The Sipping Stopwatch™️How long has it been since your last sip?! This futurist device features two ultrasonic depth sensors so the instant you place your cup down the stopwatch begins counting upward. Then as time passes by and you go to reach for your beverage the stopwatch pauses briefly then resets back to zero until next time. No matter the reason you’re counting, it will be there waiting.

What should be my next challenge?!
The next challenge should be a mix and match 2 random unnecessary inventions!
No 3d printing involved
Tour of your studio
The next challenge istsking a viewer into the unnecessary studio and having to build an invention but your hands are tied behind your back. This could also be a sweepstakes or charity.
Make the most necessary invention then the least necessary invention in 48hrs
I think the most impressive part is that you use Fusion 360 without a mouse.
I know, it's insane
SERIOUSLY
Hahahahaha I was admiring it too, I can't even make a circle on fusion 360 without the mouse.
It seems like a great way to get rsi.
If you do it for a while, you forget that you aren’t using the mouse. And also yes it is painful to do.
You should make a remote control that controls remotes.
Basically, it controls TV remotes even when they are far away so you don't have to get up and grab the actual remote yourself.
This is just pure genius 😂 And maybe the remote control to control the other remotes is also too far away so you might need another remote to control the remote controlling remote 🤯
Now that’s just silly.
Someone give this guy an award
@@ulliu.3200 waaay too many loops lol
I put in a different reply that the RAR(Readily Available Remote) stays attached to a pouch at your side so you never lose it.
👏👏
Man, this is impressive! I might be able to make a 3d model of the casing in 24 hours *IF* I do not procrastinate. The idea, scripting, coding, printing, filming and editing? Nope, not at all
yeah it's very cool what he does
3d modeling a casing takes vastly less time than 24 hours. Probably 6 hours max if you know what your doing
You should make an inventing race where two inventers have the same random premise and you have 24 hours (or however long you want to make it) to finish the project before having judges determine the winner. It show how different people react to a new premise and I think it would be really interesting to watch. My pick would be to do one with William Osman.
I hope this guy someday opens a shop where we can buy the products he invents.
there is one
@@adhdsymptoms64 really?
@@dag0d his merch site prolly
Man people really eating this up 😆🤣😂 ❤
You're such a good salesperson, it stops being unnecessary. Now I'm convinced I need a Sipping Stopwatch in my life.
Next time orient the print upside down and save half of the print time by not printing around 17 kilos of support material (and having a nicer finish on the top) :) but still, very funny idea and nice video!
Though exactly the same when I saw the print orientation
also: First printing, then coding.
I think the surface on the build plate always comes out in looking worse that a piece that is finished up top. Plus the section where the cup sits is offset so the top surface of the inner dark blue circles would have had supports on them and wouldn't have looked as clean.
@@UnnecessaryInventions but you put another print (the 2 tone piece) on top anyways…?
Still love the video tho
I love this video's idea because seeing people make things within a small time slot is just so amazing to me
I think the most impressive part is where you have 2 of the housings already made behind you at @3.45 😂
Hahahaha. When you see it. Hahaahhaa.
exposed!
3:46
Really appreciate that you showed your thinking process…. And the steps it takes from dream to reality…. Your awesome I appreciate you as a person your awesome for real!!!
Really inspiring for younger inventors you’ll be the reason for the new renaissance
Maybe you could ask someone on the street in front of your office for an idea or do a mini survey. It would also be cool to see people reaching to your invention, trying to guess what it does or what it's supposed to solve
I'm glad you found a way you can upload videos here in a different format than the whole documentation, but also not just the comercial, now you can have two different kinds of videos on tiktok and CZcams 😊.
Love the work keep it on ❤️
I wish I could thumbs up this video more!
No u
No u
that would be a great unnessary plug in "extra thumb" so you can thumb your favourite creator more
Sounds like something I need t build.
@@UnnecessaryInventions indeed, it does
I liked the vlog aspects of this video. I would definitely watch a daily/weekly vlog of Unnecessary Inventions!
Loved the format of this video.
