  • As we leave Ijsselmeer, the Netherland’s man-made lake, and are navigating the Waddenzee to the Frisian Islands that serve as a barrier to both the Netherlands and Germany, we come across an astounding variety of wonderful boats and ships. Our exposure to ships of all sizes and uses continues throughout this episode as we move from the protection ofTerschelling Island to wide open waters of the North Sea. We next make land-fall at the German island of Borkum and then sail further into the German Bight before navigating the channel down the massive Elbe River. We end the episode enjoying the view of even MORE ships as we relax with a cooling beverage on the veranda of the Cuxhaven Yacht Club.
What is your favorite boat or ship that we included?
    We hope you enjoy!

The setting of Erskine Childers' 1903 book, "Riddle of the Sands", at Memmert, Juist, and Norderney! The book was also made into a 1979 movie starring Michael York, Simon MacCorkindale and Jenny Agutter.

You took the words out of my mouth. A great book, and a worthy movie. Very interesting to see those waters from a modern perspective.
