    I went at this last night. 2004 C230 coupe. I managed to do this all while the mechanism was still in the door. I did not drill any rivets/airbags or cut a huge hole in the door like some other guy on YT. Used the speaker hole to work. It was difficult, but I managed. Took me about 3hrs. The mechanism has a black plastic cover held on with 1 screw and a number of clips around the edges. Putting the spring in was challenging, but I didn't invent any new swear words. Thanks to OP for telling me to drill out the hole because the new spring metal is larger diameter than the old. Thanks for the video.

    Thank You for being so "detailed" in your video! Other videos don"t explain the problem or the details like you do!The smallest of information can make a difference!

    Excellent DIY guide video. Still helping people many years later.
    Thank you for acknowledging how its a tricky job, certain Mercedes videos suggest everything is super easy and make no comment on how to overcome the challenges to be faced.

    Thank you so much! Your guide was super useful for fixing my drivers lock. I wasn't sure for the spring's position as it was broken but you saved the day. Greetings from Greece!

    For everyone who replace the spring and want to test the lock before re installing the door trim !!! it's crazy but the door trim or specifically, that little plastic piece near where the door clips into the hinge has to be on for the lock to work.
    So anyone who takes off their door trim, your lock WILL NOT WORK, it will unlock but not lock but do not replace the actuator.
    The reason is there is a button on the car which detects when the door is closed and that button will not be pushed sufficiently if that plastic piece on the door trim isn't there.

    Do you think would be possible to insert the spring without taking all the lock mechanism out from the door, operating through the speaker hole?

    Super instructional video! Is your car Keyless-go? If not, do you know if this the same operation and actuator A2117200935 for keyless-go cars? Mine isn't bouncing, but doesn't latch. I also understand the gear/cam can become damaged, so in my mind it would be wise to pick up the repair kit that contains these items as well.

    Excellent video and helpful. Do you think the spring could be replaced while the actuator is loosely hanging in the door? If so I may not be necessary to drill out the rivets.

    Hi. Any recomendations for a W204 rear door? Looks like a similar actuator with W203 in the video. My right rear door is stuck closed and wont open from outside or inside. I assume the motor itself inside the actuator gone. I ve managed to remove the inner lining and then door card without destroying it. My question is: how do I open the locked door? I can see that the lock itself is on the hinge locking it.

    • @MagmaMorph
      @MagmaMorph Před 5 lety

      If you cant reach the mechanism to manually unhook at the actuator itself then the lock actuator must be broken for you to reach it. The good thing is that all these locks are plastic.
