I miss all of Freddie's piano in the Wembley concert too. After the '81 Montreal concerts they hired a "backup" keyboard player for tours because Freddie wanted to be free to interact with the crowd at will & didn't want to be tied to the piano. The 1st one lasted 1 tour, the 2nd was Spike Edney (he also played some rhythm guitar & backup vocals) and is still with Queen today & has played on Roger's & Brian's solo stuff too.
I love hearing you say "this is now my favourite Queen song". I do that all the time. Roger and Brian said Freddie had a certain feel for the piano, he had a metronome in his head. He had perfect rhythm. In the early concerts he talked to the fans more and played piano more. He also used to throw flowers to the crowd during the encore. I miss Freddie's piano playing a lot in the later concerts. I think he thought it was boring to watch someone sitting at a piano. Elton John wore all the outrageous clothes and glasses for the same reason. Freddie wouldn't have become a famous frontman if he sat at the piano so I guess he was right. Can't wait for the next part!
Grinning this end …. Very normal experience…. “This is my favourite” … then “no actually this is “ …. Then …. and so it goes on. I have so many favourites depending on mood, season, weather, hormones 😂…. Who knows …. I just love Queen 👑 ❤️👑❤️👑 Thanks for reacting to this 👏👏👏

Flick of the Wrist is the second song I ever heard from Queen , it was the B side of Killer Queen .I was snooping in my older brothers room in 1974 , I found the Queen 45 rpm on his dresser , took it to my room for a listen 😁I listened to Killer Queen & Flick of the Wrist at least a hundred times , that was the beginning of me fighting TOOTH AND NAIL FOR QUEEN ! You have absolutely no idea what a Queen fan in my school went through , because everyone else was Led Zeppelin Jethro Tull Stones and Who , I WAS THE ONLY QUEEN FAN 😁
Freddies first diss song! Freddie said our manager thinks it's about him but it isn't. it clearly was ! when they left him Freddie followed it up with death on two legs
Me hearing Roger Taylor do that high cry.. " OMG Roger.. WTF!?!!!!! " Husband from the other room.. "What?" Me - "NOTHING.." LMAO. Just WOW. I can't image they ever played anything that sounded bad. How are you that tight every damn time? Another thing someone said the other day - and it's SO true.. How did 4 guys with this level of talent manage to meet each other at the same time - to create this band. I mean, what the hell are the odds?
Roger belts out those high notes on Lap of the Gods so effortlessly it is sick. I love the medley and of course I love Flick of the Wrist. Thank you for this segment.
Nice reaction! I was hoping you would do the whole medley in one, otherwise the songs alone are slightly short, the medley is shortened versions of the songs. I think some people did request Flick Of The Wrist when you listened to Death On Two Legs. Flick Of The Wrist was the first song Freddie wrote against their management and the music industry, Flick Of The Wrist refers to signing a contract. On Queen's Sheer Heart Attack Flick Of The Wrist flows into two other songs. It is great to listen to these 3 songs together, Tenement Funster/ Flick Of The Wrist/ Lily Of The Valley. Yes, it is nice to have Freddie's piano playing, he was a far better pianist then he gave himself credit for.
So glad you're doing this concert Rory, I love early Queen, and love seeing new reactions to them, look forward to part 4 or 3 whatever, great reaction by the way, looks like you may be hooked like the rest of us x
Flick of the wrist is awesome. Its part of a medley with Tenement Funster and lily of the valley. Precursor to first song on Night st opera. A bit h song to his record label
'Cross-collatorize' - Just discovered I like that word like Freddie told the interviewer he liked the word 'Beelzebub', that's why he used it in Bohemian Rhapsody. Oops, you're gone.
Flick of the Wrist is class, I always played 'Lily od the Valley' with it as it melded so well into it on the studio album. You should react to the 'Sheer Heart Attack' album, if you're getting into May and are into this era of the group, you'll be impressed with it. The heavy metal starts to fade in the next few albums as the band change with the times and more songs from Taylor/Deacon emerge. They hit an all time low with Hot Space, I couldn't believe it, suddenly you had to be a closet Queen fan. Live Aid changed all that, in the intervening months after the concert millions of people started buying up all their back catalogue and gave them the confidence to go on and do it all over again on the world stage. Live Aid was that kind of concert and Freddie was used to stadium crowds, pretty sure they held the record at the time for largest crowd, Rio I believe. Take another band on the same day like Duran Duran, riding on a wave of pop hits, the singer hit's a woeful bum note, shakes all the confidence he has and the poor guy just blows it for them. They spiraled into nothing after that, the whole world was watching. So I can't stress how important Live Aid was. You should look up the crack behind the scenes of Zep's set, drummer Phil Collins played at Wembley, hopped on a concord across the pond to replace John "Bonzo" Bonham. The boys were out of it, unrehearsed, and it showed. Loved sticking that to all my Zep mates who slagged the f**k out of Queen. ;)
Hi Rory You don’t yet realize you’re slipping into the “ rabbit hole” 😂🥰 Queen becomes an addiction … there’s no 10 Step Program that will help and the worst/ best part is you won’t want out 🔥❤️ Thanks for your great reactions!! Can’t wait for the next one. ( and would you believe Freddie thought he was a mediocre piano player )
I think you reacted to Flick of the Wrist before but I think it was a medley version so not the whole song. I know we talked about it being the "other Queen dis track" written by Brian, the first being Death On Two Legs written by Freddie which I am absolutely positive you reacted to on your old channel...which you also loved...lol. Both of these dis songs show Freddie's unmatched talent (IMHO) for his ability to change the timbre of his voice to match the emotional expression of the song. Great reaction, as usual, thanks! Correction: Freddie wrote both tracks.

As Taylor Hawkins said in an interview (RIP) Queen kicked Led Zeps ass, kicked the Who's ass, kicked everybody's ass at Live Aid.
This might be about the Sheffield brothers too ...a forerunner to death on 2 legs
