I just discovred your channel and I love your vlogs, among others. I watch several each day. I'm sorry for my english, my mother tongue is french. Besides, your videos help me to improve my english. Thank you ! ☺️
I love your channel, been watching for awhile (sometimes commented with one of my other channels). Along with creating amazing content and going into such great detail talking about books, you're one of the most beautiful women on CZcams. I also really love your accent. And I really really love your hairstyle, I like that you've kept it that way over the past few years.
What a great haul! Most of these are waiting for me on my TBR. Small Fry is a beautiful memoir. I do hope you like it. Very interested in Normal People as its getting so many praises! Thanks for bringing my attention to The Reading Cure. Sounds fascinating. Enjoy your new books :)
Great to see you, Helene! I hope you're having a wonderful 2019. I haven't read any of that group of books but I do have a copy of "Rules of Civility" and look forward to reading it. I enjoy those New York-high society settings. It's still just January: there a lot of great 2019 reading ahead!
So many good books! So glad you enjoyed Becoming. I mean, I can't see how anyone can't love her memoir! I'm sure you'll love Normal People too. I bought Pachinko ages ago too and keep meaning to get to it. Maybe we should buddy read it? :)
I enjoyed Pachinko very much, especially the first half. More characters and their story lines were added later and it was harder to get invested with them. That said, I was addicted from start to finish and when it was over I wished there was more.
Hi Helene, I'd like to suggest a video subject, ut it's completely up to you. Topic: Social Media (Ytube, FBook, Instagram, WhatsUp, SnapChat, Twitter, etc.). Which are your favs, what do you like/dislike about each platform, how often you use each, how you interact with your viewers/readers, etc. through them, etc. You have 17k subscribers, so I think it'd be neat for us to know what each means to you. Thanks for considering it, and if you choose not to do this topic, we understand.
I still have a digital review copy of Pachinko on my Kindle from its publication date. Shame on me and it will be great to hear your thoughts. I have a bit of a mental block to reading long books on a Kindle. I get a lot of satisfaction from holding a heavy book and feeling the altered weight distribution as you read. I’m looking forward to hearing your views on everything here though. Happy reading!
So weird. The copy of The Great Gatsby I read had the same cover as Rules of Civility. Is there any relation of these books or is it just a coincidence?
Annika There is no relation. Many publishers will use the same source for cover art on a book if the source is in public domain and thus easily (and cheaply) attainable.
I DNF’d 9 Perfect Stranger. The author seems hit & miss; some I’ve loved, others not so much (I pushed to finished them but they never got any better). Eager to hear your decision, or review if you finish it. Read Rules of Civility; great writing & “just ok” plot. Others are on my TBR.
I liked your instagram account, it is very comfy and cuddling to my eyes and fancies about books that I may have stored in such a mind of mine. I am looking forward to watch more of your videos and to discover within my core the habit to read more. Do you have any video that you present yourself? Where you are from? Because your accent is very beautiful, is somewhat british and german, though I am not so sure for the german part, but the british influences that you express through your pharesologies are showing, really beautiful if I may say.
Could listen to your accent all day! Great reviews, keep up the great work.

Pachinko is on my list for March. Small Fry might be interesting.
Tana French has talent with character development, for sure. One of my favorite.
A Ladder in the Sky was one of my favourite books of last year.

Pachinko was great! If you like family sagas this one is up there among the best!

I placed reserves for three books at my library by the time I finished watching this video 😣😜😄😂

Are you taking part in the Booktube prize run Robert at Barter Hoards? A Ladder to the Sky is one of 48 books on the longlist.
You should try A History of Loneliness by John Boyne. It’s incredible and so poignant.
