  • In this video, I’ll go over my 4 year ownership experience with my 2008 #BMW #335i N54 engine, while also highlighting some of the #maintenance items you will have to look out for when purchasing this car. I also cover everything I've replaced along with the cost associated with those parts. Most of the repairs mentioned in this video are also relevant to the E90 & E82 body style, as well as, the N55 engine. Maintenance is key when owning ANY BMW and it plays an integral role is the long lasting life of vehicle.

    Man that thing is perfect! Great wheels, great stance, and a few subtle mods. I think these cars are nearly perfect on their own, so it’s nice to see one that stays true to the inherent beauty of the E92! I absolutely love mine.
    Once you get familiar with how BMW engineers think about things, they are really very easy to work on! Take care of these cars and they will take care of you, especially these older ones. Great video man.

    I've owned my '09 N54 for nearly seven years and am the second owner. It has averaged me $80 a month to keep on the road, I DIY'd the VCG but had an Indy do the water pump/thermostat because of time limitations. The total also includes a set of PS4S' and a couple small mods but not the Sport front and rear bumpers. I have the OFHG in my tool bag but there is no sign of a leak at this time. It's been a great car and I had no regrets replacing my E46 325Cic, it had too many previous owners and they didn't maintain it very well so I spent the first couple of years catching up on the maintenance.

      It’s pricey bro I had to replace the oil pan gasket and shops/dealership quoted me 2k+ I would’ve done it myself but to replace my gasket I needed to drop the subframe which would’ve been a pain in itself just for a gasket just keep in mind the n54 is German and German engineering isn’t cheap or easy to work on

    • @MotoGearTV
      @MotoGearTV  Před 7 měsíci +3

      It had 60k miles when I did the first maintenance item which was the oil filter housing gasket. After that, I replaced the water pump and valve cover gasket. Around the 60k - 80k mile mark is usually when you'll have to replace the items I listed in the video. However, these cars can last well over 200k miles if the proper maintenance is done.

    Forgot to mention carbon buildup in the intake valves, the rear main seal tends to leak, vanos solenoids and the plastic coolant flange that can crack. Other than that, good video bruh💯👌🏿 I've owned an e92 335i for about a year now, trying to get all of the maintenance out of the way before I start doing mods.

    • @MotoGearTV
      @MotoGearTV  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes for sure! One of the downsides to direct injection engines is the carbon build up, so a walnut blast is definitely a must around the 70-80k mile range. Rear main seal can be a pain as well because of the transmission removal, but solenoids and the coolant flange aren't too bad. Maintenance before mods is always the right thing to do and I'm sure It'll be a whole different car once you start the upgrades 👍🏾

    Idk if it’s listed or not, but i want to say it before I forget. If you ever replace the belt or need it off for any reason TAKE THE CRANK PULLEY OFF. There’s a guard that you can buy that bolts up under the crank pulley and protects the front main seal. A big issue with these is when a belt breaks, it’ll get behind the crank pulley and push the front main seal through, easily become a $1000+ job.

    In 8 months of ownership (2011 e90 335 xi) I spent above 4500 EUR. Car was 114k miles on the clock. I had to do all engine gaskets (VCG, OFHG, OPG), mass airflow sensor, charge pipe, battery, Xdrive oil servicing, auto transmission servicing, xenon and LED bulbs. Then I sold the car at 120k miles seeing all the issues on this car. 3 months later the new owner sold it as all injectors were leaking and the HPFP was done. A freaking nightmare and money pit :D I'm still traumatized and now driving a 2013 Volvo V40 T4 manual. Next Bimmer will need to have a B58 engine, other than that don't wanna hear about it
