I did this exact repair on the same model car, and again in a few months, the spring was not broken on either occasion, but a simple repair has lasted longer than anything, which is to wrap a couple of turns of insulating tape around the locking knob, the extra resistance means it works just fine.

I miss the 'spring' also....😀. Thank you for the video. What a nightmare to get the door lock assembly out...

Loved the title machine gun effect door locks. As a mechanic one of my pet hates is removing door cards and faffing about inside of doors that was a quality repair that you carried out and certainly worth knowing thank you.

I confess I don't like to remove door cards either...
You always scared that you are going to break the plastic clips etc... which often it happens... lol

Good stuff, my favorite Sunday morning watch :)
If you're a BMW owner with alarm/lock issues, Lloyds BMW ebay store selling new lock mechanism for only £39 at the moment, substancial saving. I've fitted a few to solve the alarm going off randomly issue. ISTA fault code typically references drivers door, have seen passenger lock fail once but usually drivers side only.

The spring offers no resistance so the door module doesn't know if it is locked or not. Hence the lock bouncing.

What a nuisance having to deal with rivets to dissemble the door. Good thing you had them to hand Luis.

Either way for the ESP, you will need a scan... otherwise will be most likely pure guess work...
And that, can become very expensive, very quickly...😊

Thanks for the vid helped as other vids are way to dark to see and don't point out easy like you did on the spring. It is very silly you have to drill out the rivet to get it out what a silly design Choice to make on Mercedes part. I got away with the only the 2 rivets holding the runner and pulling on it to just make room for it to slip out and back in as don't have a rivet gun to put it back so will need to get 1 to make sure it not brake it over time being lose as don't want to do it to the airbag rivet's.

Hi, I only recently found your channel. Is there also a way to repair a right rear lock on the more recent W204 2008 door lock? So far I haven't found any information but to replace the complete lock. Which does require a lot of work. ( on the inside the door has a riveted panel that one has to remove )

that should never happen, there is no reason to use poor quality spring steel for such a tiny item in view of all the work involved to replace it .. that's a black mark for Mercedes. well done, I suppose no one else wanted to do that, what a faffing job.
