Thanks so much for your channel! May I add: "Menager son temps" sounds like it was loan-translated into English as, "to manage one's time." While "Ca demenage" sounds like English slang "Get outta here!", mixing joy and surprise. English-speakers will remember these phrases better by thinking of them this way. Encore, merci bon coup! we sometimes use "déménager" applied to someone, to say he's going mad... it means he's loosing his mind.

Oh wow, I had a dream about this word last night - I used it by accident. I presume it is the origin of our word "manage"?
For a couple, un ménage, does it imply two people taking on the task of life together?
Just imply that the couple live together, at the same house.
@@grouloulle I mean if you dig deeper into the word. Not the everyday "I never thought about it" meaning, but if you go back to the origins of the word.

this dictionnary says it come from an ancient verb "manoir" (to stay, to remain), and "manoir" comes from the latin " manere", same meaning.

Bonjour Geraldine. L'utilisation de vous et tu est toujours un probleme pour moi en les langues etrange. Il me plait de parlez avec mes colleges en bureau en leur lange du mere est ca dit que je dois toujours utilise VOUS. Ma probleme est en suite. Quand mes colloeges me parlent en Anglais nous n'avons pas ce difference en plus nous utilison toujours le prenom et donc quand on bascuie de nouveau a Francais c'est difficile de ne soit familaire. En Anglais prenom toujours mais en Francais le nom. Il me confuse! Est ce qu'il y a une video a ce sujet. . On n'a pas une clavier FRancais. On espere que tu a compris.

Maintenant pour un homme ou une femme qui fait le ménage on dit "technicien/technicienne de surface" ou "agent d'entretien". C'est un peu comme "personne à faible mobilité" pour dire handicapé ou "personne de couleur" pour dire "un noir", c'est un ersatz de la "Bien-pensance". ^^
