“TIME” SONG FACTS (source: wikipedia)
-Lyrics written by Roger Waters.
-The lyrics deal with the passage of time. Waters got the idea when he realised he was no longer preparing for anything in life, but was right in the middle of it. He has described this realisation taking place at ages 28 and 29 in various interviews.
-It is noted for its long introductory passage of clocks chiming and alarms ringing. The sounds were recorded in an antique store made as a quadrophonic test by engineer Alan Parsons, not specifically for the album.
-The album track also includes a reprise of the song "Breathe". It is the only song on the album to credit all four principal members for songwriting, and last to do so in the band's discography.

This album becomes more relevant and emotional as you get older. In your teens, it just sounds cool. In your 20s and 30s, you start to understand it more deeply. After that, it becomes a true story about everyone.

When I turned 23 I heard the entire Dark side of the moon Album for the first time and I listened to the entire album at least once a day for like two weeks. Time gives me anxiety so I have to listen to that song sparingly lol.

Was introduced to Floyd as a really young kid by my uncle. Few years ago i finally got to see Roger Waters live playing the whole Wall album after listening to their music for 30 odd years. Was in tears a few times during the show. Was like a religious experience. Shook me deeply man haha

Its good to see young people getting to know good music. Us 50-60-70 year olds have known this all our lives.
As The Floyd says in their song "Free Four" (from the album "Obscured by Clouds"): "The memories of a man in his old age are the deeds of a man in his prime." TIME and AGING and LIFE/DEATH are three main topics throughout their musical output.
I was a teacher, employed to supervise a high school disciplinary program. I posted the lyrics to "TIME." PERMENTLY on a blackboard of its own.
When I left 2 years later, it was still there.

20 years listening to this song .. and it just hit me that it’s child -> mid life -> elderly.
I only ever cared about the “10 years” part. Now it means more.
Pink Floyd takes you on a journey. No other band sounds like them. Genius.
Remember -- this was written by 20-somethings.
It sounds like it was written by someone who had a lifetime of experience already behind them. So wise.
When you hear it in your 20s, it shakes you by the shoulders, screaming, "Wake up before it's too late!"

reminds me of "landslide" by fleetwoof mac - stevie nicks wrote it when she was 27, & these days it makes me more teary eyed than when I was younger
The "softly spoken magic spell" is a reference to a prayer. The singer's sober observation takes an almost somber dig - tempered with poignant understanding and compassion - at people desperate not to see the inevitability of things coming to an end and pain and loss in this life, and saying the "magic spell" to keep them from suffering.

By the time "The Wall" came out I was in my 3rd year of College. It was on constantly over the summer.... Blaring out of dorm room windows all over the campus. I got so burnt out on it.
I'm in my 60's and still listen to Meddle, Dark Side and WYWH. Rarely if ever do I listen to the Wall. To me it was album that destroyed Pink Floyd as we had known them. Too much ugliness and not enough beauty (Comfortably Numb being the one exception).

This album is their magnus opus and is considered as the best music album in the history of modern music.

I had nervous breakdown on my 35th birthday, because I literally lost 10 years to being a drunk. I barely remember anything from 25-35 & it scared me to the point of a complete meltdown.

Know that as hard as the experience was... it will be one of your best teachers and build you into a better version of yourself. All hardship and trauma does that. You have plenty of time to keep evolving as the years ebb and flow. It will fly by, so let go of that which you cannot control directly, or it will control you. So much soul it makes my heart soar to see there is still hope. My dad is almost 70 and this song takes me back when he was your alls age and I was much much younger. We would just sit and listen together. It resonates now that I’m almost 50.

I am 73 ! Lol ! I bought the original album 3 times ! (vinyl). I threw parties, no biggie ! But they all mysteriously disappeared. No other albums were ever "borrowed".

Damn. Pink Floyd don't hold back any punches. But it's stuff that's real. Stuff you need to know and be mindful of.
Like many of their songs, this is a pretty brutal take on how life is. Embrace it. And marvel that they have put it to such iconic, astonishing music.
Time, It's hard to believe its been 50 years I have been listening to this song. I'm turning 62 in a week and this music is what we listen to in the 70's and all the other great bands from that era. But it's great to see young people discovering this music again. Keep listening and open up your minds as I do with the new music today.

