- Just after little Juliette was born, we set out as a family to look into an event involving Marc's father that took place in 1937, not far from our chateau.

Great story of a childhood adventure! My husband has a memory of when he was about 6 and was left behind at a rest stop during a cross-country move (it was a convoy of multiple cars, 4 adults and 10 kids) --- but it wasn't a charming village with still-recognizable places. However, it was still such a strong memory that he spoke of it during his dad's funeral, about how confident he was that "my daddy will come" - not a dry eye in the church.
Oh how poignant Lisa!
How lovely to go back and revisit a place that meant so much to your dad Marc. It must have been moving to be able to stand in the same place he did. I wonder if there are any residents of that village that have passed on the story of how a family of seven showed up on a snowy day 80 years ago? 💕
Great memory your father passed on to you Marc, too have the photos reaffirms the story. Plus being so close to home and actually bringing it to life, matching photos to location is so neat. 🇨🇦❤️
Wonderful family memory to pass down, especially now that you’ve found the exact locations where the pictures were taken.
Marc your family was so lucky to have a good hearted lady to put them up ,
Blessed!
As a South African I so enjoyed your trip in the snow , as snow on the ground here is so rare an occurrence and never in that abundance unless on mountains and very high ground . I love family history and you are so lucky to have your father and uncle still around to bring the old photos to life and as you point out you can continue the memory further down the generations . All in all a very enjoyable post !
What an enchanting story! Was anyone living in the house where the "Seven Unexpected Visitors" stayed? So glad the crepes cafe was open! 🥰
I wondered the same thing!
What a lovely story, memory, and coincidence! I’m so glad that you could find the exact house where they stayed, and the other landscape photo location. ♥️
It’s so fortunate that your grandparents took those photos to commemorate the event.
Did you check to see whether the same family might still live in that house? If they do, I bet they would love to know that the kind act of their grandparent or great grandparent was still remembered so vividly by the children, and that the story of their generosity will be passed down to further generations. 🙂
One day I think we'll investigate it, but it could be tricky because it's not an exceptional enough occurence for somebody to have passed down to another generation. But it would be lovely if we could know who was involved!
Very true! But the owner will know whether the house belonged to their family back then. And if so, they may enjoy knowing that what was to them an inconsequential act of kindness made a big impression on those on the receiving end. You may not add to Marc’s story, but you could return a lost story to their family. And I know you agree that acts of kindness often have a bigger impact than people often realize. And I know sharing this knowledge about kindness is important to both of you. ♥️
@ Peni Haver I was thinking the same thing. Even if it is not the same family, just knowing that your house was part of such a wonderful story would be exciting! They could then pass the story down to their family. Good times all around!!!
I think it is exceptional,,the woman that took them in would surely have told others about the time 5 strangers stayed with her for 2 days! I love it,,hope you got good family pic while you were there too! Connections are so important!! 🥰❄️
How absolutely wonderful- such a beautiful memory. God bless all.
It’s delightful to see how much you appreciate your family history.
What a lovely memory and family outing. Such beautiful scenery along the way. Loved the you are here maps for orientation. Thanks for sharing 😍😘
Thats is wonderful to visit and able to find the location. I just recently drove my 103 year old pop around were he grew up on a farm and went school and he was able to tell us a lot of family stories. That's something you always treasure. 😊😊
How wonderful!
Hope you recorded him telling the stories or at least wrote them down. 😊
What a great adventure and to have had your grandparents stay with your grandmother and your very young father and to had been stranded so close to where you live so long ago very interesting story how things turn out.Thank You for sharing your family history with all of Us ….. Blessings to Your Family soon spring will be here
How wonderful that you can go back and walk where your father and grandparents walked. Brings them closer some how.
It does. It was a very special discovery for us!
What a great story! Perhaps you could enquire in the village about the family who owned the house where your family stayed. Perhaps you may find a descendant of them to meet up with.
What a great family story to pass down to your children. It’s even more memorable that you’re living just a short drive from where they broke down. Beautiful scenery. Thank you for sharing your family adventure. Hugs to you all. xx
I can't imagine being stranded with a young family in the mountains! Stories such as this are priceless. How wonderful that you ventured out with your little ones to find some family history.
I know - I can't even imagine it with just two children and all of the modern comforts of phones and heated cars, let alone back then!
Marvellous memory ❤️ Yes do share this amazing memory with your children , so that it stays forever fresh and vibrant. Enjoy the spring now !
What a fun adventure.....thank you for taking us along with you!! 💝
What a great story Marc!!! Clement is so cute. And little Juliet is adorable!!!! She’s so tiny. Thank you so much for sharing your story with us. Love from me in California.💜🤟🏻😎🇺🇸🇺🇦🕊
Lovely story, with real people, not long ago. Courageous grandparents and grandchildren...e
I always enjoy your videos, beautiful family! Loved this piece as my dad was born in 1937! We are celebrating my dad's 85th this month! We were in the NC mountains over the weekend and a snowstorm and strong winds swept through. We were in 2 beautiful apartments (Air B& B) near where 3 of us attended college, in the small old town with 4 generations. Wonderful 3 days of beautiful memories! All the best!
How lovely!
Wow how wonderful to have linked the passed with today
Wonderful memories🤗
Love Sue❤❤❤🇬🇧❤❤❤
Beautiful story … and you have a lovely family! Yes, your grandparents may have remembered it quite differently than your father at age 6, and his siblings. ;)
Absolutely charming, Marc.

