Just had my first ever CT scan today with oral and IV contrast and all I can say is if you’re feeling nervous about the procedure, don’t, even though I myself was nervous heheh. It’s such a quick test, literally finished mine in 5 minutes. It’s really the preparation that takes the longest.
If you ever get this, I hope nothing goes wrong nor is there anything bad found in the results. And if they do find something, I hope all goes well with whatever treatment you’re given.🙏👍

I had one a while back for the possibility of blood clots. Aside from the sudden warmth from the IV contrast, it was a pretty neat experience altogether considering it was my first time getting a scan

I have a question regarding when a CT scan is performed. Is it necessary for the gantry to rotate around the body to get the images required. or can your body be scanned by just having the body be moved back and forth into the machine while holding your breath .Also is there a light that comes on.

I know Im a bit late to respond, but a slight tiredness is normal. Its because you get a pretty large dose of radiation with a CT, especially a full breast CT, and your body has to normalize any chemical unbalance. Especiallly the amount of red blood cells drops. This is also known as radiation hangover, and usually goes away within a few days.

Hi. A day before I turned 17 in 2007, I had a brain tomography with contrast due to fainting, falling and seizures. The study was carried out the day after the incident I suffered. My brain was intact. Is there a possibility that I would get sick at some time due to the radiation received just over 12 years ago? The study lasted about 15 minutes. At first they resumed it after a few seconds because they said I had moved. I am 29 years old today and I have a healthy brain. This data was confirmed last year by an MRI. The scanner was a toshiba tct 300s. Thank you so much everyone.

i remember having a CT scan and lemme tell yall all the tea. first, come early to book your appointment cause they will give a whole bottle full of some water (but it's not water tho the taste is very different) four hours before your appointment and if yall go late then it will get really late after the scan is done. second, after four hours are gone (also go to the washroom after drinking the water, don't hold it) you will be sent to the room and they will put a cannula iv set in one of your veins near your wrist joint and they'll add two medicines and if you've ever had a allergy from any medicine then tell them, tell them even if you didn't, then you'll get a document to sign. third, strip, literally take off everything except your inner wear like for real everything and they'll give you a hospital gown so wear it. fourth, then after some time you'll be sent inside the CT scan room, go lay down on your back and put your hands above your head like when you're stretching and keep it there but don't lock your fingers together or anything, just cross your wrists against each other and keep them up, then one of the doctors will come and check if everything is in place and then they'll begin. fifth, don't breathe when they tell you not to, the doctor told me that they'll inform me when to hold my breath or not through the speaker cause if not then it would ruin my skin and the way i panicked but like for real, do what they're saying. sixth, don't allow your parents/guardian inside the CT scan room. seventh, after a few rounds, they'll come and add another medicine and it did kinda hurt tho but it ended after a few seconds so, it's fine. eight, DO NOT MOVE. ninth, after everything is done ask them about when will the reports be ready and guys, don't make such a silly mistake like my mum did. so, basically the cannula iv set was still inside me and my mum being someone who doesn't have patience took me and got out of the hospital, even tho the doctor told her that they'll take it out after half an hour and GURL- WHEN I SAY I CRIED LIKE A BITCH THAT MEANS I CRIED LIKE A BITCH LIKE FOR REAL, EVERYONE WAS STARING AT US LIKE WE WERE SOME RUNAWAYS FROM THE HOSPITAL LIKE WTF AND I WAS LITERALLY CRYING SO MUCH AND THEN MY MUM FELT GUILTY AND BOUGHT PIZZA AND THEN TOOK ME TO A CHEMIST, WE GOT IT REMOVED BUT MY HAND WAS SWOLLEN AND THEN HE SAID THAT THE IV SET WAS INSERTED NEAR A JOINT SO, IT WILL CAUSE SWELLING SO AFTER FIFTEEN MINUTES TAKE OFF THE COTTON AND TAPE AND PUT SOME ICE ON THE SWELLING AND NOT TO TOUCH IT- and yea hope yall don't make the same mistake as me plus if they'll tell you to come back after half an hour to get it removed then just go to the cafeteria to eat something cause i was starving like seven hours without any food. tenth, after you get home, go remove the cotton and tape, put some ice for some minutes, take a shower (if yall want), eat something and rest plus don't put much pressure on your wrist... k now bye ☺🔫

I can help answer that. Some of diseases and abnormalities is cannot be shown using basic Xray examination because basic Xray only shown simple anatomy (not all organ visible) and nonspecific volume of abnormality. By using Cross Sectional Anatomy from CT scan (or MRI), we can gave doctor and patient exact number of disease volume and more specific organ that is affected.
In your case, Herniated Disc (or HNP > Hernia Nuclei Pulposi) is very delicate neurological/orthopedical abnormality which doctor examine spine, disc spine, and spinal cord that is affected. Using basic Xray probably only shown that the affected disc is shrinking between your vertebrae column and by using CT, you'll saw that stuffing that filling up the Disc is pushing your spinal cord and causing BIG PROBLEM because it function to control "unconscious movement" like peristaltic of stomach even Heartbeat.
About the danger level, it's has more radiation so of course it more "dangerous" even though radiation effect is really Random and has a lot of probability.
CT Scan can be seriously dangerous by using Contrast Dye on patient with allergy
