  • If you need to learn how to play cello with vibrato, this video tutorial is for you. I will explain in simple language what vibrato is, why to use it and how to play with vibrato by introducing several easy exercises. This cello lesson for adult beginners will give you the basic knowledge to start playing with vibrato without making many beginner's mistakes, which will be hard to get rid of in the future. This cello lesson and easy exercises will be helpful for you if you are learning how to play cello on your own, or even is you have a cello teacher to work with. We will start by describing what vibrato is. Vibrato is a musical effect obtained by slightly changing the pitch of notes while playing them. This can be done by using your left hand to move up and down on the fingerboard. The effect created is a beautiful and expressive sound.

    Thank you for sharing this! I admire your patient teaching style and you are very good at explaining the key details and why they are necessary. My vibrato has been for the longest time like those Wile E Coyote Looney Tunes cartoons when he walks off the cliff and the moment he notices that he is walking in air, just then that’s when he falls to the ground. When I started to slow everything down and just be there for a bit I’ve recently found that I can maintain the vibrato motion for more than ten seconds and it feels like such an achievement! Thanks again for reminding us just how important patience and the little by little approach is when playing the cello. I feel like without slow and steady progress we could all fall into a very difficult place of correcting everything that was learned without the basic slow and patient process. Sounds so easy, but hard to slow down as an adult learner sometimes

      Thank you, Tom. You always find the way to write very special comments. I have several teachers in my student life, and I found in a hard way what the difference a patient and caring teacher makes to student’s development. This what I am trying to share with all my in person and Cellopedia students.

    Bravo Maxim, I think your lesson is probably the most useful of all the videos I saw about vibrato. I am in the same: getting so many requests to make a CZcams video about vibrato 🤣 Difficult topic to explain and show that online! But you did it great! Will even send your video to a couple of my beginner students that want to learn about vibrato. Vibrato is something that will develop during the years. Again, wonderful lesson and content. Me as a professional cellist was listening from 0:00-16:57 to all of your advices! Well done! And I learned a thing or two! Not for me but for my teaching, so double thanks!

    Cкажите, пожалуйста, многие западные педагоги преподают вибрато движением туда-сюда как глиссандо. Вращение руки для вибрато- это русская школа, или всегда все-таки применимое действие?

    • @Cellopedia
      @Cellopedia  Před 2 lety

      Спасибо за вопрос! Я никогда не встречал в Европе или Америке педагога который бы учил vibrato как glissando. В этом видео я пытался объяснить что это был бы неправильный подход. По моему опыту русская школа и западная школа относятся к вибрато достаточно одинаково.

      @@Cellopedia А в России давалось упражнение - рукой по грифу между струнами быстро возить? С другой стороны, тот же педагог предлагал "грозить пальчиком" (это вращающее движение). Сегодня наткнулась на американский мастеркласс по вибрато - и там движение предлагают именно туда-сюда (как бутылку встряхивать, не вращая). Мы просто экспериментаторы - сын скрипач да пианист виолончель добавил полтора года назад, со скрипичными привычками , поэтому я как мама тоже пытаюсь вникнуть во все, чтобы поймать, если не та моторика при занятиях дома.
