@@kaku4702 you can get the original version which contains the original message that Musashi wrote. It is very short and each teaching is extremely brief… Which results in it taking on a different meaning every time you read it. I personally would recommend the “Definitive Interpretation” by Stephen Kaufman. The definitive interpretation provides a lot more detail on what each of the messages mean.

I'm blown away by this video. What a surprise! In 2016, I was in Japan for three months, as I did Kyokushin Karate for 20 years. I decided to hitchhike to Reigando Cave. Finding it was a bit hard, but I succeeded. I kept repeating the words Reigando and Miyamoto Musashi to Japanese people, so they would understand where I wanted to go. The place was exactly like Tu Lam said, with the artifacts, the Shinto shrine, the statues... When I entered the cave, I stayed there for a while and I realised there were no tourists at all, so I decided to sit down and meditate for 15 minutes, until a man came in to have a look. That place was so quiet and in a remote area, away from tourist attractions.

What saddens me is that "Modern Japan" has lost its moorings. I think of a good percentage of boys today who have coped out of participating in any type of Martial Art let alone Mastering it. One would think that challenging oneself, pushing oneself, building oneself would be the desire of most boys no matter what ethnic group. Surely Musashi should be the role model for anyone seeking self mastery!

I used two of Miyamoto Musashi's books (The book of five rings and Dokkodo) as sources on my informative speech in my lecture Business and Professional Communication. The title of my topic was "Miyamoto Musashi: The Three Principles of Life". However, when I was practising for my speech I felt depressed and didn't have the motivation to continue practising for my speech due to failing two Mid-term exams. I was suffering from failure, I felt that I couldn't trust myself any longer and had bad time management with my study schedule for a week. But I decided to read Musashi's book Dokkodo, I read his quotes "Accept everything just the way it is." and "Do not regret what you have done." which this words took a significant impact in my life and made me realise that we should accept our failiures of our past mistakes and we shouldn't shame ourselves about it but to keep moving forward in our lives for a better tomorrow. When the day came to talk about my speech I didn't expect to talk like a professional public speaker I was surprised for my own speech because it felt like I was expressing my feelings by analysing Miyamoto Musashi's quotes "Accept everything just the way it is.", "Do not regret what you have done." and "Never be jealous". Overall, all I want to say is to read his books because you don't know how much it can change your life.

I am the proud owner of a Miyamoto Mushasi tattoo. I read the book of five rings a few years back and it let me know, not only that I was on the right path. But, that I had been on the right path the whole time and that being a lone warrior is currently the life I crave. I'd urge everyone to read the book multiple times. It's very dense and has many pearls of wisdom within it.

“As a man was passing the elephants, he suddenly stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the elephants could, at anytime, break away from their bonds but for some reason, they did not.
He saw a trainer nearby and asked why these animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away. ‘Well,’ trainer said, ‘when they are very young and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, it’s enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free.’
The man was amazed. These animals could at any time break free from their bonds but because they believed they couldn’t, they were stuck right where they were.”

The way I read about it was... Throughout Musashi's life he fought for peace. He fought and killed the best of the best in every martial art. By defeating all of them he unified Japan. musashi repeated that the way was found in doing, not merely reading or studying...
and he repeated that no amount of pages could contain the words to explain everything...
one must put in the work of the way, and while you are doing it, be all in, there in the moment, and you will either get it, or you will not.

I don't believe in the supernatural BS with camera, though. The mind finds meaning in anything, but it was a perfect opportunity to apply/exercise a lesson.

Dokkodo. The base philosophy on which my own spirit is bound. I am a follower also, I consider the five rings to be more essential than the hagakure or new testament.

Bu or 武 translates to martial or military. shi (士)can be translated to scholar or warrior. Broadly it means someone who is a practitioner. Do (道)means the way. The path. Or more profoundly, it represents personal philosophy. Together, Bushi (武士) means Warrior. A 'practitioner' of war, one who is a martial artist (in most cases), one who fights, and does so with conviction. Bushido (武士道) thus means, the way of the warrior. The path of the warrior. It is a philosophy adopted by samurai and many other modern warriors and great human beings, all fighting their own battles, all committed to their causes. I found Tu Lam's explanation of the 3 words quite misleading and quite departed from their actual essence, so I put this together to the best of my understanding. He most likely absorbed the essence of the teachings relating to bushido, but tried to relate them to the kanji or 汉字 in his own unique way, but I found his explanation and expansion quite off-tangent. I hope this helps

Tu, I tell a story now about the stone statues. There are 58 verse in Cristian bible says God is a ROCK/STONE.
In our meditations we relate the stone as a physical object that embraces time, and space. Example: Along the path of urgency are those waist deep in destiny. Beyond the muck and mire, where men burn their desires a patient stone resides.
There is a stone on top of the mountain that shapes the horizon, where the feathered eagle struggles to fly, this stone simply lies consistent in the heights."-DW
But Samurai/Ronin I see the remnants of a battlefield, I read the sign...now open your eyes, look a thousand years, not a thousand miles. See that sphinx, all these statues...look the noses, and ears will be the trophies, a native warrior God traveling space and time desicrating his enemy. There shall be no graven image before me.

Hagakure Ha-Ga-Ku-Re, pronounced Hah-Gah-Ku-Rei (with somewhat of a tapped r) not hakakiura. Search Hagakure to find the book.
