  • So you want to ue that wicked powerful sounding JT-4000 from Behringer with a sequencer, not a DAW? Oh no - it's only got a USB port and no midi host built in, what's a producer to do?! Well Great new - I have a solution for that problem as well as ANY OTHER usb device that does not have MIDI ports on it, and you still want to use it with a DAWless setup!!
    This setup cost me some cash to demo, so please consider supporting the channel on my Kofi Account if this is useful to you. Even dontations as small as a couple dollars really help me out. If you want to support me - please feel free to use this link to donate.

    Glad to have helped! 👍
    And yes, it does cost a bit, but so do midi-merge and midi-thru devices. And as you said, it's for more than 1 synth (up to 4).
    Happy synthing!

      I actually just ordered a midi splitter. I believe it it’s one into six out… So I can split my signal to multiple devices from one device (one physical device anyway). My intent is to be able to use my simple track with multiple physical devices, splitting the channels up to different devices. And I get that’s how it works. It’s interesting because there seem to be many options that might work like a $9.99 cable which could technically just split the signal two ways and then if you plug in a second cable or third cable into that you could get it out to four for $30, but it would be very Jenkee I feel like lol. Anyway, yeah thanks for the tip though man that was very helpful and got this project figured out with that. There may be other ways to do it but I feel like this is the best way to do it.

    Houston We have Liftoff. After all the comments and your incredible patience trying to help me figure reason my JT-4000 wouldn’t connect to my midi controller I called tech support at seller’s location. He felt the problem lay at the DoreMidi host box but honestly wasn’t sure why as I made all the hookups correctly with power off and then turning keyboard and 4000 on. He asked me if I tried every order I could hooking things up and the one thing I hadn’t tried was once everything was hooked up and turned on I unplugged power to host box and replugged it in with all units left in on position. Success. Go figure the crazy idiosyncrasies of these devices. Again I greatly appreciate your time and patience and your video which gave me the tools to find a way to go dawless albeit it took some trial and error on my part. Hopes this helps others experiencing same difficulty.

    Joe, I used a usb/midi host box which worked. It was all in the order of how I plugged things in. A bit frustrating for a while but the JT-4000 through a full keyboard worth it.

    When I like something I buy 2 and this one of those, doubles the polyphony the best way to deal with MIDI Bluetooth is by far the best way. I have three Widi and a non midi host. The one that use A or B mini jacks I use Widi host, yeah it’s pricey but I take my music seriously enough I’ll pay it!nice sway to show the demo! I didn’t realize Sampletrack had a speaker! I usaly just use cheap 3 watter.

    • @Cap10NRGMusic
      @Cap10NRGMusic  Před 2 měsíci

      Well, for all the things I love about the sample trek. The speaker being there is definitely one… However, the quality of that speaker lol that’s a different story. It’s not a great speaker by any means it is there and it works. So it’s good enough. Yeah I hear you on the buying two in the polyphony factor because that device the JT 4000 is also cheap enough that you can buy several of them if you want to. The original Cynth was 16 voice polyphony and you can match it for 200 bucks technically which is pretty amazing. It’s kinda too bad that Berenger didn’t do what they usually do which is, if you own any of their desktop type since like the Model D, you can hook up up to 16 of them to each other, and they lock in together and play as one actually allowing you to have more polyphony as opposed to, the way these work they just show up as another instrument. Anyway, thanks for the comment. I hope you subscribed to the channel and I’ll see you around. Have a great day.

    Nice video - thanks a lot - just a question - is it possible to connect the JT-4000 with the Arturia Keystep via the Bespeco BMUSB100 (I have that one) or through what you have in the video? Or will I need anything else?

      I tried to connect my Arturia Keystep to my JT-4000 using setup in video with no success. I know the midi channels were set
      correct. I’ve tried a number of cable varieties but no good.

      Honestly, I’m not sure I haven’t tried any of those other controllers I don’t own them. If I had one, I would definitely give it a go and see what happens… I know it works with the MPC without any other hardware, and it worked with everything else with the add-on of that mini controller from DOREMIDI. Other than that, I really don’t know what it will work with. So far it has not worked with anything else I have directly, though I have not tried it with my montage or my Modx those might work though I do have doubts because I’m not sure that they have the right kind of controller coming out the back of them. I think that they’re just USB for memory cards as far as I know.

    • @Ringasd
      @Ringasd Před 3 měsíci +1

      HI, It doesn't matter, anyway thanks for the effort and for the answer, so far it's obvious that it probably needs something else that will not only transform the signal (MIDI to USB), but also somehow send it to the JT-4000 so that it works - so it's still going to take something - so far it's just been a power supply :-) - have nice days@@Cap10NRGMusic

    I got the replacement JT-4000 Micro today and it also didn’t work with my Doremidi box. I decided to duplicate your setup regarding the interface box and purchased the unit from link in your notes. Really a mystery as I tried another USB device in my interface box and it connected just fine to my Behringer Swing controller.
    On another more positive note I performed the latest upgrade to the JT-4000 and it added a bunch of really cool features such as various chord modes for keyboard and a hold function that holds notes or the arpeggiator. Highly recommend it.