Very sweet, a glimpse of history, i love that it hasn’t changed much. Bon Camino
Your INTRO is the only one, of all the Vlogs I am subscribed to, that I watch EVERY TIME and sometimes twice. It is so darn cute and so well done.

Such a lovely story. Thank you for taking us on this journey.
What a lovely story and neat adventure to follow-up on with your family. Thank you for sharing!
Lovely story and amazing to see the locations now; they have hardly changed! 🤩💝
Did you knock on the door of the house where they stayed? Who knows, it might be still owned by the same family and they would love to hear about the generosity of their (great)grandmother.
All in all, very exciting 👌🏾
Sending you warm greetings from The Netherlands 🇳🇱
💛💙💛💙💛💙💛💙💛💙💛💙
I think another time we would like to try and find out if anybody remembers the incident for sure!
how cool that you guys could find and visit the area! I wish that my family had some stories like this! THanks for sharing.
What a great trip - but in 1937 that must have been a huge undertaking - those old photographs were amazing. Thanks for sharing from Brisbane Australia.
I know! It’s no wonder Marc’s dad had such vivid memories of it!
So interesting and moving to listen to your adventures. I thoroughly enjoy every episode. Thank you for sharing your wonderful life.
A beautiful trip down memory lane-well for the memory of your family and a beautiful story to tell your kids. I hope at some point you’ll meet up with a family member from the family your parents met while up there. Amazing photos and something to be cherished-🦋❤️🦋
How much Juliette has grown in the last couple of months!
I know!!! I couldn’t believe how small she was when I was editing this! Feels like she has been huge forever!
What a magical journey! To find the exact street and landscape so many years later is totally remarkable and you must have been so excited when your discovered it. Bravo!! ❤️❤️
To be fair there's only really one street in the entire village so it didn't take much finding!!! But it was really cool to work out exactly where it was taken!
Wow, amazing to find the locations! Haha you're senses of humour serves you well.
Wow.. I saw St. Felicien.. in Canada.. 300 miles north of Montreal, same name.. famous in 1960's for zoo and girl guide and scout camps at Lac St. Jean in Alma
They were probably settled by people from this area - I didn’t know about the zoo or the guides - how fun!
Thanks for the trip to the snow and mountains. BTW Marc luv your Canada Goose coat, a must have here in Canada.
What a wonderful video! I especially loved the drive there and beautiful vistas. So nice you were able to unravel the mystery. 🥰
What an amazing story, thank you for sharing it with us xx
Very cool to be able to retrace the footsteps of Marc's family....and to be able to tell Clement how he didn't like his hands in the snow.
Love watching your family grow.
Lovely video Amy! Your little ones are very precious. Cheers from Montreal, Canada.
That was a great true story thank you very much for telling us xxx
How wonderful that you were able to ´solve´ the mystery. What a wonderful lady giving help to Marc´s family.

