along the route cheering us on and singing along with the chorus and especially the "da-da-da-da" parts. It really lifts the spirits when you've walked 18 miles in a day, your feet hurt and you're trying to make it that last couple of miles to that day's finish line. This is an amazingly powerful song. The first 9 years I did this walk I logged the first 500 miles and in almost a decade since then I have added 500 more. I have literally waIked 1000 miles to this song!
When you're Indian but you're singing the song in Scottish accent in your head

Love this song. It's a song that's perfect for weddings, wedding anniversaries, military life and a lot more. Loyalty, dedication, love and a whole lot of other stuff in one song.
On a lighter note, I want to see this song sung in Scottish Gaelic. I think that would be amazing.
I'm learning Gaelic right now. The song has been translated, but I don't think the lyrics really fit the tune:

I had heard this song "in the background" for many years. Then one day I noticed how The Proclaimers pronounced the word "thowsand" and I was really hooked. There's something about a Scots accent ...
Give them (The Scots!) their due, the are a strange race, but they have given the world so much for a small nation and their self pride is very much deserved and admired by us all 💪👍
Strange?

@@pamberinehondo9447 I see what you mean. My late husband was 'different' in that he never took the easy way to anything and was very frugal, in that, if it could possibly be repaired, that's what he would do. He had a soft, sweet side, (to me), but was a man's man. He was an industrial engineer and very smart. He was a wrestler in college, played football, baseball and had a 'warrior' side to him. He was smart, brave, stubborn and courageous, especially when he became terminally ill in 2019. He had a strong Faith and he taught me how to accept what comes your way, head on. At the end, as I held him in my arms, I told him that he didn't have to fight anymore battles and that's what he needed to hear. He was my 'William Wallace'.🖤⚔🏹
