When was the first time you got engine oil for your machine?
Duckhams for my 1972 ford Granada
1970 Comma single 30s that they used to use in taxis for my 1962 Triumph 3TA.
I was 15 at the time .
Nah but I did use castrol anti fling chain oil on the drum winding transmission of a new crane I was driving but that was a freebie but don't bother you won't find stuff like that in the shops anymore or they will start selling it in 25cc tubes online no doubt.
Tommorow is My first timedoing it and yes i wil get it right because i just watched this video😌

I used Molyslip oil additive in my 1967 classic Mini ( Molybdenum based) .Sold it in '69 .Bought a Mk 3 Spitfire, did 20,000 miles in 12 months.Used Castrol 20/50 in the Mini. Same in the Spit.

Hello I am from Surabaya (Indonesia) I am always used Castrol Magnatec 10W-40 in My Car since I bought this car, Daihatsu Xenia. When start and Run, the Engine very smooth running. Many people said, like an new Car Engine, even though My Car production since year 2004. Good Job Castrol Magnatec, be innovated in the future 🙏🙏

hi first of all great informative video. 2nd can you suggest oil grade for a 660cc Japanese 2022 model car? at the moment i am using 0w 20 fully synthetic for my car. keeping in mind weather condition is 40 degree Celsius or 104 Fahrenheit.
My car recommends 5W-30 but i live in the tropics and there is NO need for such low W numbers so i run this 10W-40 and it's really good.
My car recommends 5w30 but we are travelling to Spain in the summer towing a caravan so I was thinking of 5w 40 for that journey, changing back to 5w 30 when I return to the UK what do you think ?

@@blackvulcan100it all depends on how many miles your vehicle has gone through. If your vehicle is more than a decade old then i think goingn with 5w40 or 10w40 at that, would be more beneficial
Castrol is short for caster oil which is a throwback to world war 1 aviation when they used to fill the aeroplanes up with it.
10w40 is my favoutite grade of oil
I got a 97 ej255 with 350,000 miles, yeah im in the states haha. Just picked it up thinking about running 10w-40 to keep compression up
We used slick 50 in the 80s and 90s for added protection for engine parts

Shame they discontinued Magnatec in the US !! Only choice we have for Castrol 10W-40 is standard GTX or GTX high mileage blend :(

I have always been told if your main journeys are short door to door it is best to use thin oil, if journeys are long and on faster roads to use a thicker oil
I'm guessing that was probably a very long time ago before multigrades.
These days we get the best of both worlds

Hello, thanks for the informative video. I have a 2008 VW Touareg with a 3.6L Petrol engine. The recommended oil for my car is Castrol 5w40. But currently, I can only find Castrol 10w40(duallock). What is the implication if I use this oil? Temperatures in my country ranges from 25-35 degrees Celsius. We don't have cold temperatures in my region. Thanks.
The oil is fine. The Touareg is the problem. Volkswagens are crap vehicles. And their dealers are daylight robbers. Rather buy a Lexus or Camry, and you've got a proper value for money car, with built in reliability.
No implications. I’m guessing your car needs a3/b4. So any 0 or 5w30 and 0, 5, or 10w40 that’s a3/b4 will be 👌
You are right, castrol oil is the best buy and expensive, so when people buy online your find a suitable oil for your car but your see a few makes as well and the prices, every one I know will buy the cheapest oil , when you buy from a car shop oil your find thay will get you the cheapest first because most customers say is that the cheapest one, look at it this way when you go food shopping you are still looking for the cheapest product. I always used to buy the cheapest spec oil for my van ie 5/30 fully synthetic but i find i was forever having to top it up, but for the last couple of years i now use the expensive stuff, it lasts much long and dosen't burn off as quick as the cheap stuff, over time its more cost effective to spend more money and by a decent quality oil

VW recommends Castrol 5/30 for my Touran, could I change to 10/40 for better lubrication in heavier traffic will no Ill effects?

I switched to Castrol recently. As previously, I was using 10w-40 oil grade, and I had Castrol Magnatec 10w-40 for my car. However, I want to lower the grade in the future as the Car manual recommends 5w-30. If I switch to 5w-30, what can be the results? How will it affect the engine? Please share an honest guide. If I should stick to it, please share the reason.

@@Castrol_UK I just tried it. My FAW V2 isn't in the list. I have my car's manual. I can use 10w-30 and 5w-30. But I have 10w-40 in my car right now. I am using this grade for 3 years now. I just changed my brand to Castrol this month. Now I want to downgrade to 5w-30. It is in the list of my cars manual. I need guidance if i can shift to 5w30 without causing problem for my car's engine. Is it safe?
@@haroonrasheed9203you risk oil leaks because going from thicker to thinner often has this type of problem with joints and every little small ways the oil can leak from. If it's a relatively new car you still have hope to go down but if it's 50k + I think switching is very risky

Same hear oil and filter air filter every 5 months on my E60 2.5i BMW never have any problems with it
Why don't you save yourself a bit of money by just buying oil with a vw spec ? have even found it in home bargains.

Nothing wrong with castrol 10/40 .
Any good quality semi (silkolene , rock oil , motul ) will be fine on bikes if changed frequently.

Wet clutch or dry? Ducati or dry clutch bikes can use car oils, wet clutch can't, your clutch will slip. Delo, Rotella both work in wet clutch bikes. The API sticker can't have Energy Saving, Resource Saving, Energy Conserving or anything along that line for a wet clutched bike.
