BMW E92, 3.0L 335i - Michael Rocks Up Genting/ YS Khong Driving/ Joel Jasmin - You Asked For This!

- A couple of weeks ago, Joel Jasmin asked if I would be taking the E92 335i up Genting, and the good news is, Michael Chin, our top fan and good friend volunteered his 2009 E92 335i for us to check out on Genting, and here we are with the video.
The car is 13 years old, but thanks to the previous owner taking good care of it, and also thanks to Michael doing some important upkeep on the E92, we are able to tap a little into the power on our way up. The oil temperature went up a little, perhaps because I pushed it a little too hard, but the system slowed everything down to protect the drive train, and a few minutes later, after we breached the top, the car was back to normal again.

I'm a few months late to the party but wow! I didn't expect my little wish to come true let alone getting mentioned in the video.It's always magical to see Uncle's skill on Genting roads, especially when the rear end pops out ahaha. But to see him do it in one of my dream cars is truly next level. Fantastic driving as always, Uncle! Thank you for entertaining my request and thank you to Michael for lending the car. The car is beautiful! I've always loved the E92's shape. Problem is when young no money. When older ..... BMW's ride (current G20 330i) is too firm as a daily - for me and more importantly for my wife whom veto'ed the car. Maybe i should try the 330e with the adaptive suspension thing, 90% in comfort mode lor.
Maybe ..... i should have a look at an older model (assuming the ride is not as firm as the current) and just man up to the alleged "high cost of maintenance"

Seems like a very very powerful engine , especially when you hear the engine revs at high speeds and a brilliant driver at the wheel. Seems like a bumpy ride though, probably due to the rougher roads up Genting. Would the roads up the North South Highway be smoother ? I haven't been to Malaysia in a long time.
Of course the highways are smoother.

I have a e46 with a auto ZF transmission. , when it is approaching the genting temple, the transmission lights come on too and power is limited. Each time I go up, wonder why its like that 😅
Oil temperature too high is the probable cause. The ECU senses this and cuts down power.
Try a transmission cooler. Could also be the transmission oil level - the slope there is quite steep, so you sholud check the oil level too.
