I'm as big of an Alex fan as you'll really find but Tom would take him to the cleaners 9/10 times. He's just too big and too well rounded. Alex is colossal for a middleweight, above average for a light heavyweight but he'd be on the smaller end of heavyweight, he has a huge frame but he isn't anywhere near as filled out as Tom.

Am I wrong or did spinal just say he weights 240 a week or so ago? They are the same size. Spinal doesn’t have the advantage everyone thinks he does. I think Alex still has so much room on his frame. He could easily add 10-15 lbs of solid muscle to his frame in a year if he wanted to. If he really wanted he could do the John jones approach and add 30 lbs, 15 muscle and 15 fat. If he did that he would be 260! He could do that in 6months if he committed! Could you imagine Peoria at 260 and how much power he would have if he didn’t have to diet to stay lean. Having a little extra body fat actually makes you a lot stronger. In reality he’ll probably stay lean and fight at heavyweight 10lbs higher than he is now and be about 245 solid. That still a big man. He’s used to cutting a ton of weight and still performs like crazy. Imagine how good he would feel not to cut a single pound.

The thing you don’t understand is that he’s not used to handle 260lbs beasts in the octagon. Thus far he only bullied smaller guys who barely break 200lbs off camp. Hill weighted in at 204.5 ffs. Aspinal is a massive dude with incredible speed and serious knockout power. And he has been fighting other giants for years. You seriously think Pereira’s punches will have the same effect on a legit HW as on a small dude like Strickland? He couldnt even ko a washed up Blachowicz who was outwrestling him easily. Imagine what a prime HW like Aspinal will do to him.

@@whatchusayintv what are you talking about? I’ve been bodybuilding since I was 14 and it’s absolutely possible. Alex,a frame is huge and is capable of holding a lot more size. You’re limited by your genetics as to how much muscle you can hold and Alex is constantly dieting year round to keep his weight low on purpose. If you’re already maxed out and have been lifting for years and trying to grow then you can’t add that much size. NFL athletes regularly add 10-15 lbs of muscle during their first off season which is only a few months. I’ve personally seen many people do it. If you don’t have good genetics and or don’t know what you’re doing then I could understand why you would think that. But when you’ve been purposely holding your body back you can absolutely grow. He weight 235 so he can still make 205. He’s not bulking to 235 he’s holding himself down. He’s already bigger than Glover. Lots of guys that size do good at Heavyweight. Look at stipe he’s only 240, basically the same size as Alex is right now and Alex can add more size easy. The combination of genetics, training and diet he can add 10 lbs of solid muscle no problem. Look at Holloway, he literally just did it and Holloway doesn’t have the same muscle building genetics as Pereira. Holloway was thick as hell and solid from neck to calves.

He faces a similar problem to Izzy when he moved up to fight Jan, where even if he has vastly improved his takedown defense (a skill which Izzy is better at than Pereira) Aspinall can still lay and pray because of the size advantage. Now obviously Pereira has an off button that Izzy does not. But Aspinall is a better grappler than Jan. He should fight Ankalaev and then he has cleared the top of the division. Then he can get a heavyweight fight against someone like Gane, Pavlovich, or Volkov, and if he wins go for the title.