    • @Cap10NRGMusic
      @Cap10NRGMusic  Před měsícem

      Hey there - ok so you know, the converter you need to use the JT-4000 with any other "True MIDI Device" meaning the typical 5 PIN DIN type plug (Like this: a.co/d/gaN8nvr) what you need is the DO-RE-MIDI converter (a.co/d/7U8nk3e) this will allow you to use the JT-4000 with any other MIDI Device, including the SMPLTREK which if you are looking for one of those you can find it here (amzn.to/3wOvXET). These are affiliate links which will (if you use them) not change the price on you - but will give my channel a small payout. Let me know if this helps. Don't forget to sub. :D

    • @Cap10NRGMusic
      @Cap10NRGMusic  Před 4 měsíci

      I just took a look at the interface, and what’s available for ports on the key step. It does not have midi out so unfortunately you are correct - you would need a usb to midi interface like the one here…

    • @delmeteor717
      @delmeteor717 Před 3 měsíci

      Not sure if it’s the Keystep or the JT-4000 which seems to have a connectivity issue. Seller is sending me a replacement.

    @delmeteor717 Před 3 měsíci +1

    Weird thing is the JT-4000 connected to my windows pc to update firmware but doesn’t connect directly to any of my controllers either thru USB micro b or midi using a usb/midi host box.

    • @Cap10NRGMusic
      @Cap10NRGMusic  Před 3 měsíci

      That is kind of weird. Yeah connecting to your windows that’s normal. It is class compliant, but the device that you plugged into needs to accept class compliant devices for it to work. And I’m really surprised that you’re having issues with the midi host box. I know the one I have worked perfect I wonder if there’s a setting to the one you have maybe there’s something in the manual like a channel setting or something where it only works with certain channel if that’s a thing maybe I don’t know.

      It’s same box you hsve. Simple C cable to midi connectiing 4000 to box and midi din cable from box to Behringer Swing midi out. I even tried reverse to no avail. I even see one of the videos shows a simple C to micro B cable connection to Swing and it plays perfectly. I will give you update when replacement unit arrives. Thank you for your patience. I have a number of mini synths with no problems. Even the JS Mini that came at same time works perfectly via regular midi din.

  • @longlostrobots8146

    • @Cap10NRGMusic
      @Cap10NRGMusic  Před 2 měsíci

      Yeah it’s not the USB that’s the issue - it’s that the key step does not provide a midi host… basically it needs a “computer” of sorts - the do-re-midi midi host is pretty much a tiny single purpose computer… crazy I know

  • @delmeteor717

    My Keystep has both midi in and out but the setup above did not work. JT-4000 gets power but midi does not transmit to allow use of keyboard to play JT-4000. I’m using the DoreMidi USB host box with same setup as unit in video.

    • @Cap10NRGMusic
      @Cap10NRGMusic  Před 3 měsíci

      Interesting did you check to be sure that it was transmitting on channel 1? That’s the channel that the GT 4000 is expecting to receive on initially out of the box.

    • @delmeteor717
      @delmeteor717 Před 3 měsíci +1

      Thank you for getting back. I did set channel for both units beforehand. I’ll try the Behringer Swing when it arrives. The video is very helpful and the use of the usb host box reminded me I have one which is good to know with usb /midi power inputs.

      One last update - unit didn’t work with Swing keyboard either. Even tried both internal and USB settings. Seller definitely felt it’s not sending out signal and is sending a replacement.

    • @Cap10NRGMusic
      @Cap10NRGMusic  Před 3 měsíci

      @delmeteor717 yeah that’s what it sounds like. If it’s working with a computer it’s not the GT 4000 so it’s got to be that it’s not transmitting the proper signal for it to play. If you have access to an MPC or an Akai force maybe try one of those I’m about to actually try the GT 4000 on my Yamaha gear here and see what happens.

      lol.. sorry you feel that way but that’s the only way. Not my fault I didn’t design the thing come up with something better if you can. The only other way I can think of is to learn to program an Arduino and create an interface, but you’ll still be spending hundreds of hours of time trying to figure out how to make it work. and $25-$45 on the device to make it work so have had it. Why don’t you come up with a better solution if you can

    Quick question. Wall charger for JT-4000 is
    5v2a ?

    • @Cap10NRGMusic
      @Cap10NRGMusic  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Hey there! Thanks for the sub - to answer your question here is what I found...
      The Behringer JT-4000 Micro is powered via a USB-C connection and requires a power supply of 5V 2A. This means it needs a power source that can deliver 5 volts of electricity at a current of 2 amps.
      Here are some options for powering your Behringer JT-4000 Micro:
      * Computer USB Port: Most modern computer USB ports can provide 5V 2A, so you can likely power your JT-4000 Micro directly from your computer.
      * USB Power Bank: A USB power bank with at least a 2A output can be a good option for portable use.
      * Wall Charger: You can use a wall charger with a USB-C output that provides 5V 2A. Make sure to use a good quality charger to avoid damaging your device.
      I personally have powered it with my iPhone charger, the built in USB ports on my surge protector, my PC, my Mac, an MPC One/Key 16/ and Akai Force. Hope that helps!! You are gonna love the sound of that thing - they are intense!!
