I took rick’s acting classes a few years ago. Truly an amazing man and a great teacher. I will never forget him not only for being part of my childhood (tf2) but also being an amazing teacher. Fly high Mr. May, i will miss you!

Most well-known for voice acting Soldier from Team Fortress 2 (aka TF2) and Peppy Hare and Andries from Star Fox 64, Richard J. May also performed in theatre plays, acting and has even been in military services in Japan! Passing away last year on April 8th, TF2’s game corporation, Valve, updated the game on May 2nd with the addition of a Soldier statue on every map for the gamers and fans to pay tribute.
Rick May’s TF2 character and voice has been used in many online content and no matter the future holds, there will always be tributes long after our loved ones’ passing... and the passing of people [like Rick] we never met (but they’re still awesome). As a TF2 Soldier quote for a last word:
“Amen.”

Hard to believe we met Rick in the famous "do a barrel roll!" line from Star Fox long before TF2 existed.
We grew out of or did more things past the N64 and our childhood, and met Rick once more as a teen or more, in the crazy world of the mercs, where once again Rick put on a legendary, memorable performance, as the Soldier.
We was with us then, and he was with us now. Godspeed, this wonderful man.

Rick May's death has passed almost a month and I still can't move on about his death, it's seriously so hard. I first player TF2 last November 2019 and I got attached to every character in the game so quickly, they really have a joyful characteristic that you can feel towards them, then a tragic news came and I felt my heart being crushed, even though I only get attached to the characters "in game", somehow there's this special spot in my heart that the voice behind that character has something to do with my developed love and attachment to them, and that one persok is Rick May.
I'm really happy Valve did this tribute to him, it made me feel that Valve still cares about the community/family.
R.I.P Rick May! You were good sir, real good, definitely the best!

That was a lot more than a 21 gun salute. It was what he deserved for giving us so many decades of fun & enjoyment. And because TF2 will never die (no matter how hard they try to kill it), he will always live on in our memories, both past & present.
