I need to pin a comment as I keep getting told how cheap a cross pein hammer is. It seems when I explain I couldn't get one where I live and I needed one straight away, somehow that's not understood! I understand this isn't a high quality hammer and I'm not comparing it to one but it'll get me by for a while!
Also for everyone asking about the grinder, it really is an amazing machine, it's made by 84 Engineering and sold by www.artisansupplies.com.au :)

I started as a hammer operator and worked my way into maintenance and now I'm die maintenance in the forge department. I love my job and I love the forge department. It does get extremely hot as we have 12 slotted furnaces in our building and each furnace is around 2,200° F. He also uses a cross pein with the pien rotated 45 degrees from normal, I couldn’t figure it out until I noticed that the pein falls in line with the anvil when you take a normal comfortable stance in front of the anvil. All his stuff is worth watching.

Some country bought assembly line for Soviet fighter jets, and some knocked down kits. However, after assembly they got tractor, not a plane. One retry, two, three, rereading plans - still got tractors. Then they called original manufacturers to ask what's wrong. Their responce is:
    - Do you read assembly manual? You need to elaborately file the completed machine after the assembly!

I thought about making one but I decided to buy instead. I love this machine, it's extremely well built, I use it every day and it's going to last me years so I'm very happy with my purchase. You can see a tour of the grinder in this video czcams.com/video/F-jHm-AQZac/video.html and this is where I bought it from www.artisansupplies.com.au :)

I'd love to see the forging a hammer as a series! Sure, it's been done elsewhere, but everyone has a different take on the process and nuggets of knowledge come from each and every one.

Once again: WHAT A GREAT PROJECT!!!! It always baffels me how you come up with those amazing ideas. There can‘t be many people who, instead of buying a new hammer, look at the ones they already have and then make a new one out of them. And not only making a new hammer: It also looks great! IMPRESSIVE! 👏👍
I love your channel! Can‘t wait to see with what you are comming up next. 😁

The steel wedges would have held a bit stronger if they weren't such a smooth surface, but I think it will hold. Might be worth keeping in mind though when you make a better hammer.
