  • In this video, I explain how I use the Strymon Librarian software for managing presets in the Timeline and Bigsky. I also talk about controlling both of those pedals with a single MultiSwitch!

    Awesome ... absolutely perfect, thanks for the video. I'm not sure if there's other videos about this method of using the Multiswitch or not, but this is the first I've seen ... I'm building three Multiswitches right now (one for each of my big Strymons) ... now, I bet I won't need but one of them. I used to run an RJM Mastermind PBC and spent way too much time maintaining all of my MIDI routing, not to mention the firmware updates - basically it was far more complicated than it needed to be. Simply patching the Strymons with a MIDI cable and using one Multiswitch is brilliant and very simple. Once again, thanks for the video.

    Neat. I only used my multiswitch with the Timeline. I had no clue other Strymons could be synced together like that. I thought it was only doable through an external MIDI controller. And I've had the pedals for years. Learning something new every day.

    Hey! My church is putting together a pedal board and I thought I'd try this method as I'm assembling it. For some reason it doesn't work the way you've shown. The multiswitch is only switching between banms on the Timeline, not the Big Sky, and when I switch presets on the timeline, it throws the Big Sky to a completely different bank. Any suggestions on how yo dix this?

    Hi - I was wondering. Have you ever tried WIDI Master (Wireless MIDI) to connect the Strymon pedals to a PC/Mac to run Nixie?

    Thanks! I'm just getting into midi, multi-switch, etc... so very helpful! I know this video is from 2.5 years ago, but check out the Strymon Nixie if you haven't. I'm having good luck with Nixie to manage patches on Strymon gear.

    Great Video! I'm having an issue however. When I have a sing with multiple presets (I.e a song with 2 reverb patches) and I click the pedal to hit the 2nd reverb patch; the next time I click the switch (or the timeline) the bigsky won't immediately follow (until i click the switch again) then the bigsky follows. It seems when I change something on the bigsky the pedal doesn't know what to do when I advance the multiswitch. I also tried switching to "Bank" mode but when I click the switch only the TimeLine advances, the BigSky won't until i click the "preset A" after selecting the bank. It sounds like my BigSky is malfunctioning.

    would you be able to reverse this so the footswitch is connected to the Bigsky and then connected through midi to the timeline, but then have a second footswitch connected to the timeline which then controls the extra looping abilities of the timeline?

  • @MrTimdcarroll
    @MrTimdcarroll Před 5 lety +1

    One quick question ... If I connect all three of my Strymons (Big Sky, Time Line, Mobius) and perhaps I do not want to have one or two of units "on" for any given song ... would I have a the "mix" turned all the way down on those speicific units that I did not want that effect for the specific song "Name" ... therefore making it "off", in essence? And, it still staying in-sync with the other units? Or, do you have a "craftier" way to handle this? Really awesome, I'm so thrilled to have found your video. Pedal real estate is a premium on boards!

    • @JustinAudio
      @JustinAudio  Před 5 lety

      MrTimdcarroll that’s an interesting question.. you do have the ability to switch on and off each one and it won’t effect the others if you kick the switch on the actual pedals themselves. But in order for them to remain aligned, you need to have a preset for each one. I suppose that if you create a preset on one to essentially just have it work kind of as a placeholder, turning the mix all the way down could work.. I just happen to always be using reverb and delay. There are a few songs that I will have the timeline engaged but the repeats are cut all the way back if that makes sense. Let me know how it works out!

    Can you tell us what happens if you switch a preset on the physical pedal (Blue Sky or Timeline)?? Do the presets sync whether you’re using the switches on the pedals or the multi switch? Thanks!!

    • @JustinAudio
      @JustinAudio  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi! Since in this particular case, the Timeline is controlling the BigSky and the multi switch is controlling the Timeline, switching presets on the Timeline will control the Bigsky but not vice versa.

  • @en.riquecastillo
    @en.riquecastillo Před 5 lety

    What if I don’t have the multi switch? Can I still have the big sky change preset when I change preset/bank on the timeline?

    • @JustinAudio
      @JustinAudio  Před 5 lety

      Yes! The way I have the pedals set now, if I were to select the b switch on the timeline if both are currently at a, the big sky will also switch to b. Technically the multiswitch is controlling the timeline and the timeline is controlling the bigsky. I know that strymon did recently come out with a new multiswitch that can physically be connected to multiple pedals though.

    Just a question, wich are the global settings you use? I did exactly as you show but it seems I can't control the Big Sky, I tried different MIDI channels and settings but I can't run the reverb, any idea? Thanks! (I'm doing it for a friend lol)

      You can actually change the expression pedal mode in the Timeline to either Looper, Bank, or Preset.
