Kiel Canal - the Doorstep of The Baltic Sea | Ep. 143

We transit Germany’s Kiel Canal and enter the Baltic Sea, a dream of ours that has taken several years to realize given the challenges posed by the pandemic. The Kiel Canal holds a bunch of wonders along its 98 kilometer meandering route and we share these with you. Jump on board and watch numerous and varied ships pass closely by us as we make our way first to Rendsburg and then into the Kiel fjord at the other end.
At this point we have been in northern Germany for just five days and we can see their engineering minds at work in the way they have established a robust wind power industry on the shores of their waterways. Impressive.
In Rendsburg, we also show off another German engineering marvel - the Rendsburg High bridge (Rendsburger Hochbrücke, officially Eisenbahnhochbrücke Rendsburg) that is both a railway viaduct and a suspended car/pedestrian ferry transporter, one of only a few in the world!

Nice video, nice boat and good explanations. I was looking for some information on the Sun Odyssey 440 as I will have my next practical license test on this boat in 3 weeks. Coincidently I crossed the Rendsburg bridge by train just a view hours ago as I am visiting my parents. I think you captured the area quite well. Keep it up…

That building at 3:51 (Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy) seems to be pretty new. The google map satellite imagery shows where construction was just starting.
