My favourite motorhome! Carthago Super Lightweight.

  • The Carthago Super Lightweight is currently my favourite motorhome subject to the provisos I mention in this video. The reasons why the Carthago Super Lightweight is my favourite motorhome are due to its dimensions, only 212cm wide, the double floor and overall construction.
    For the 2023 season, the Carthago Super Lightweight has been made lighter than before and despite its dimensions it offers a feeling of spaciousness. The new optional casablanca world of style is made to go with the slender, A-Class motorhomes in the Carthago c-compactline model series. Casablanca is the combination of the Noble Cherry furniture decor and front panels in high gloss ivory on the overhead storage compartments and the kitchen drawers. In conjunction with the made-to-measure furnishings for the habitation width of just 2.12 metres, the living area of the slender c-compactline now makes an even airier impression. Anyone with a preference for furnishings with somewhat a more classic look can opt for the standard “epic” world of style.
    The major strengths of the c-compactline have been retained. They give it a special position as a premium motorhome among the slender A-Class vehicles: fully-fledged double floor with an AL-KO low frame, super lightweight construction with an amazingly light weight in driveable condition, and all of the features of the Carthago DNA.
    In model year 2023, Carthago is producing three layouts in the c-compactline. The extremely compact, just 6.41 metre long I 138 DB with transverse double bed in the rear, the 6.67 metre long I 141 LE with single beds and the Vario swivelling washroom, and the I 143 LE with single beds and a combined washroom with a separable round shower. All three versions have the typical Carthago changing room with room dividing function, and the spacious lounge seating area.
    I live in a motorhome full time and travel around Europe in it. I spend most of my time in Poland, Germany and Italy. Vanlife is my life.
    In my CZcams channel, I present reviews of recreational vehicles. Here you will find campervans and motorhomes from the cheapest camper vans to the most expensive luxury liners, from various companies including Hobby, Hymer, Carthago, Westfalia, Wingamm, La Strada, Frankia, Wavecamper, Maurer, Dreamer, Itineo, Rapido, Clever Vans, Pössl, Bürstner, Niesmann Bischoff, Action Mobil, Reisemobil Manufaktur, Robeta, Trigano, Challenger, EuraMobil, Karmann Mobil, Laika, Forster, Mobilvetta Design, Affinity, Globe Traveller, Benimar, Roller Team, Adria, Bocklet, Woelcke,Tourne, Megamobil, VW, Mercedes, CS, Renault, Ford, Fiat, Carado, Sunlight, Baileys, Chausson, Balcamp, Knaus, Weinsberg, Murvi, Bliss, Mitsubishi, Woelcke, Reisemobile Bürow, Holzmobil, Giotti Line, Florium, Fleurette, Ahorn, Westfalia, Space Camper, Orange Work, Concorde, Womondo, Protec, Auto Sleeper, Dethleffs, Ilusion, Gehocab, Malibu, Pilote, Wild Ax, Vantage, Bresler, Tom's Fahrzeugtechnik, Morelo, Swift, Carado and others.
    I do this by regularly attending trade events such as CMT Stuttgart, Abenteuer und Allrad, Caravan Salon Dusseldorf, Warsaw Caravan and Camping Show and sometimes others.
    I cover equipment, including 12v electrical equipment and talk a lot about lithium batteries.
    I also show some of the places I have visited in Europe in my own motorhome, as well as the places you can stay at! I try to give as much coverage as I can to official campsites and free places which I use for overnighting. Therefore you can find here the aire or stellplatz that you are possibly looking for.

      Alan shows every van with the unbiased worst parts. As the viewer it also trusts the presenter rather than getting money from each brand.
      I love that because the truth is that no one vehicle is 100% so
      it’s a compromise.

    The only answer is to design and build one' s own. Or get some clever person to build it. I agree with all your objections. Especially the little gap. One of my main bugbears with anything is cleaning it! Cheers Alan.

    When will manufacturers learn that they must provide two refrigerator alternatives? AES or Compressor?
    Also gas or diesel heating?
    These are things I will never understand.

    We've been comparing loads of motorhomes online and from the shows and this is simple put...the best motorhome available...as compact as a panel van conversion (bar an Argos pencil width)...very easy to drive and park, yet offers a proper lounge, proper beds (yes we like the drop down for family and guests...or if we want to sleep separately)...beautiful quality, a flat floor throughout, a decent bathroom with plenty of storage and amazing for its size...the ability to store what you want away from your living space in the enormous garage...and ofcourse to top all this off...properly set up for all year round use....other vans try the same...but nothing is as good as the carthago 138

    Hi there, do you have a video or have you seen a 5 seater campervan or a very compact and small motor home that would cater for 2 adults and 3 children?

    • @VanlifewithAlan
      @VanlifewithAlan  Před rokem +1

      If you want sleeping for five then that is going to be hard in a campervan, however there are small motorhomes under seven metres that can accommodate six from companies such as Rimor, Carado, Sunlight, Ahorn, Forster and others. To get the extra sleeping space, you might need to go for an overcab motorhome.

    Thanks Alan, Great independent presenting again. I love the width at 212cm rather than most at 230 to 250. The length is not is issue on the road (up to 7.5m) but width makes a big difference in narrow roads.
    DF 👍 Garage 👍 Remove front bed 👍
    Would like to know the price there? Also the Gross weight which not to be confused as super lightweight means MIRO but the Gross weight could be 4250kg giving more payload? Even at 2902kg by time put all the water additional batteries leccy bike solar panels awning etc etc it would be too tight at 3500kg.
    All the best.

  • @lfv-kl1yd
    @lfv-kl1yd Před 9 měsíci +1

    Frankly, 110K is not justified, far from it: there are many MH that have more or less the same weight and -30-40% in price. Unless someone believes that a flat piece of furniture and a fluffy sofa are enough to make the difference. Anyway thanks Alan for the truthful presentations which are the MUST of your channel.

      There are not many options for taller people, but Carthago lives in modern times as one of few. Alan here never mentions sizes (think of that what you want) but headroom is 1.98 across the all ranges and bedsize in this smallest model is still 1.96!

      @@tip0019 Ok ... Make the difference for people of height more then 2 mt ... that in percentage are far less then 0,1% orf overall EU population .... IMHO (but really my opinion 😅) it is not a valid or so good discriminant... 😉

      @@VanlifewithAlan Well, that is at least as amazing as the motorhome itself! I think about how long people will be willing and able to pay such prices... It is to be mentioned that this car has no charging booster, no inverter, no solar panels, no Lithium batteries, no awning and only an absorption fridge (and I guess no Diesel heating and, of course, no Alde water heating). What would be the final price (with Diesel heating)? Maybe close to 150k EUR...
