    @PhasmatisApparatus The "red lights" are a Vicon motion capture system which uses IR light and cameras. The robot itself is basically blind and told where it is, there independent version is 1/20 the speed of this.

    @TheLemming1337 Před 12 lety

    i think the best way to use this in actual situations, like, going inside a random building, they will need a satelite to first scan the building, and make like a 3D generated "map" of the house, showing its paths and stuff, and then send these fellas to get to a certain point by using that mapping system

    This is really cool but, i wonder what it'd take to do those maneuvers outside where there are no 50 motion tracking cameras strapped to walls. GPS is too sluggish for that kind of precision. I thing some sort of 3D laser range finder technology will be the future.

  • @JosephLisee
    @JosephLisee Před 14 lety

    This is super cool, very amazing control tech. This is not so much a robot demo as it is an awesome **controls** demo. The robot has very little on board computation, and no way to know where it is. Localization is done with the Vicon mocap system (the red "lights" you see in the room), and there is on off board computer which feeds in commands.
    See the linked video in the description for what a fully independent autonomous system can do, its cool but much much slower and less precise.

    @Geobon This is not an independent robot. It uses motion capture tech to find its position and off board computers. His second video description shows a true independent robot and its 1/20 the speed.

    I could see the idea about the controller to recover from extreme initial conditions. In eg. rescue mission and what not you drive along a road and deploy drone by throwing them out of the car window, and they'll revover and start searching. Which means you can deploy drones in a large area in the least amount of time.

    Someday, people will look back on this and marvel at the naivete of it all. Does anybody behind these projects even see the kind of future they are creating, or are they so far up the ivory tower that they can't imagine the dystopia they are preparing?

  • @MaxWyght
    @MaxWyght Před 12 lety

    @josh3545 It probably uses a gyro or three to determine where up and down is, and the rotors just alternate power to stabilize.
    like to bottom pair of rotors(assuming it's in a completely vertical position) would spin faster than the top rotors, so the top would sag, and the bottom will start rising.
    after a certain time, all 4 rotors would equalize to keep the copter level.

  • @Kaanin

  • @Tymopta
    @Tymopta Před 12 lety

    I had an idea about the cameras. If they were mounted on the quads instead of the walls then you might be able fly them anywhere as they would scan the area and comunicate with each other to get around any obstical. Then just a self-generating power supply to keep them in the air indefinatly. Nano nuclear power plant!
