I ended up taking the controller box off of the frame and reattaching it with Gorilla double-sided tape (for now). Seems to be a very strong bold. I will venture to find plastic screws to compliment the tape. Great find and thank you! I never had the issue, and not never will :)
Hi, I had the same issue with the z-probe which like yours, was related to that control box earth (-ve) connection. After contacting Sainsmart about it they advised using plastic washers so the screws couldn't contact the cover. I took a small step further and drilled out the holes in the cover to take a small o-ring to keep the screws from touching the cover and using some fibre washers (didn't have any plastic washers). I have since come across your video and have t say that your fix is much better. I think I will do it your way as well. Well done.
Glad the video helped dont forget to ask sainsmart for a refund of $20 because you are rectifying the problem yourself. This was Sainsmarts offer to me and they said they would to anyone else that contacts them. Cheers Tony
Hi Tony, I am now having the same spindle problem that you describe here with my 4040, I have contacted Sainsmart. Also I have found the supplied spindle to be pretty much useless. Do you know of a real 52mm spindle motor without that 5mm connection to the er32 collet?
Hi Jim, is it the touch off probe problem, you are right the spindle is not much good I am uploading a video tomorrow with my upgraded spindle and a power box for the spindle so tune in if you can tomorrow evening. Cheers Tony
