45596 'Bahamas' Goes Solo On The Great Britain XV

- Action from day two of the Great Britain 15 steam tour would feature the double chimney Jubilee 45596 Bahamas heading from Bristol to Llandudno and for a bonus there was no need for an assisting diesel. The action starts at Bristol with the climb to Filton Abbey Wood captured at Concorde way and approaching Lockleaze. Both shots were not ideal due to the public footpath being currently under construction and in the second shot we encountered a very high fence and was barely able to get over it so we had to reign in on the zoom and pan. Once out of Bristol and into Wales, the weather worsened and with the Jubilee running early it was eased back on approach to Abergavenny, which was a shame as usually the driver would be putting down the power as they get ready to hit the bottom of Llanvihangel at Abergavenny. Thankfully in the next scene the Jube was opened up on the final approach towards the station and it powered past the signal box and the fantastic array of semaphore signals in style.
After the lengthy layover at Hereford we once again captured Bahamas, this time at Bromfield just after Ludlow Racecourse and then finally high up at Onibury which topped off our day nicely. A testing day for us but thankfully the results were more than worthy of a showing. We can now look forward to the rest of the Great Britain tour and fingers crossed there should be a couple more days of action to share with you. Also keep an eye out for my video of the Severn Valley Railway Spring Steam Gala which should go live tomorrow evening. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
And today is the day when our Indian Railways first started the journey I.e., 16th April, 1853 the first train ran between Bombay VT to Thane with three steam locos and with 14 carriages carrying 400 people on board. The three steam locos are Sindh,Sultan,Sahib.
Very enjoyable as ever 🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃
Excellent video Phil and Liam. Great selection of locations. Good day filming. Always enjoy watching your videos. We captured her on Friday. She looks fantastic. All the best C&A
Absolutely cracking, as always.
Many thanks.
Brilliant as usual! What always surprises me is that for such a prestigious steam rail tour, WCR/RTC don't employ a complete rake of matching livered coaches. It would visually look so much better.
Very nicely filmed. 10/10
Excellent footage there Liam. Nice to see Bahamas working on its own rather having a weasel (diesel) on the back.
Wow that's some travelling guys, lovely video of 45596 at work. Who would have thought after her Dinting days she would perform like this. Well done to the lads that keep her in top nick. 😊
One minor correction to your introduction. The loco wasn't "eased because we were running early". It was because there were many loco specific 60mph restrictions over bridges, which effectively acted as a blanket 60 from Penpergwm to Abergavenny Station! That was the speed we were doing and it was only opened out as the gradient steepened further. I know. I was the driver!
Bill, Thanks for the clarification. Its been a while since I've filmed on that section of line and wasn't aware of the bridge restrictions. I hope you had a good run ? It looked like you did !
@Marsh Steam Videos™ strangely, the restrictions were not on when we did the same run in November last year. NR impose loco specific restrictions each time a Steam charter runs. I have done the same job, with the same loco a week apart, yet had restrictions in places where there were none on the previous trip. It's the luck of the draw as to what appears at the end of our NR STN's!
Hi many thanks for posting your lovely video on CZcams very nice camera work as usual cracking video well done i am really enjoying your lovely videos bye for now Philip
Fabulous, as usual, thanks for all your hard work.
Bahamas looks in superb nick.
Quality as ever Liam & Phil , looking good for the next few days with no assistance deemed necessary 👍
Another spectacular video. Enjoyed watching once again and have a wonderful rest of your weekend.(Steve)
Looks like this loco is going strong without a diesel assistant boys
Outstanding; thank you for sharing
Fantastic video 👍
Great viewing
Very nice done video, thumbs up :)
Brilliant as usual- many thanks
What's not to love about Bahamas? As for the SVR Spring Steam Gala, other CZcamsrs have already shown their footage of it, and I've watched the videos. Yes, I get different shots each time, which is good, don't get me wrong. Then again, it's great that you all manage to capture the steamies in different ways. It's just that for me, it gets a bit boring seeing the same steam gala over again. Pendennis Castle is going great among her fellow steamies.😂
No diesel support: makes a nice change
Hi my name is Phil I have fired this locomotive in my time on the footplate I started at EDGELEY IN 1961 and finished at longsight at 2011 Regards Phil.
A solo trip for Bahamas Yhe Great Britain XV.
I do wish i could persuade our suoport crew to run with open curtains when the train is in motion!
Just seen it it was pulled back along to chester by a class 47
Do these diesels actually do anything.?
