Thanks that was fun
Lite Brite enjoyed by Christmas past, present, and future...:)
Yes!! I hope it will make a comeback this year. The new version is great! Thanks for watching :)
I was born in the 90s and I absolutely loved this toy
Itâs such a classic! This one never gets old. Thanks for stopping by our channel! đ
Excellent video! Brought back good memories of 1970s when my daughter was quite young! đđ
Aww, thank you! đ„°
i had one as a kid..was so much fun to miss with...thanks for bring back found memories...have a sweet sunday guys!!
Cool! Glad you enjoyed your Lite-Brite as a kid too! Thanks for watching :)
I loved the Lite Brite. I would always make my own designs. Awesome times.
My sister had a light bright when I was a toddler. I stood on it, using it as a step-up stool. It broke.
Oops!! đŹ
The only instructions were how to put in the batteries. That was it! I was about to pry with force the screen to open it up. It doesn't open, of course. This video saved the day for me. But there was only a two second reference to the holes "sealing up". I would have liked to have seen a demonstration of the thing actually working that way.
Itâs an interesting design for sure, totally unexpected! Iâm glad we were able to help out though. Thanks for watching!
Hi my friends, wow! this brought back fond memories...great unboxing and fantastic updated version....so much fun! Thanks for sharing and happy weekend đ
Thank you Ernest!! đ€
Yes I remember the lite brute. Great unboxing
Thanks for the video brings back great memories of my past
Sure thing! Thanks for stopping by our channel Hank! đ
I got one the Christmas of 1973.
I got on of these for the girls for Christmas! So fun!
Cool! They're so artsy and creative. I'm sure they'll love it!
omg ur guys channel is so cute and wholesome thank you for bringing back so much nostalgia i really wish you guys the best i love yall đ
That's so sweet, thank you!!
@@Our80sLife mhm :)
Think my parents still have my original 1980's one. Awesome memories! Great to know new pegs will fit the old one.
Nice!! We wish we still had Abby's old one. We kept it for many years, and our daughter played with it too. But at some point, we must have gotten rid of it. Oh well, the new one is great! Thanks for watching :)
I was born in 1984 and I love the Lite-Brite. I ended up with the little one for christmas last year. I got the big one in early February of this year.
Nice! We still love the Lite-Brite too, such a classic! Thanks for stopping by our channel Aaron!
@@Our80sLife You're welcome
Love the high energy makes dull grey England a little more livable thanks for the upload guys
Aww, thank you! It's a grey day here in Kansas too. Glad we could offer some cheer!
Omg, I lovedddddd Lite-Brite!!!!!!! So fun đ
Me too! It's still fun!! Thanks for stopping by :)
I know it's just a kid's toy, and that my high school graphic design classes are likely causing me to be a bit biased, but the lack of red baffles me. Imagine trying to make a cherry and it ends up looking like a ball of chewed gum with a stem because the closest you had was pink.
That aside...DEAR GOD, THE NOSTALGIA.
We totally agree!! It's weird that they didn't include red, ugh. Still a super fun toy though! Thanks for watching!
80s always cool thank you for bringing me back best wishes from the land of Ireland
Thanks Bowstar!!
Never saw this toy. How fun. Lovely gadget :D
Really?! Oh yes, it's a classic! Very fun! Glad we could introduce you to Lite-Brite, ha! Thanks Piyali :)
Hi there! Just got this today after wanting this for a while. Yes, itâs smaller with less colors (red and violet) than the older version but I just love the multifunctional options. I loved this as a kid as it reminds me of a mini version of the Main Street Electrical Parade and Electrical Water Pageant.
Awesome!! Hope you enjoy your new Lite-Brite, and thanks for watching our video Terry!
I don't like that there is no way to lock the template in place. Otherwise its great.
I get what you're saying. The original model had those little tabs on the sides, but this one doesn't. I think you can just add your first couple of pegs on the outer portions of the design, and those will hold the template in place.
It's cool to see all of these retro toys coming back again! The one I had in the 80's definitely didn't have a unicorn farting rainbows template! Haha
Ha ha, same. I think we had the classic sailboat and creepy clown, lol! As it turns out, Lite-Brite is still pretty fun!
Oh I loved my brite light
Me too! It's still a great toy, and I actually really enjoyed playing with it again. It's a relaxing activity.