I find this montage of Floyd quite revealing to see such an emotional release to the many listeners on the video. Some to actual tears and others you can see on their faces the inner contemplation of the reality of life and how quickly it has passed them by to this point in their lives. I'm 67 years old now. The sun has raced up behind me many times now and I am certainly so much closer to death these days. This and many others was the music of my generation and to see how you youngsters are so very moved by music like this and jamming on in the background giving it such high praise makes me laugh almost ironically because when my generation listens to your music we can't wait to turn it off in disgust for the most part because we have actually been exposed to real musical talent over fifty years ago and watching your enlightened awareness and enjoyment is of no surprise to us. Enjoy away and be transformed. On the brighter side music arrangement and composition is infinite from 8 simple notes there's still much music to come and I believe that the greatest music ever written hasn't even been composed yet. I will probably be long gone by then, dead and buried, but I already envy the living inhabitants of that time for what is yet to come for them to enjoy, experience and savor. Post add on comment: You kids have one very major advantage. This all was done in the past and it's been recorded for all time. You can listen to it any time you like. Sadly that future music is off limits to me and all us other old farts.

I used to listen to this brilliant album as a teenager and now at 61 it means even more. Floyd are in a league of their own, and take you places in your mind like a mystical journey. I will love them until I die and my son knows that Comfortably Numb is to be played at my funeral. I am just so thankful that I was born when I was, to have this music in my life from a young age, and still have it today. It is Timeless!

@@contucker9413 I am Australian and was also able to see the start of AC/DC with Bon Scott at least 5 times as a teenager. The music that we grew up,with was to me the best time. Melbourne had a brilliant live music scene so we saw great Aussie bands every weekend along with Queen and Simple Minds to name a few. Never got to see Floyd which is a huge regret. No auto tuned crap, all excellent musicians, we were so spoiled. Wish I could go back and do it again, but don’t we all. Best wishes. X

My dad was a Pink Floyd fan, and so am I. I still have the vinyl album. Dark Side of the Moon is the best album ever made. This is my favorite song on this album. When you're young, you don't think about time. You have all the time in the world. I'm 56 now. Where did my youth go? All the things I wanted to do but never had time for? It's so sad. This song is so beautiful and so deep.
My grandfather is the one who started the love of Pink Floyd, passed it down to my children. So 4 generations and growing. 😁

I have been listening to this masterpiece for 50 years…trust me on this when I say that the feelings and emotions y’all just felt NEVER go away …. it’s simply the greatest album by the greatest band in the history of the world. ❤️
As a 57 year old, my recollection of this song is when my older brother got the original LP pressing with all the artwork inside, and we played it for days. A few lucky people purchased the quadrophonic mix (engineered by Allan Parsons) and owned a rare quadrophonic pioneer system to experience dark side of the moon in all it's original perfection.
Every young person should just read the lyrics. They'll change your life. If you start to tear-up, you get it.
I truly believe that this is the greatest song of all time, and based on the fact that I'm still 16, and everyone in the comments is saying it only gets better as you age, I don't think my opinion will ever change. ❤️🔥

I've been trying to figure out what makes so many people get so emotional and cry to Pink Floyd's music. Is it the subject matter? Is it the melodies and beautiful backing vocals? Is it David's singing voice and otherworldly guitar? Is it that it's just so damn good? ..... YES!!! Just yes.
And then someday there’s the moment when you realize the song is about your own life.

The older I get the harder this damn song hits, but you can't help but marvel at how good it is. Gilmour is a god on guitar, and Water's lyrics slay me.
I discovered this album when I was 7 years old. I knew back then it was something special. I'm 57 now and I still learn something new every time I listen to this musical masterpiece.