That was a fascinating story! Such kind people to open their home to 7 strangers. Glad you were able to visit the town and see it for yourselves.
What a lovely memory.
It was so nice to find out where it happened!
What a wonderful memory of the kindness shown to your fathers family in a time of need. I wonder if you could find descendants of the woman they stayed with?
It would be fun wouldn't it?
Wow beautiful scenery and lovely village very interesting vlog wonderful history thank you for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it
I love solving little memories like yours. Hope you took a picture of yourselves at the same spot, same place different time. 👍😊
We tried but it was so cold that my camera phone crashed and wouldn't turn back on!!!
@@Chroniclesofrosieres o my that must have been so cold. I'm sure you will get one in the future when it's not quite so cold. Best wishes to you all. Jenny.
What fun! We’re having a snow storm in Tennessee as I’m watching this. One day you’ll have to recreate that photo with your own kids!
We really wanted to that day but the camera died just before we had time!
Lovely family story did you knock on the door for anymore information of who the good samaritan was. Snow looked beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Xx
Thank you for sharing you wonderful story mark , really enjoyed the mountain scenery and your beautiful babies xx
Glad you enjoyed it
Great family history. And so lovely. God bless you and your family. Babys so sweet. 💓
You are so kind
What a brilliant piece of good luck. The whole family walking so far over the mountain road to land in a village where great hospitality was shown. What a caring mechanic to get the car fixed as he did . Marc - no wonder you are so determined and relentless in your drive to revitalise Rosieres, those stoical genes have propelled you to this wonderful spot in Ardeche where Amy, Clément, Juliette and yourself are creating a wonderful life. Clemént & Juliette have inherited great genes from two adventurous parents. A truly lovely film of how our past memories have a great effect , your father had a great adventure. Keep safe. 🌻🌻🌻🌻😘
Thank you Kathryn!
Loved that excursion with your very sweet family.
Thank you 🤗
I love adventures like that trying to recreate photos from the past and see what changes there may have been. Our house is from the 1880’s and I love finding old photos. There is a huge pine tree on our front lawn that was a tiny tree in the 1880’s. We know it is the same one because of the shape.
I also love your channel enough to watch a 2:30 minute ad! ♥️
I love this!!
Charming - thank you
This is so cool! Well done! I’m sure your grandparents must have been so stressed out with the car breaking down, a war going on and 5 children in tow. It will be a wonderful story to pass down.
What an adventure!
This is such a fascinating story. Thank you for sharing. 🙂🇨🇦
Really glad you enjoyed it!
Love the story.
Oh my goodness - this video 🙏🏻 what a wonderful wonderful story!!

Great fans from the beginning when Stephanie introduced Marc and his family home.
Congratulations.
That was a lovely story to hear. Memories that we hear over and over again from our family members can be the best! 🥰
That’s so fun! But I agree, the parents probably didn’t find it just so exciting with 5 kids in the winter there 😄
What an amazing story! Thank you for sharing with us and taking us along!
Isn't that grand! I am so pleased you found the place; and i bet Dad was helping every step of the way💝💖💞

Absolutely lovely thankyou for sharing darlings xx 😘 ❤️
Thank you my dear!
What a beautiful drive! You are very lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world!!!!
We never tire of it!
What a lovely trip up the mountain! Family stories like this are so important. the comment about that area being the only place where your grandparents didn't have any relatives really caught my attention. It has been my experience to find unexpected relatives in the most unusual places. Your grandparents trip in 1937 with 5 children was definitely an adventure. How fortunate they were to find a kind lady who took them in. Plus, mechanics have been known to work miracles in such dire circumstances to help a family on their way. Thank you for sharing the photos, too. My grandfather had a car like that and cross-country trips in the USA of thousands of miles to visit family. Once I had a young family, my heart went out to my grandmother(who died so early) how amazing she was to take care of babies on those trips. This mini-vlog definitely lightened my heart today.
I’m glad you enjoyed it! And thank you so much for sharing your own memories!
Great story, so nice that you went to the village!
That was a great and lovely story
Thank you!