I was at a thrift store yesterday and pointed out to Kevin there was an original one
Mine didn't come with instructions so I had to look on YT to find out how to use the templates.
Hope this helps! đ
@@Our80sLife mine didnt come with instructions either...hence forth why im watching this!
The old colors fit in the new, nice, Unicorn - good video!
All of my cousins had one of those. I can remember playing with it so many times. I still think about playing with it a lot lol. Yeah they used to be pretty huge. I like the joke Abby haha. and The Flat screen version haha.
Thank Ronnie! Sounds like some fond memories for you too! We both remember enjoying our Lite-Brites back in the day. And it was such a shock to see how flat it was when we took the new one out of the box, wow! Still a great toy!
@@Our80sLife Yeah I think that would have shocked me too haha.
I had and then later, got them for my kids.
Cool! Our daughter played with my old one back in the day, but now I don't know what happened to it. We like the new one! Thanks for watching :)
I got a light brite Christmas of 1979 and my Mom took it back to the store do to the fact it didn't have an on off switch she was afraid that I would walk away from it and it would get hot and catch the house on fire đ„
Oh no!! That's sad. Good news... the new one takes batteries, so there's no risk of house fires. Guess that doesn't help you now though, sigh.
Flat screen lite Brite? It's about time
Yes! The new version of the Lite-Brite truly lives up to the "new and improved" claim. We LOVE the sleek design and flat screen.
@@Our80sLife that's good because the CRT lite brites couldn't be hung on a wall
Hi guys!! This is so cool!!
Thanks!!
70's for me
Hi you guys! Iâm so behind on your videos but Iâm catching up now! Can you believe I never had a Lite Brite when I was little? I always wanted one! Kenadie had one when she was little and it was a cube! We got this version for Keaton for Christmas and she loves it! Of course Keith would make the fart joke! đđ
Hey Krista! No worries, I think youâve been a tad busy, lol! We were excited to see Keaton got a Lite Brite for Christmas! They really are a great toy! đŠđ
Wow did my mom regret getting me this toy when I was a kid. It only worked well in the dark, so I would constantly turn all the lights off in whatever room or area of the house I was using the Lite Brite in, be it night or day. It really pissed my dad off when I did it during a Houston Rockets game, this was the early 80s. She found the Etch A Sketch a far less irritating toy, she got me this to shut me up when I got chickenpox the next year...
Oh my!! We've never had much success drawing on the Etch-a-Sketch, but I've seen some neat designs. That thing is a lesson in patience, lol!
@@Our80sLife In the mid 80s Etch-a-Sketch made these clear sheets of projector paper with connect the dots, mazes and simple puzzles on them that you could put on the "screen" and use the knobs to complete the designs. Now that I'm describing this, I'm realizing that the toys I grew up around sucked compared to stuff available now...
I gave this to my friends birthday. I want to see how good it it!
Nice gift! We love the new and improved Lite-Brite. Hope your friend enjoys it too!
@@Our80sLife thank you!
Can you order more patterns for more designs, or to replace the ones you use? I know can just put the used ones back, but would be nice to be able to have replacement pages...
Yes! We found some refill packs on Amazon, here's a link to order: amzn.to/3IUTTJX
I'm pretty sure they came with Bozo the Clown and Bugs Bunny patterns in the 70s when I had one. That was one of those toys that after begging for Santa Claus to bring it, you pleayed with it a few times and never touched it again. Too long to plug in the pegs, and after plugging it in, it was kind of so-so to look at it. Then you had to gather up all the pegs and put them in the right box.
Interesting! Thanks for watching our video and sharing your memories Rick! I remember storing by Lite-Brite pegs in an old Cool Whip container, lol!
Thanks for explaining that you donât need black paper to make your own designs!
Sure! We were confused by that at first. This new version is really cool! Thanks for watching đ
We got this for our daughter and she loves it. The lighting inside could be improved.
It needs LED's covering the whole inside back panel or most of it.
Just bought on for my niece. My nineteen year old and I will probably play with it more than she. Lol
Nice! It really is fun for all ages. Enjoy đ
It's a wonderful toy for a girl and a boy!
The light seems to be dim near the edges. Did you find that the light is not evenly distributed?
Not that we could tell... we didn't notice that.
@@Our80sLife i upgraded mine. czcams.com/video/N0XNAFzjWBQ/video.html
That's how mine is. I can't even tell what one of the patterns is.
