I love the process of just creating a server. Ive been for about 3 months obviously no players but just having fun doing things and learning things from you. I had you on discord asked you a couple of questions, my discord got hacked and then you unadded me sadly. You gave me some good advice and when I went back I couldnât msg you lol sadly. Thanks for this info, My server just stoped showing up and i thought i just needed to update the server files and Umod but nope still not showing so i will try this and hopefully the server will be back
Took a bit of messing but it's back so thank you again.
As a heads up - if you're self-hosting a local Rust server, you'll probably need to update your NAT rules so that you're forwarding to the correct port.

Are you talking about port forwarding? Because this video mainly focuses on defining the query port in your batch file.

Server appears in the server list but the description won't appear at all and there is not a server.cfg generating where it should but just a serverauto.cfg... i tried auto creating one but it won't load it. any ideas? I've tried checking the startup arguments, but they are correct

A host shouldâve already done this for you bud they havenât, you should be able to contact their support and have it taken care of

Tried it, does not work. It is a hosted virtual server, tried queryport 28014 as well as 28015. However, server does not appear on the server modded list.

How do you determine what server query port to use.
If youâre hosting locally, you define it. It can be whatever you want but I suggest in the 28000-28999 zone.
Tell me how to get my server to show up in the modded list without having to click on monthly and roleplay, and you will be my hero. It is listed, but, it doesn't show up unless I have clicked on monthly and roleplay, I have scrolled through all the thousands of servers, it just is not there, but if I select those options, then it comes up.
This would of been gold content to release on Feb 2nd.

I was wondering if you could make a video on using the "TruePVE" mod please.
I am unable to find usage videos on youtube and most videos on YT are people playing pve and not mod usage or so my multiple searches showed.
i have a rented server but it is not showing up in the directory is there something i can change i'm not sure what file to look for at this point ive opened 50 percent of them and dont see any file thats a .bat
Some hosts can take a while to show up, when starting a new server. If it doesnât show, there are a few things to consider, distance between your client and the actual server location plays a huge role here.

Can't get this to work. I've forwarded three ports and have set each one of them (server/rcon/query) set correctly in my batch file, yet it's still not showing up in the in-game server list. It's modded and it's not showing up there.
Is this a locally hosted server?
@@srtbull Correction. I got it to work; just had to wait a while for it to show up in the list for some reason, even though the ping is 3. As to your question; yes, itâs hosted locally.

When you run the server update, itâll always use the latest available files from Steam
ive done everything and my friends still cant see the server, what could i do?
Is this a locally hosted server? Is your port forwarding completed? Are you able to connect? Can people outside your network connect using the direct ip address?

thanks, iv had the same issue. do you also happen to know what is causing server freezes? i mean the situation where one core is locked at 100% and all the other cores are 0% and already connected players get no server-response as well as rcon not reacting to inputs anymore, even dou it says im still connected? its a permanent situation until i kill the server-process and restart. at restart and while running there are no errors, rcon just stops to report at some point and then its all frozen. happened to me 3 times the last days, but not before that.
It shows up now but it isnt joinable. Just says "connection attempt failed".
You'll need to pass both ports in forwarding.

What port are your query port and your game port?

Every port you define has to be different. Query 28015. Server 28016. Rcon 28017. App 28018. Just as an example

No. Like I said in the video IcedHost had this all changed heading into the update. They were on top of it
I've recently started a rust dedicated server and even after adding the query port to my bat file and my server cfg file, I still cannot get my server to show up in the server list at all. My friends can all connect to my server via ip address, but I really want it to show in the servers list. Not sure what else to try?
Youâre not the only one. As far as I know, this is already reported to the dev team.

Has anyone been able to get Steam to query their server on a port OTHER THAN 28015?
My live servers donât use 28015 and work fine.
@@srtbull Thanks for responding. Are you on RakNET or SteamWorks? Just asking because I switched to SteamWorks, and I can't get a query from Steam on anything but port 28015 (yes I've allowed traffic on the firewall). I'm not sure if that's intentional or an incomplete implementation on FP/Steams part. To be clear, server.queryport is the port that Steam queries on, server.port is the port clients connect to... server.port can be whatever, but in my experience here, queryport has to be 28015
