Mark actually wrote this song in honor of his great-grandmother and her 3 sons. The sons all fought in World War 2, two made it back quickly, but the youngest remained until the war was over. I believe he found the letters in the attic and was inspired to write the song, which has won many awards, and the video you're watching was filmed to honor today's troops as well as veterans and those who never made it home. He ever performed the song for President Bush and was very loudly received I believe outside the Pentagon as he began this song.

    Great song.
He's My Son is another great song of his.
My great grandmother had two sons in Europe during WW2. Her youngest, my mom's father was captured in the Battle of the Bulge. The book My cousin wrote about it is Hell Frozen Over by Marilyn Quigley. It's a great book.

Thank you Darnell. I am a fan of all music and can tell you that the Christian music scene is incredible and even though there are tons and tons of reactors out there, almost none of them do reactions of Christian music, with the exception of Christmas or songs covered by popular artists. Keep doing your thing.

Love how the beautiful story turns to the soldiers coming home from Iraq or Afghanistan.

I am so glad you reacted to this as I have only seen one other reaction to it! .... and I apologize....I don't think I realized you have served. I thank you for your service. I work with homeless veteran's and it is an honor to help those who have served our country.
Mark Shultz is a wonderful storyteller and songwriter. This song is from around 2004 or 2005 I believe.
Definitely check out more of his music (He's my son, I am the Way and He was walking her home are great messages and some of my favs)

"Running just to catch myself" is a more lighthearted song and I find it VERY relatable. Mark Shultz is an amazing singer/songwriter

It was unlikely his car, and whoever was driving had to get the car back, and might have had to pee after the drive.
