I did the section from about Rucky Chucky to Foresthill yesterday. The 10km up to Foresthill is a burnt out wasteland. They've done a fantastic job clearing out the burnt timber, but it's eerie. And I suspect they'll be using rafts for the Rucky Chucky crossing this year. River level is super high, and it's cold from all the snow runoff.
That’s sad about the fires! I’ve been wondering how much snow will be near the starting line in Olympic Valley given the crazy snowfall this year!

Over this terrain , simply finishing under 24 is amazing, the winner? 6.6 mph for 15 hours straight. Including stops, food, rivers, that is fast even for a 26.2 race.

This years WSER was a good one but can’t help notice a lot of familiar faces not there this year? Was it coincidental? You missed witnessing the “Golden Hour”, this year’s was action packed especially the last one who missed the cutoff

Combination of GoPro Hero 10, iPhone 13 Pro and Sony a7IV with a Tamron 28-75mm lens.

A.) it’s REAL hard to get into. There’s a lottery and ticket system that I haven’t focused on.
