I love Niles in this series. Especially when he tells Maxwell if you wait to long good things slip through your fingers. He really is all of us.
And Maxwell is always too stupid to get the hint.
As opposed to Niles in what other series?
Until I read Daniel Davis's biography, I thought he was British. This showed how good he was as an actor.

Yes, but being intimate/in romantic relationship with two brothers would be too intriguing. Fran was pictured as a flirty, bubbly but good girl. Doing sth like that would have ruined that image. Producers didn't want to go into that direction :) It would have been a good script for Two and a Half Men:)

Right? Maxwell deserved a good scare
Maxwell was lucky Fran loved him but this episode showed even if you loved a person very much, everyone has a limit of patience. Nigel was impulse, even Fran could see it. But she indulged herself in a small fantasy that it was Maxwell doing it for her. In the end, her love for her second family was stronger than getting married. But Maxwell finally realised that he had to step up his game. Or else he'd lose Fran forever.
If Niles hadn't read him the riot act in that one episode he might have still dragged it out.
I really love her green and black dress and that hair band really suits her
She tried to go with Nigel, but missed the boat. Max getting her was pure luck
Why should Maxell care of losing her, if Fran loved hin, i mean really loved hin, she would never do any of this, and i mean really ANY of this, never stuck in there for so much time, "waiting" while any other person on the planet could see the guy was just trying to live he's life and would just move on without letting the sittuation get to this point, she never loved hin really, if you love someone you don't try to get married with that persons BROTHER that much everybody knows really well.
The show was amazing but the writing certainly was never that high quality, or made much sence, outside the comedy factor.
the only reason she's still with them is because old ladies kept hogging the taxis

I think she should’ve married him. A man that truly wants you, will let that be known. Maxwell dragged her along for too long.
To be fair, Maxwell had fairly recently lost his wife. He had a whole period of grief to work through, and he needed to reconcile the fact he wanted to move on and find love again with the fact he had gone through this period of mourning
@@pandakatiefominz True but he played with her emotions too much. He knew how desperate she was to find love. She wasn’t subtle about it. Realistically she wouldn’t have married him.

I cried so hard when I first saw this episode; it looked like Fran was actually going to leave Max & the children.

If Nigel really loved Fran, he would have told everyone, including his brother. I think he was just being impulsive, as Maxwell accuses him of...
In addition, if Nigel really loved her, it wouldn't have been a now or nothing deal. He could have delayed his trip, or kept in touch and came back soon to be with her.
Not like truly loved him either, she was just a gold digger.

I'd marry Nigel in a second, even though his immature and Irresponsible, he loves to live life to the fullest and has a sense of humour and knows how to have fun.
Yeah fun is good for the first couple of years and then you’re left with the immature and irresponsible. Doesn’t sound like a long lasting marriage but that’s just my opinion. Balance is the key

This was actually a sad episode towards the end. But it showed the desperation of Fran to be married. She’d been so close and it kept slipping away.

It's kinda sad when you remember most of those proposals weren't sincere... French dude was after a green card, the thief money, Danny wanted her to work in his shop, and even the first time Maxwell proposes, it's to spite his mom. :( Wasn't there some old guy who proposed too?
This episode is Very touching. I've seen it in times of depression and cry every time.

Thinking back, I'm kind of shocked that Niles didn't interfere. He seemed to always want Fran and Maxwell together.

If you watch the whole episode, the way the audience reacts is very telling. When Fran kisses Nigel, they're not supportive or cheering it on. Nor were they happy that Fran was she was even considering marrying someone else besides Mr. Sheffield.
One of the best shows and it’s still funny after all these years.

And no, it usually DOES NOT happen (so ladies stop hoping that you can fix him). But it's not never happened before. And in a purely FICTIONAL setting, it could've been nice to see that Fran was the one that tamed Nigel.
