    This is the method that works for straight smooth edges.
    Thanks
    I tried burning string. But it is very uneven and criss cross breaks happen even after scoring with diamond cutter

      Yep. This is definitely the way to go. I'm actually shooting a video right now about my set up and method. I should have it uploaded in the next couple of weeks.

    You know there's some easier way to cut the bottle? wrap a cotton string soaked in alcohol around the area you'd like to make the cut, wrap it some loops around and light the string up, let it burn until it goes out by it self and then submerge the bottle into ice water, if you could make the water the nearest to 0°C the better, it will crack it automatically along the heat path and then you just have to sand it, the cutting is smoother than with the grinder.

      @cuttingcocktails  Před 4 měsíci +6

      Thanks for the comment. I'll be utilizing different cutting methods in future videos. The problem with the burning string method is that it doesn't always break perfectly. And with really thick bottles, like many of the ones I've been cutting, it won't break at all. At least that's been my experience. I'll give it another whirl, though. Thanks again for the suggestion.

      I’m going through this process right now. But I’ve made a jig that scores the bottle first with a glass cutter and then I’m going to do the burning string cold water. Safety glasses and gloves, wish me luck. 🤞🤞

    Unless you have the proper tools already then forget it and buy your classes from a shop. Remember you will need to do the work 2, 4 or 6 times. How long have you got.?

    • @cuttingcocktails
      @cuttingcocktails  Před 6 měsíci

      I agree there's a steep learning curve and some costs if you want to use power tools. However, if you just want to cut a circular bottle, you can buy a cheap glass cutter for around $30 and sand it by hand. It's certainly time consuming, but a rewarding process. Cocktails taste better out of a homemade glass. :)

      @@cuttingcocktails how many hours work in total beginning to end?

    • @cuttingcocktails
      @cuttingcocktails  Před 5 měsíci +2

      Maybe two. Sanding is the slow part so it really depends on the thickness of the glass. If you watch the Aperol video I posted, that's cheap, thin glass. I did that bottle start-to-finish in about forty-five minutes. Took me longer to learn how to fold the paper airplane. On the other hand, I'm about to upload a video where I cut a Johnnie Walker Blue Label bottle. The glass was absurdly thick. Start-to-finish, took me about five hours. Hope this helps.