You can still buy them in amazon,
Yes! There is a link in the description of this video ;)
Very niceđđ» thanks for sharing this video âșïžhave a nice dayâ âČâĄâš friend best wishes for you đđđč
Didn't the original Lite Bright (1967) have to be plugged in ??? I don't recall batteries
Yes, that's one of the changes with the new one. Those old ones used to get really hot, so it's definitely better in that aspect as well.
She is playing with it now
Cool! Good parenting on your part. This is one of the best toys from our childhood for sure!
Kids today would be what kind of IPAD is this?!? Now they blink..how psychedelic lol Used to have one, its probably still in the folks attic somewhere. I'm trying to recall if the old version had just plain black paper/refills or if there were designs on them. If they had designs on them, I think mom and dad cheaped out and just got black paper....hmmmm... Thanks for going down memory lane today!
So true! If I remember correctly, I think the old version came with both design refills and plain paper so you could make your own designs. The new version is pretty impressive compared to the old one. Thanks for watching :)
My parents were y cheap to buya refill kit we used black construction paper
That works! Maybe they just wanted to encourage your creativity ;)
Nice! You should make a Christmas tree for Christmas! đ The old ones got hot too!
Great idea! We were thinking of trying to make some channel art, like maybe our logo or something like that. We had another viewer who told us his mom took away his Lite-Brite because she was worried it would cause a house fire, eek! I think it was just a standard light bulb, but they did get hot. After all, the Mini-Bake Oven was powered by a light bulb, and that thing could bake a cake, lol!
@@Our80sLife Yes, I loved cooking with my easy bake oven. Mine was a different kind, though. It looked like a real stove (you opened the oven door) and the top of the stove have four elements that the heat came out of. I'd put little pots on the top. Lol
My daughter has one
You're cute when you giggle after you speak. No offense to your husband though. Never had a lite bright when I was young. I was more into sports stuff. But it's one of those toys I'd have liked to try out if I went to a friends house and they had it.
Thanks John! đ
I wonder if it will work with the original pegs
Yes, we tried the original pegs in the new Lite-Brite, and they worked fine.
I just got a used one of these that is in great condition. However, I don't like how these don't stay lit. They eventually turn off. I wish there was a setting where it would stay on due to I display my child's creations like art. I have a Christmas tree he made on the original one that we have not changed in years. He doesn't want me to change it and the light stays on like a lamp so that I can display it.
Thanks for watching our video! That's a good idea, and it would be nice if they would stay lit for a display. The old ones plugged in and stayed lit indefinitely; however, that caused them to get really hot. Overall, we really like the new product though.
Wow, you got Lite-Brite refill packs???? I never got the refill packs, but Iâve been to monster truck rallies!
Yep. We were late to the party when it comes to monster trucks, but now we are fans! Monster Jam comes to our city on Abby's birthday, so we've gone the past couple of years. So fun!!
no cord ? let me find a vintage one... a want to display it 24/7
It would make for a neat display, but just as a warning, those old ones get really hot!
@@Our80sLife Thx ! I was thinking of changing the bulb for a black light one ! Otherwise i found usb power AAA battery that could work with the new version. :)
@@slaizen Were you able to figure out how to override the automatic shut off? Mine seems to shut off after five minutes.
It didn't come with enough pegs!
We agree, it's a good idea to buy some extra ones.
Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!
Hellooooooo Tara! đ
The flat screen version lol
It's funny, we were both so amazed at its size and shape when we opened it. Like we were expecting that big, boxy thing from our childhood, lol!
Are both of you Gen X'ers (born between 1965 and 1980)?
Yes we are! We were both born in the mid-70s.
@@Our80sLife Awesome, I was born in 1979. I am going to go through the channel....
@@btetschner Nice! Welcome to our channel, and thanks for watching! đ
Dune buggy for sure lol
Not as fun when it's no longer one h377 of a fire hazzard.

Too funny... but true. I got my daughter a Lite Brite around 1976 and I enjoyed it as much as she did. Even our cat played with those pegs. Memories!
The new lite brite pegs SUCK! there is NO TIP blunted for safety probably its HARD to push them in and after awhile your fingers hurt! (this is coming from someone who nordic skiis in alaska every day) lol old shit is always betterđ chinsy on quantity of pegs too!
Yes, I noticed afterwards that the new ones were missing the pointed tip. Dang safety standards, lol! Thanks for watching!
