- At Comme une Française, we focus only on the specifics of speaking, understanding, and being understood in everyday French, and we have unique ways to help you learn it properly and faster. Part of this means telling you what you can STOP learning to prioritize what’s really important if you want to make fast progress.
One way I do this is pointing out mistakes you might be making that aren’t so obvious to you as a non-native speaker. Take direct translations, for example. When congratulating someone in English, you might tell them: “well done.” Which, of course, is “bien fait” in French. But saying “bien fait” to someone might actually be a little… awkward.
In today’s lesson, I’ll explain why “bien fait” isn’t the proper expression to use when congratulating someone in Fernch. I’ll also tell you what you can use isntead, with plenty of opportunities to practice these replacement expressions.

1. We focus only on the specifics of speaking/understanding/being understood in everyday French and have unique ways to help you learn it properly & faster.
2. We focus on shortcuts to help you make progress faster, which also means we tell you exactly what you can stop learning to prioritize what’s really important.
3. We use French culture as the subject to make it fun and interesting for adults.
Take care and stay safe.

I've also heard/read some friends here in Provence say or write, "Bien joué" or "Well played", literally, to praise a job well done or, maybe more specific, finding a solution to a problem. Am I right in this assumption? Thanks as always, Geraldine!
Chapeaux !
Very helpful in correcting the habit of literal translation of a phrase. Thanks

j'aime le lapin avec de grandes oreilles ( I cheated and looked up the translation! Would have gotten most of it right except I would have thought it would be "les grandes oreilles"" or "avec grandes oreilles")
