    Does it matter what direction you use the cutter head and or bottle either clockwise or counterclockwise? What I’m wondering is more around the cutter head if there’s a “correct direction” or not?

    I just used this method on about 15 bottles. I got 6 of them to break on the score line. The others were ruined b/c a crack developed from the score line to other parts of the bottle. I don't think this is a bad way per se, I just wish there was a more repeatable method with better results.

    Ben, I assume you had to drill through the hand glass cutter head. Where and which glass head is that to mount to the board. Thanks for the video.

    Would it work to immerse the bottle in hot, then cold water baths?

    • @BensWorx
      @BensWorx  Před 6 lety

      +Herb Hoover Hi Herb, you need super cold water to shock the glass and if it doesn’t work the first time the heat transfer from the hot bottle turns the water tepid and will need to be replaced with cold water again

    Can you show how to cut top of a carboy (a wine making jug)? I want to cut one to use as a fish tank. Am worried about how to maneuver due to its size.

  • @transformationallioness5698

    Did you secure the wood down using a vice or something please? You looked like you need to push against the blade fairly hard. Finally, the blade cutter that you used, did it have screw holes on it? I could only see it screwed into wood and don’t quite understand how you removed it from the metal handle to then attach it to the wood!? Thanks 🙏🏼

    • @BensWorx
      @BensWorx  Před 4 lety +1

      Yes i clamped down the wood, the cutting tool i used had a head that you could unscrew and i drilled a hole in it and screwed it to the wood

    Is it not easier to dip the bottle into boiling/cold water rather than pouring it over?

    • @BensWorx
      @BensWorx  Před 6 lety +6

      +Neil Stridiron Hi Neil the heat transfer from the hot glass will soon turn your cold water into warm water and it will not shock the glass enough to break. That's my experience with dipping

  • @insomniahobbies

    Great video, only one problem. How do you prevent the sticker from getting wet. if you get it wet the sticker will come off. I tried clear coating it. you can't tape it off cuz then the sticker will come off. Do you or anybody have any ideals?

    • @rebekahbarragan67
      @rebekahbarragan67 Před 3 lety

      Mod podge it first

    • @ELCADAROSA
      @ELCADAROSA Před 3 lety +1

      Try two layers of tape.
      The first layer would cover the bottom of the label, but lay it with the adhesive side facing out, tightly wrapped, overlapping enough to ensure it'll stay put.
      The second layer would be applied adhesive side down, overlapping the first layer all the way around about halfway. Again, wrap it very tight to ensure it'll stay, and that no water will get beneath it.
      (Note - I'm not 100% positive this idea will work, but it sounds plausible.)
