  • Does the idea of riding the SF V4 put you off? Too aggressive? Well this might be the bike for you, today im comparing the V2 to V4 and seeing which one I would pick for the streets of the UK.

    Just picked up mine today and love it. What makes me laugh is everyone asks "did you get the V4" and I reply "no i only got the V2" only???? The V2 may be Ducatis entry streetfighter but its a premium bike that is a step up above other manufacturers "premium" bikes. Its so much fun and looks amazing you wont regret it, it has character. And with Rizoma and Evotech gear it looks amazing...love it

    I'd go V2. Useable performance, as you say without loosing your license. Two up, don't know. I have VTR1000F v-twin and my other half has a Gen1 SV650S. If I'm off on a solo ride, I likely pick her SV - it reminds me if my youth of RD350 and YPVS!. Two up though, and I want the extra BHP and better suspension (upgraded front) of my Firestorm! mmm, we all need more bikes?

    • @DSR1YT
      @DSR1YT  Před 5 měsíci

      Nothing wrong with picking the smaller cc bike, too many people lately are hung up on big numbers and big BHP. Enjoyment and comfort are the main things that concern me :P. And yes, we always need more bikes at all times.

    I have an 18 S1000R, and test rode the V2 then V4 Streetfighters back to back. Much preferred to V4, was more refined and not as rough when riding slowly. V2 was great, V4 was just better (for me). The heat on both was an issue. I did not find the v4 too powerful, but comfortable with my BMW and not really a massive increase in a practical sense.

    I had a MT10 SP and decided to go to the MT09 SP and have to say way more fun on the majority of roads i ride on. So i would no doubt go V2 these dray's, but you don't see no where as many V2's on the road as you do V4's.

    V2 is definitely more engaging and fun without going stupidly fast, but the v4 has a better fuel tank shape for squeezing with the knees, more flexible engine, albeit its too fast, too good, too capable. V2 has a torque dip until 6k rpm or so, is pretty rough at lower revs, and generally doesnt have all that much going on until around 8 or so, a decat and a tune probably fixes that. The price of the v2 is just kind of ridiculous considering what street triple rs ans 890 duke r offer for a lot less money, and that you can get an mt10, or s1000r, or tuono, or maybe even a superduke for the same price.

    • @DSR1YT
      @DSR1YT  Před 5 měsíci

      Let’s face it. There’s a certain type of person who buys Ducati’s. And I don’t think they are worried about the price versus other bikes 😆. Sometimes in my old age I need something more usable than balls to the walls style riding. 🤦🏻😁

    • @volodymyrshoniia2424
      @volodymyrshoniia2424 Před 5 měsíci +3

      @@DSR1YT the trouble is that the cheaper upper middleweight competition from triumph and KTM is actually faster around some tracks, has more power and torque available outside of the very high rpms where the v2 takes over since others don't even rev that high, weighs less, is more fun according to many (especially the 890 duke R), comes with higher grade components when it comes to suspension and brakes as well as more tech (like cruise control and fuel gauge 😂). It only makes sense for styling, the way Ducati dials in the chassis and overall package, and having that high revving sporty V2 since nobody else has anything like that.
      I'd take a V2 as a fun bike, v4 is nearly pointless outside of track, and the fuel range sucks on the road, but then a faired bike would make more sense on track.

      @allangrse617 Před 5 měsíci

      The thing is, the sfv2 doesnt compete with the triple rs, ktm 890r, z900 or mt09 sp, thats the monster, or monster sp. The sfv2 is somwere between the mt10 and the speed triple. Well torque dip, or not, it still has more torque in that area than the mt07 max torque. Ill bet the sfv2 will be faster than the Aprilia tuono on some tracks, so I cant really se where you are going with that statement 🤷🏻‍♂️
