The Complete Musashi is my favourite translation and contains a lot of extra background detail.
This is my original recording reuploaded. The Book of Five Rings (五輪書, Go Rin no Sho) is a text on kenjutsu and the martial arts in general, written by the Japanese swordsman Miyamoto Musashi around 1645.
One may question the relevance of a book about swordsmanship in modern life, but at its core this book is about mastery, its principles are timeless. Many parts are echoed in other non-combat focussed works from around the world, and as we’ll many see were far ahead of their time.
I have made an in depth summary of the book here: • The 24 Principles ⛩ Bo...
That said, Musashi himself mentions his words are only principles, and only through training will you come to understand them. In listening I suggest placing your focus on its core messages of mastery over yourself, directness of intention and of seizing the initiative and not being passive.

Thank you for bringing this back.
Excellent audiobook, the reader has superb ability in conveying the lessons of this book with a professionally neutral and reasonably paced pattern of speech, considering that each lesson is worth pondering upon for a while

Mr. Homer, I loved listening to your readings on Vox Stoica and am so glad that I found your other channel and that you are still uploading. You have no idea how much listening to your videos means to me. Thank you.
Gratitude is the father of all virtues: wisdom, courage, justice and compassion ❤

I like that you have a snake because Asp is another name for the Egyptian cobra.
Loved your vid, thanks for it & omg lol the x5000 timing portion around 24:52 felt like a badly written rick and morty episode, made me laugh
You must study this well.
Research this well
By researching well, you will find the subject is deeper than expected.
@@dunsinane88and how does it look like?
It looks like a deeply dug hole in the ground with some gathering liquid at the bottom.

(I don't speak Japanese, can you tell???)
oh wow are you the one reading?
Yea my narration. Recorded it back in 2019 and just working on a detailed summary of it now so thought I'd reupload the original
Pleasant speech is the highest blessing 🎉
Please never take it down again. It is a nightly listen for me. Only one that doesn't butcher the Japanese.
This is amazing
Hey Robin, this narration is fantastic and helps my relax and fall asleep for my shift work, is there some where the file can be found for download/purchase off of CZcams?