Unnecessary Invention idea:
A button on your forehead you put on when you go to sleep to be able to tap the button and record a thought in the middle of the night when you wake up with “that amazing idea “ or a spouse could tap it to leave a message if they leave early or to prove you were snoring! playback starts with a tilt sensor when you rise out of bed.
Version 2 could have a taser and remote for spouse for the ultimate anti-snore device.
Version 3 has bright red stop light you swing around to the back of your head for walking in crowds. Motion detects your stopping and flashes person behind you so they look up from their phone and don’t run into you. Then when in the office, coworkers could tap it on the back of your head to leave you a message and not bother you while you are working.
Loved watching this! Your turn around time is inspirational!
You should also add a scale to it so it shows a display of the weight, so you know if someone has taken a drink of your drink, and maybe even add a temp sender to it so you can drink your beverage before it gets too hot.
This is such a great video! I love how you you show all your skills and out it all together to make something so silly! Keep up the great work man!
Biggest mistake, never let your audience know you can make your content in a day. (They will then likely hound you for daily uploads)
crap....
@@UnnecessaryInventions well a more reasonable mistake I can see is not doing the 3d modeling first LOL if you started 3dprinting ASAP it wouldnt have been _aas_ close haha. But honestly who am i to tell you that. I could never do that in 24 hours!
@@pvic6959 it is better to make the mainechanism of the product first before you model the case, otherwise how do you know it will fit? Also a decent modeler can do that model in under 6 hours
I love this video. You should do a 24 hour series on your channel!!!
love my man casually throwing electrical engineering and sensory robotics into a 24 hour challenge hahaha!! what a heavy hitter!!
Very cool. Keeps this fresh for you. I love these longer videos with a view behind the scenes. Wakes up my little engineer in me.
Nice to see your process! Keep up the great videos!
I just adore you.
You make me smile all over.
This was adorable.
This is actually a usable product. Stay hydrated.
Also, if the counting would start when lifting the glass and stop when it's put back on the coaster, you'd just need to show seconds and milliseconds instead of minutes and seconds and the product would sell to fraternities all over...
this is so cool, really impressive, well done!!
You should do this again with a mechanical stopwatch movement! I have a chronograph which you can use, that will tell the time and how long it’s been!
Incredibly creative as always!
This shows how much effort he puts in to make this happen
you should invent a way to eat ice cream while gaming.
a bowl
I want something to catch ice cream that drips, and can be refrozen into popsicles
The Halloween candy one you did was pretty good. That should be made into a company 😂
I just realized, when inventing anything it’s always going to be difficult. You have to either think of a good idea that could help make completing tasks easier or think of a *UNNECESSARY INVENTION* that barely anyone would want to use. Unless you get the ideas from others but there’s also the design process, coding (maybe), gathering materials, building rough drafts, remastering the design, ACTUALLY BUILDING THE FINAL PRODUCT, and then advertising it (maybe). And probably more steps.
The more I watch your videos, the more I'm mesmerized
I’d like to see a behind the scenes on how you film your commercials.
Your edits are ding dang good!
I’ve watched so many of your videos but now I wanna learn to code over this summer
Can you post the code you use for your projects. Bc I would actually like to build some of these. Just really REALLY rusty at programming arduinos
If you end up doing the foosball-truck (or as I like to call it, Foostruck), you should get one of those mini electric trucks from Alibaba. Some guy in Utah buys them to resale in the US.
The first video I've seen in on CZcams without dislikes 🙌
'I'm so smart!'
And humble 😂
Nice vid! Why did you print the body that way around? Wouldn't it have needed less support if you printed it upside down?
The beautiful stop watch that makes people watch how fast they drink. simply marvelous
I just discovered this channel and i am addicted to it now
do you have a place where you post your code/designs/etc? i'd love to make one myself
You should briefly blink the 7 segment display before it resets. It will feel more like a real stopwatch.
Ok I think you should do a similar concept of video but you have to use the standing keyboard and mouse you've made, It sould be very ergonomic to use with fusion 360.
