A little about Fashion and Style Edit

Wonderful advice as always..
Been to France multiple times. The only places french women look chic is in the expensive shopping districts. In the rest of France they are oldfashioned.
I have lived in the South of France for the last 15 years and don't think I have ever seen anyone looking quite as chic as you do in this video Jess. Great outfits.

I think the main reason they look chic though, is because they tend to stay slimmer than most

But you definitely put the finger on the "no effort" and no care for logos... the simple... Your video is great, it absolutely describes the french women who are into fashion... or the parisian girl who works in a cool environnement. But most of the french are not that much into fashion. French brands like sezane are popular here in France also, but most of the women don't afford that kind of money. I live in Bordeaux... and there are not a lot of women here that look like this... And i work at the university as a teacher...
Hummmm unfortunately you will only see slimmer people on tv and social media but in France there are all kind of body shapes. 90% of them share the same tasteful styles despite of their body weight
They walk and bike a lot.

In my early 20's I had a lot of throwaway fashion and it's just such a false economy. They'd look tatty after a few wears?! I agree with their less is more attitude and buying good quality items that last but in the UK we always seem to strive to have lots of different outfits rather than being creative with what we have. I’ll just keep on trying with your suggestions to improve. ❤️
Hi Lainey, you're so right. It's ingrained in French women and passed down through generations. I do think the tide is turning in the UK, more and more high street stores are moving away from fast fashion thankfully. Love the segment on T-shirts with jeans! I’m in my fifties and find that dressing in this kind of “uniform” helps me create new looks with jewelry and other accessories.

Oh I do like this video! I think I will watch it on repeat. I was actually channelling French vibes today with my breton top, ripped jeans, hooped earrings, neck scarf, tan bag and forest green booties. It was so much fun!! I, too, am a Francophile!! I love all things French. The French style is the gold standard in how to put an outfit together. Coco Chanel was such an inspiration. I subscribe to her philosophy of less is more, keeping it simple and taking one thing off before you walk out the door. Thank you for putting this lovely video together.

Really enjoyed this video. As an American expat living in Paris, I’ve embraced many of these style rules and appreciate the classic/natural approach to style. Sézane and Balzac are favorite brands of mine. I also like Sessun, Soeur, MKT Studio, Comptoir des Cotonniers, and Mister K.

Hi Jess. Really enjoyed this vlog. I am happy to say I have my own version of everything you showed. I totally agree with you as regards French style - it is about effortless hair number one - they rarely go for a coiffeured look. I love all the brands you mentioned. I am kicking myself I didn’t snap up a suede trench at the Gerard Darel sale. On the budget side, I really like Pimkie. The couple of tops and shirts are of linen or modal and are amazing quality for the price. Caudelie products are also such a luxury to use and I stock up when in Paris. Thanks so much for this and - lucky you - you have found the perfect red lipstick. I actually tried it on at Dior because of you months ago but it didn’t suit me. xx

Oh, this was just what I needed to see and hear today to validate my fashion sense and choices. The very best tip you gave in my humble opinion is to be confident, which is supported by following your own style with what works for your body, not trying too hard - go more natural makeup wise, really taking care of your skin, and that wrinkles and imperfections are (and should be) celebrated. This is all so very inspiring. Thank you. :)

Lovely tips! I've always felt like this style reflects the type of personality that is more interested in what she's doing rather that what's she's wearing. Something like, "I'll buy the best coat I can find so I won't be bothered with it for a while because I'd rather spend my brain space on what I'm involved in"

Great tips - my favourite is to not be a trend hound; too much waste is created and too hard on the planet. Also liked the nod to avoid dripping in labels. Loved all your outfits - thanks for the inspo. I love visiting France and we were due to visit this year again but, sadly, that's not going to happen. Have a super week!