I graduated high school in 1995 and went to college,University of Arizona. Every other dorm room was bumping Pink Floyd,Led Zeppelin,The Doors,Steve Miller(which was one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to and I’ve been to a lot of shows) When I was living in LA in the late 90’s there was a very popular band that rarely toured and one night we were at the Troubadour on Santa Monica which holds about 300 people MAX and the announcer came on a said “We have a very special group of guys coming to the stage next so please give it up for RADIOHEAD. The place lost their fuckingminds. Radiohead didn’t tour and if they did it was not in the US. . I guess the 60’s/70’s music had a resurgence when I was in college. I still listen to Floyd even though I have heard every song a million times. My girlfriend at the time knew how much I loved Floyd and for my birthday she bought me the box set with every album they had released. I’m not the biggest fan of Umagumma but every other album is amazing. If you like this song listen to Pink Floyd Animals. Listen to the whole album,it’s only about 6-8 songs but it’s one of my favorite albums of all time. The Wall,Dark Side,Animals,Wish you were here are some of the best albums ever made

My first ex-wife was a bit younger than me, and I introduced her to Pink Floyd. The first time she heard Time she freaked a little bit because she had a "thing" about loud bells. In the end she fell in love with Pink Floyd. PINK FLOYD FOREVER.
-"Time", the song, when absorbed into the psyche creates a type of 'spiritual' awakening in the fullest sense, but if only listened to casually it still provides a 'spiritual' experience to a lesser degree. Going on 50 years old now, generations not yet born when this was newly released, are finding it difficult to express in words the emotional tug of this master work, substituting language with only their tears.
I have already commented on this video, but upon a second watch/listen, the superb nature of this collage deserves much praise. This is the greatest Reaction Videos Channel video ever produced.
The combination of the song and it's lyrics, the trance-like expressions of the various reactors, and the comments of the same meld together to create a very engrossing experience.

14 years on the Billboard charts and the record hasn't come close to being broken! Pink Floyd is timeless! Their music is enjoyed by multiple generations continuing to this day! They are some of the most gifted musicians/artists that every lived! Thank you for taking the time to make this video, it was AWESOME!

I've listened to Pink Floyd my whole life, this was my Neena's favorite song and to listen to it now is very cathartic, still gives me the chills and goosebumps

To hear the softly spoken magic spells".... I think the "the softly spoken magic spells" is referring to the priests sermon at your funeral. It follows the chronological order of events in the song.
This isn't from Time, it's a refrain from the previous song and. of course. it refers to religion.
@@swinetrek Whilst musically it is a reprise of "Breathe"...it is in fact a part of the song "Time". Trust me , I've been a Floyd fan for decades and listened to that song 100's of times.

I have seen majority of these reactors in this montage. Most of them already reacted to other Pink Floyd's songs. I have been a fan of Pink Floyd since early 70's. The album, Dark Side of the Moon, in which this song is on this album. Next year, this song and album will be celebrating its 50 Anniversary. When it was released in 1973, this album broke some records. From 1973 to 1988 or over 700 weeks, DSOTM stayed on Billboard Charts. Guinness Book of World Records gave this distinction. I just check online; this album is still on certain charts from other countries.
It is definitely one of a kind. One you can never tire of. I've heard it many times, but as you can imagine, making these videos requires me to breakdown each song in every detail. I'm noticing little things that I've never heard before and that, in and of itself, makes doing these videos very worthwhile. Dad asked this to be played at his funeral - it was heavy, as Dad was a heavy dude . He shared this music with me as a kid and I am eternally grateful . Brought tears to my eyes seeing folks being emotionally effected by this .
Getting old has its disadvantages but seeing this song performed by Pink Floyd on two occasions and by Roger Waters four times makes me feel very fortunate for the time I spent with Pink Floyd and Waters.

The song Time is an example of that perfect song that melds musicianship, skill, emotions and perfect iambic pentameter poetic style and the theme of life passing you by in a flash into one masterpiece for all time. I remember having these same reactions when I first heard this song...... and that sublime lead guitar of David Gilmour.

There’s so much emotion for me when I listen to Pink Floyd. I was raised on the 70’s since my birth early 80’s. I literally find myself balling going down the highway because of so many memories just flood my mind. Division bell album is my absolute favorite Album, but every album is absolutely amazing.
The most important song of all time. You listening to song and than when it's over you just sit there and your brain is start working. Who am I , what am I doing. Have I spend my life already. I got high AF and sat in the dark with all the windows open when it was really windy one night in 86 and listened to the entire album. It was a mind altering experience.