Just found this video and honestly? I might look into making one myself with few modifications like a speaker and adjustable alarm. Mostly because I do forget often to drink my water. Not to mention the times i forget to drink the remaining half of my coffee. xD
Can you just wheel of fortune that list of crazy inventions and finish one 👀
Hey man I love your videos so much!
you are my favorite industrial designer in the world. thanks for doing what you do
🤘🏻🙏🏻
Am I the only one who appreciates all this mans awesome fleeces over the years, stylish and practice, shocking for the king of unnecessary 😂
LL Bean this time around
Love it 👌🏻
this is actually useful
This was great I love this challenge
He uses fusion 360 if anyone was wondering I reconzied it because I use it to plasma cut metal
If you had one with an alarm it could remind you to take a drink every so often, like if you’re trying to increase your fluid intake. But then I guess it wouldn’t be unnecessary anymore…
How do you come up with these ideas? I have a hard time thinking of them. By the way love your CZcams channel
Custom drink creator:
You load different drinks and then you can press the button for a specific drink or have the machine randomly made one and you can save certain drink combinations to buttons
2 hours to code up hardware feels pretty good to me!
😀😀😀😀 U DUDE IS MY FAV!!! THESE INVENTIONS ARE SO CREATIVE AND I LIKE THEM LOL 😛
This is like a game jam but in real life
Your invensions were used as an example in our product design lesson.
An invention that helps me control how much paint I use because I use a lot of paint in one painting
Dude this Vedio alone is a lot more helpful than the mark rober course I got for a lot of money
Those displays are supposed to have a grey filter in front of them. You can get them in sticker form.
Just a simple sticker will make that display a LOT more readable.
Should have had pressure sensor or maybe a switch would hav been much easier
The trunk of an SUV (like a Tesla) can turn into a portable TV setup. Maybe for camping. A projector screen near the hydraulic and a projector on the opposite side near the bottom of the trunk door. If you did had a Tesla to use it on, you could also use the frunk as a home theater system holder where it could hold the stuff for the sources. So unnecessary, it could actually be NESSESARY!!!
I got one:
Problem:
While playing uno you have to constantly find the right card to play by switching between them in your hand,
Make a uno card holder you can hold that displays each card perfectly, sort of like a Swiss knife/Chinese hand fan that opens up and closes perfectly.
You make great videos keep up the good work
This was sick man.
Wouldn’t condensation be a problem with water potentially falling onto the ultrasonic sensor?
Instead of using sonic sensor we could've used 2 load cell sensor which would decrease the height and could show the weight of the drink we have on coaster and the stopwatch as well!
You have to combine several unused unnecessary inventions into one
Would love it to have alarm to kinda remind me at an interval
What if you made another version of the Sipping Stopwatch where after an amount of time, it beeps to keep you hydrated.
I started cracking up when he said “I’m so smart”
Nice idea but using ultrasonic sensors and a possibly damp/wet glass - issues ahead. I would have used a capacitive sensor. Also add an annoying noise that gets louder and LOUDER until you take another sip :)
Include a party mode with inverted timer. It could shows how long you need to chug 1 beer!
Man.. This guy is stupidly genius!!
Showing us all how it's done!
Something to add could be a mini printer added to print the previous times
This was so epic. I would buy this.
You had me a Arduino! Heck ya this is awesome
That was impressive! Looks like you had fun timing yourself to complete that sipping timer! (pun intended) 🤣👏🏻👏🏻
I absolutely need to get started with Arduino stuff... I've been postponing this for too long.
I would never have the patience to wait 16 hrs for it to print. 😂
Hi there, may i ask how you deal with the fumes from your resin printers?
There are resin printers with good filters and if you are done with the print just make sure that your windows are open for fresh air
He actually needs a coaster (I could the the coffee spot of where he sat it on his desk lol)
Your an amazing inventor
You should have made the bottom a rubber like material for more grip
Or when using that you dont need to hold a stopwatch and you can set your waterbottle down on that stopwatch coaster you can see how many laps you can do.
Make something that destroys and rebuilds itself
Where can i buy
I need a invention burrito catch
Can i please ask how do you get these amazing ideas, i want to make something myself, but i just can't find a problem to solve.
Cool invention
I love your inventions
I can't get over how fast you moved up in the beginning
Why didn't you print the case upside down to save a lot of plastic on the supports?
