  • How to undo the line clip when fighting a big fish & Re Clip at the right distance 2 Easy Ways. Many anglers understand the importance of casting to exactly the same place when Feeder Fishing. It places your goundbait or pellets in a tight area and if you are fishing to a far bank feature, it also stop you from overcasting. The way to do this, of course is to use the line clip on your reel spool to "Clip Up" at the required distance.
    Unfortunately, there will come a time when a big fish takes your bait and screams off into the distance, forcing you to unclip your line from the line clip. So, how do you unclip without losing the fish and then get back to the same distance after unclipping? In this episode, I show you two easy ways to achieve this goal.

    I've never dared try clipping up in open water because I was sure the bigger carp would just smash the line. Now you've explained how to deal with that problem, I am really looking forward to my next trip. Thank you so much for the video.

    Hi dan good video but you could use distance sticks or to bank sticks just lay your rod on the bank behind your peg and push one bank stick in the ground at the bottom of your rod butt and push the other bank stick in the ground at the end eye on your rod tip then rap your method feeder twice around one of the sticks and then start rapping the line from your rod around both sticks from one to the other counting every rap when you have got the distance you want to fish at put the line clip on and if you have to take the line out of the clip you have got a reference of how menny raps you need to do to be fishing on the same spot this methord is used by a lot of specimen carp anglers

    By far the best line clips from Map always work 100 percent if you set them up correctly, I can highly recommend these reels from Map for any feeder angler. You can also use a sensas line marker to easily find the same casting distance.

    Another great vid. I have seen that wetting the line before you start helps with the cast. Aso if you can do a long cast with a lead over snag free field to get rid of the twists that liketo get behind your reel when ever you have decent fish on ;)

    God I'm getting slow on the uptake! I've watched about ten of your videos and only just realized you are in Australia! I wondered how Den's Pond could possibly exist, a place with more fish than most UK commercials and nobody fishing it. I thought it must be in the middle of some executive homes estate in Surrey where everyone else was only interested in playing golf!! Now I know why it's always sunny.
    Great videos.

      Lol. Thanks mate. I got here 4 years ago on retirement and by sheer luck, I bought a house on the estate with Den's Pond in it. The first time I fished it, I didn't know if it even had any fish. Locals walking their dogs use to come up and say 'Why are you fishing here? There's no fish". Who Knew eh?

    Hi Den, Thanks for the video, could have used the tip about not to free-spool line around bank stick last week - what a mess I made of my line😂 . As you explained, casting of the method feeder is more complicated then it first appears, the lifting of the rod as the feeder hits the water is key to providing some line to work with in order that you’re not sitting at the very limit on the line clip. The other trick I found, after my disaster with the bank stick measuring method was to get some Drennan Power Gum in Red and tie a 5 turn slip knot on my main line at my desired distance. Even the 14lb Power Gum will cast through the rod eyes and gives an easy way of resetting the distance when fishing to a bank. Thanks again for the great content and for responding so directly to your subscribers.

    • @FishingwithDen
      @FishingwithDen  Před 3 lety

      No worries Clive. I'm glad I could help. By the way I have seen the Powergum idea before, but I have never tried it. When you say you used a 5 turn slip knot, is that the same as the knots used for locking slider floats?

    • @clivebrooker1
      @clivebrooker1 Před 3 lety

      @@FishingwithDen Yes, and the rubbery nature of the Powergum means it's nice and grippy even on fluorocarbon line although it will slide with a bit of effort.

    I use the MAP reel too , just makes life easier , I use a line marker as no room for bank sticks where I fish , and unless I write it down , I'll forget reel turns .
    I' m not bothered about being bang on every cast though , as I create splodges of bait in an area , and I am not casting to features , nor do I fish commercials where I might overcast into the swim of the bloke opposite lol.
    None of the French lads round here fish the feeder , but continentals tend to use the elastic method- which I couldn't get the hang of , its shown at the end of this gents video - think its tip No 5 .

    Cast out where you want, clipped up, and let the feeder settle. Then use a white marker pen, rubbing it over about a foot of line in front of the reel. It's an easy way to get back to the right distance, after unclipping.

    Hi Den, I’m new to coarse fishing and have started method fishing with a lot of success. My question is this, when fishing after about 4 or 5 casts I find that every time I bring the line in to bait up again or remove a fish the line is twisted around the tip, I’ve already broken 2 tips and had snap offs when this has happened. Can you help. Many thanks in advance. Tim

    • @FishingwithDen
      @FishingwithDen  Před 3 lety +1

      Line twisting around the tip after a fish or re-baiting is very common when feeder fishing Tim. It's caused by slack line, so if you can, try to keep a very small amount of tension between the feeder end and the rod tip during the process. Also, check to make sure there is no twisting around the tip when you pick the rod back up. You can do this by lifting the rod so the feeder is out of the water, then pull on the line gently between the reel and the first ring. If there is a twist on the tip, you will feel it. This way, you can clear the twist before you actually cast. I hope this helps. Tight lines.
