💬I made a post on my community tab about this but I lost my dad on 27 March ( czcams.com/channels/QlRvgisyDW43T7K9Txi9Lw.htmlcommunity?lb=UgkxVDbEELpe5VtVLgc4YizkeDinQaLHYjCs ). He wouldn’t have liked this song… he liked 50’s rock, old school country and western, Eagles, CCR, and some 60’s stuff… but I want to dedicate the work I did on this one to him. He was around for the first half of the process and two days before he died we were listening to some of his most favorite songs together. He was set in his ways when it came to music but I didn’t mind. I love all the music he loved to listen to.
He used to sing Elvira by the Oakridge Boys to me, as well as many Elvis songs. And Tiny Bubbles by Don Ho. 😅 I used to change the chorus to “Tiny boobies” and he would get a kick out of that.
Dad, I love and miss you so much. 💜😞

I feel bad for my Dad. He was (and still is) a huge Yes fan, but during the one opportunity he had to see them, back in the 70’s (at a show at a racetrack with a very diverse lineup of other bands, which included Gary Wright, REO Speedwagon, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Peter Frampton at the height of his “Comes Alive” fame) he got a spontaneous, bad case of diarrhea and wound up having to go home before Yes played.

He’s not the most talented bassist. I know bassists that don’t like him because he used a pick, or rather a coin. But he is my favorite bassist. His sound, composition, and presence in the song is what makes him so remarkable. I always think that he complements Jon’s vocals brilliantly. He was the first bassist that was an integral part of the sound of a band and wasn’t just part of the rhythm section

This is the song that turned me on to Rock and Roll. I think I was in 6th grade this year and we moved into a new neighborhood, and one day during the summer this boy, white boy who was my friend invited me to his home. He or his older siblings had this kind of like garage or addition to the house, and it was decked out with black light posters, and strobe lights, and an amazing stereo system, and incense "remember this was the early 70's" and he asked if I wanted to listen to Yes. Up to that point I mainly listened to Motown and the Jackson 5 were my fav group. He played this song Roundabout and OMG I had never heard anything like this and it opened my eyes and my soul to a new type of music, It literally mesmerized me. I continued of course to love Motown and J-5, but suddenly a large piece of me wanted more of this music and the door that opened let other bands rush through like Chicago, Black Sabbath, Elton John, Bowie, The Eagles, Pink Floyd, Queen, and so much more. Even today in my 60's I listen to classic rock probably as mush as or more than any other music, and it's all because a little boy introduced me to a whole new world when I was 12 or 13

I remember the 1st time hearing this song, I was working graveyard at the railroad and the radio was stuck on the classic rock station. This song came on and I was like WOW!! This was back in 1998 and I had the same reaction as these reactors. Excellent job....

It's so cool to see young people listening to classic rock and loving it. This music was the greatest of all time. In my opinion, you just listened to the best rock song ever it's definitely in the top 10. Keep and open mind and continue your rock and roll journey. There are so many fantastic groups and songs from the 60's and70's to choose from. Rock on with your bad self's. 😂

By the way, the weird noise at the start is achieved by hitting a chord on a piano, letting it die away and then running the tape backwards, so it goes from quiet to loud.

It's funny, I've been a Yes fan since I first heard them in 1970, but I wasn't old enough to go to their concerts (I was 8 at the time.) My first Yes concert was their Tormato tour when I was 16. Over the years, I missed them as much as I saw them: I had concert tickets when Yes concerts were cancelled due to the Kansas City Kemper Arena roof caving in a few days before the concert, another time when bassist Chris Squire was sick, and again when singer Jon Anderson fell ill. But I did get to see them a few times, including the tour when the band members was that of your photo at 13:57 (almost)! I figured that I'd probably never get to see them again, so I bought the VIP "meet & greet," where I got to meet and talk to Chris Squire, Steve Howe, Alan White, Oliver Wakeman and Benoit David. It was the most expensive concert ticket, but I was front row center, at only $400! Amazing concert! Though it turns out I did get to see them play two more times, in their alternate lineup for their 50 anniversary tour, and as "Yes featuring ARW" the following year. "Roundabout was a game changer for me when I first heard it, I still remember where I was, who I was with, and what I was doing that day in 1971!

If you like long hours of work (lol), check out reactions to their magnum opus, “Awaken.” Jon Anderson counts it as his favorite. It’s only 15+ minutes, piece of cake! The icing is the organ, which was played by Wakeman in a church in Switzerland, piped to the recording studio several miles away over the PHONE. In 1977.

I would not call it a concert but an "experience " This song is one of most amazing songs ever...its over 8 minutes long on the album...imagine it live!!! Jon and Steve wrote this while traveling through Scotland...deceptive cadence!!! Just when you think it is going to go one way it flips you! Rick Wakeman on the keyboard and Steve Howe's phenomenal guitar work are the highlights! Wondermomma with all my heart ❤️ thank you for putting this together ... knowing what you are going through with the loss of your dad... you still were able to hit my musical life journey and take me back to the night of my experience with Yes! Spec-tac-ular work there, WondermommaOG, as usual. Thanks so much. I've seen many of these, but this is like a new experience of the reactions, along w/ a few new ones. It's like sharing s/thing you've long enjoyed/loved w/ ppl who have no idea about it, but are open to the experience, and find s/thing very alien to them.
