- Planning and control for heterogeneous quadrotor teams in environments with obstacles. Work done by Daniel Mellinger, Alex Kushleyev, and Vijay Kumar at the GRASP Lab at the University of Pennsylvania. Smallest and biggest quads developed by Alex Kushleyev and Max Likhachev.
your work is awesome !
This is the coolest thing I have seen for ages
That's seriously the coolest thing I've seen in a really long time....Extremely impressive...
this is so awsome work
I got chills on the hula-hoop part.
This is AWESOME!
Dude, you totally got the best job in the world.
@TheDmel You guys have the best job on the planet!!!
this is fascinating.
Great job nicely done
these videos are always bad ass.
AMAZING!!!!
OMG - this is just too cool
Most impressive progress! This is relevant to my interest, I'll be holding a keen eye on your development. :)
I love these vids.
Awesome army of drones :-D well done
those are the best Quadrotors on youtube
wow this is insane
...for a 'failed' design of the 1920s by Oehmichen and De Bothezat , the Quadrotor has ressurected as an amazing flying object ..... Kudos to the guys who are making it possible!
This is exciting and scary at the same time.
Oh man... this is bad ass!
killer drones! 👏
Beautiful
the sound of a pissed off bee swarm combined with the way those things move is kinda terrifying
why does this feel like I'm watching one of those videos they'll be showing kids after the apocalypse so they know where it all began ???
And this amazing precision and accuracy is why the machines will beat the shit out of us when they become self aware..
These would be ideal for repair in difficult places to reach, for example in the future we may be able to use these as repair bots for spacecrafts etc
i bet the military would hire y'all in a heartbeat!
I fly a very areobatic quad.... I could not do what they do with computers in this video ... this is extremely impressive.
These will be the blueprint for the SHIELD helicarrier
very cool
what a stability !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Keep it up!
Reminds me of motorcycle display teams but 3D
Wish my Quads could fly like that!!
These are the Skycars of the future. In the not to distant future, we will be flying to work in these things at the press of a button.
It looks insane, scary and cool as fuck at the same time.Im impressed !
Makin war a lil more fun everyday...i love it
Amazing!
Stanislav Lem some 30 years back predicted military to be miniature..
amazing
The number of peaceful applications of this tech...
Incredible and quite frightening (in a 1984 sense) at the same time
Nice control
and so it begins
Cant wait until you finish the T-1000!
Great, something else that in the future we are going to wish we could un-invent
Very good control and stability! Do you have a link to your research, department and publications? Please post if you do so (especially publications). Thanks
God, those things are so cool . . . like gigantic bumblebees!
Imho this kind of research is the feature of robotics. Humans consist of multiple cells which are kind of individual too. This kind of cooperation between semi-individual units is very flexible and adaptable. We can build really smart robots only using this approach. The rest of the robots you see are just awkward animatronic toys.
Yeah...exactly what I was thinking of haha.. Glad to see it wasn't just me :-)
This was uploaded 4 years ago, and I'm STILL impressed by it.
This is scary. Absolutely.
Once these things have guns wars are gonna be insane.
Stunning.
Not an original thought, but: the geek shall inherit the earth :)
@lyleattack there are infrared cameras in the room which can "see" the objects
the path is calculated by a computer which controls the quadrotors
Game over. They WILL become sentient. We're screwed.
THEYRE FLOODING THE SEWERS WITH MANHACKS!
The power of computer programming..
@LemonsArentSour The Terminator was developed at Skynet.
OK OK, you guys will get your military R&D contract
Lord...at least now we know the sound of fear in the future battlefield...
The only way i can think to describe that is "fricken cool"
next video intro: "in this video, we placed an undermounted turret on a quadrotor..."
Pretty much explains half of all the latest UFO sightings. You know they gotta be making big ones.
Didn't think about that, Fair enough.
"Batteries Not Included" extreme form
Its strange to be born in the time to be able to watch the future encroaching.
this reminds me of those little spider guys from minority report
It has begun...
@Hushvick I prefer metric for my engineering work because it's more precise and easier to work with, but when I look at the weather forecast, I prefer the Fahrenheit scale, because I know what 70F feels like without thinking. If it says 21, I'm grabbing a coat instead of a light jacket if anything.
@TheMrBlinx just a guess, but those little things look like they might cost allot of money, the net might be a safety feature to minimize costs :)
@Scarecrow1302 Wars are ALWAYS insane
Has the team ever thought of creating smaller, more disposable versions and selling them to raise extra funds for your projects? I'm sure there would be plenty of buyers :D
Finally they can make a realistic starwars!!
1:13 imagine if they where armed with machine guns, the hoop was a window, and the room was full of hostile personel
Are you guys programming them to see objects and avoid them or just programming the movement and putting objects just oout of there path?
keep up the awesoe work
"They're flooding the area up ahead with Manhacks!"
Просто зашибись! А если не секрет, как квады ориентируются в пространстве? При том так точно?
someone needs to buy a warehouse and build a live ammunition paintball type game against these guys
@LemonsArentSour because if a couple of these had phased plasma rifles in the 40 watt range, the Terminator would be their bitch.
The Terminator robot was intended to be one of the most ominous and unstoppable killers ever portrayed in cinema. If malicious quadrotors were out to destroy humanity they would be significantly more dangerous: the only thing likely to save us would be friendly robots that are successfully staying ahead in the arms race.
Somehow this technology reminds me of the so called "manhacks" of the game "half life²".
They used to be military drones and attack troublemakers. Creepy
this is insane, where can i get one?
the future is here
@TheMasterpiece911 THEY ARE FILLING THE UNDERGROUND WITH MANHACKS!
1) Make 50-100 Quadrotors with cameras mounted on them.
These cameras have face detection technology.
2) Send them to Uganda and find Kony
Pretty cool, but I guess that all the magic is thank to those sensors on the wall... Just fancy puppets if you ask me
@marzipanK My thoughts exactly.
I for one, would like to welcome our new robot overlords.
...I keep thinking, they can't get better, but then they do.
@pyrodude44 Yeah, easily. It might be a little expensive for live-fire training exercises, but with a laser system, it would be pretty great.
As far as equipping it with a conventional gun, I don't know if its light frame would withstand the recoil. Now if you wanna talk about some wacky stuff, like tasers, lasers, poisons etc., then yeah, it could easily work. And when you're talking about attaching weapons to flying robotic miniature assassins, you really can't get too wacky.
@Hushvick agreed!
This is probably one of the coolest things out there. Cheers for the upload.
@Makool thats exactly what i thought
Man you guys are quadrotor NINJAS! I'm always impressed to see the speed an control you get out of these things. I bet its fun to work on this project!
siiiiiiick!
@LemonsArentSour Because youtube isn't a place for people to leisurely hang out and watch funny videos. The top rated comments are usually the funnest. Anyway, weren't you a little bit scared of how this technology is so perfect?
@jenovaprodigal /watch?v=W18Z3UnnS_0 there you go. Theres another video from a different team where the built a massive tower out of foam bricks. The tower had windows and other structures through which the team of 20 or so quadrotors navigated to build the structure without hitting one another or the tower. Though that video would have been closer to what you are requesting I could not locate it again.
@alphagranger No, your comment was actually highly original.
And people thought that the Combine man-hacks from half life were sci-fi.Bitch please!
Fortunately they are able to do this just with Vicon system :)
