Glad you recognized John Deacon bass playing...very rare does he get the recognition that he deserves....one of my favs is DEATH ON TWO LEGS...Freddie's dis of former manager
It's THE BAND!!! Each and every one of then Greatest w/their Talent! Fantastic! Thank you . . .This time watching, so impressed with Deaky and Roger taking them OUT - together with resounding perfection giving us their ending..
One of my favorite songs from the first Queen studio album written by Freddie, my top favorite from this album is My Fairy King with beautiful lyric. White Queen live at Hammersmith London 75 is realy great, thank you for this
Loved your reaction, thanks! Yes, Freddie was into musicals. One of his close friends, Peter Straker, performed in a lot of musicals and Freddie would go watch him perform. Queen didn't just put on concerts, they always tried to put on a complete show for the audience encompassing everything you would expect from a theatrical show. Even Freddie's stage persona is a character that Freddie developed specifically for performing. It's completely opposite of Freddie's off-stage personality. The theatrical aspect was IMO the difference between Smile and Queen and was driven by Freddie. It's why why Live Aid was such a big deal to them and gave them such a boost of confidence. They were criticized by some for making their concerts such big productions and were accused of needing the extravagance to be successful. Live Aid gave them the opportunity to show everyone (including themselves) how good they were without all the fancy lights, pyro, and costumes, etc. It proved to them and the world that they were successful because they were fantastic musicians who individually were good but when combined as a group were able to rise to such an elite level that they were essentially unmatched.
Yes your are right, a great team. I'me so glad you noticed John, listen to Dragon attack live again, you can take the mesure of his talent. He is really underrated
Great reaction! Queen did not have a weak link….every member of the band were amazing musicians, each playing more than one instrument, each writing hit songs I have heard them say that while they each may be talented in their own right, they did not split up because they all recognized they were better together than any one of them would ever be. Thanks for your Queen reactions……..love them.
I came late to Queen and worked my way back to their early days...riveting to me. Even more appreciation of how they morphed into the sound everyone recognizes. Theatrically, Freddie guides and shares focus - both visually (production elements) & musically...what a stage director does with actors in a play. Brilliant.
LIAR 🤥 One of my favorite live performances by Queen! Freddie wrote this and it could be about the fight he had with another boy at Boarding School. When he tried to tell the Headmaster his side of the story the Headmaster didn’t believe him and cut off Farrokh (Freddie) hair as a form of punishment. ☹️ Awwwww Anyway, I think the spotlight is on John Deacon here!! John stated that he practiced this song before he auditioned for Queen 👑
Great reaction. I love 70s Queen the best. The first two albums were heavier rock. Freddie learned to sing from listening to Liza Minelli in Cabaret and Jimi Hendrix. His voice is really great in this concert. Liar allows every band member to showcase their talent. John even gets to sing. You have to listen to the whole concert. It's all awesome.
There are two Queen songs who's lyrics are extremely relevant for what's going on in the world right now. "Is This The World We Created" and "The Miracle".
My favourite era - you have to do more 70s Queen! White Queen (live at the Hammersmith Odeon 1975), March of the Black Queen, Brighton Rock, Lap of the Gods (live at the Rainbow 1974 - not the Revisited), just to be going on with 😃
Not taking away Brians ability with guitar playing. But Freddie composed the guitar parts on this. He would map out where and how he should play usually composing on piano as he couldn't read or write music It was later on Brian composed solos on Freddies songs but within the map Freddie gave him but the rest of the guitar was composed by Freddie Brian said he forced him to play in a way he wouldn't think of playing even on the solo because of how Freddie had composed the song Edit Obviously they have to be good musicians . But a lot of people think on each others songs they all composed for their own instruments. The writer of the song composed the music
Great reaction, Rory. Yes, Queen were always interested in telling a story in their music. Brian May said in interviews that he always wanted his solos to be an extension of what was sung vocally. He never sacrificed melody just to show off his awesome ability.
This is my favorite Queen song. But all 70s Queen is great. But in order to stay relevant and rock for another decade they had to evolve. They never wanted to repeat themselves and changed with the times. In looks and sounds.
I saw Queen a few times in 73/74. They were really heavy and rocky. I think because they also did ballads and other complex songs, people kind of forgot the heavy side. Also, other heavy bands usually dressed in old jeans and t-shirts - very scruffy. They also tended to stand fairly motionless. Queen were also very theatrical and initially got lumped in with Glam Rock bands like Sweet and T-Rex. Actually I saw T-Rex when they were still called Tyrannosaurus Rex and they were without a doubt the worst band I ever saw!
Great reaction to Queen singing live, THE best band live without a doubt and there are plenty of tracks to catch up on, but you should listen to the original studio album tracks as well, as Queen add loads of harmonies and little pieces of instrumentation you just can't get when live. I think you haven't heard any tracks sung by Roger or Brian yet which again is another side to Queen, great voices. Tracks such as Drowse, I'm in Love with my car, Tenement funster, (Rogers) Long Away, 39, All dead, (Brians) to name a few. Some tracks lead straight onto the next and get short such as Father to son leads into the White Queen, The Prophet song leads into Love of my life which has a lovely intro. Anyway enjoy your Queen experience.
Seems every single time im on youtube, I find someone else discovering Queen, especially digging into the album stuf rather than the well known singles Dunno if youve viewed " Father to Son " From Queen II, the whole album is fuckin marvellous? The first track I ever heard of theirs. 1974 , Been a fan ever since. It some rabbit hole your going down here , czcams.com/video/Y1fiOJDXA-E/video.html Enjoy
Hi Rory...just to say that John’s bass playing is amazing in this...think about the fact that he is only 23 years old at the time...and yes Freddie had a very strong sense of theatrics and drama...he had a real flair for all that ...also he danced with the Royal Ballet..was a model with Jane Seymour in Fashion Aid...both on CZcams..you just have to love Freddie..Dave Clark who produced the musical “Time” wanted Freddie to star in it..Freddie wrote a song for it...but I think that being in a musical, day after day would have been too pedestrian for him...also there is a short CZcams video of “Rock and Roll Medley 1975 BBC...Freddie in a kimono...when he starts to open it the camera pans swiftly away...they’re not too sure what Freddie has on underneath🤣
Glad they went with Queen but If Freddie chose Rhapsody as a band name and they went for it I think would have been summed their albums perfectly Complete mix of genres and styles that are different but fit!
Yes it is like a theatrical performances.
Queen are in a league of their own.🎶👑❣️
Glad you recognized John Deacon bass playing...very rare does he get the recognition that he deserves....one of my favs is DEATH ON TWO LEGS...Freddie's dis of former manager
This is my favourite Deacon moment of being at the top of the best and most creative bass players
It's THE BAND!!! Each and every one of then Greatest w/their Talent! Fantastic! Thank you . . .This time watching, so impressed with Deaky and Roger taking them OUT - together with resounding perfection giving us their ending..

Live at the rainbow and Hammersmith were great performances

Love this performance. Deaky slappin the bass was ridiculous
I love the energy of this song. The band is outstanding in this performance...and all this from just four men!! Thank you.
I love that you acknowledged John on bass. Brian is always awesome as is the rest of the band. Great reaction, Rory.

Modern Times Rock and Roll
from the early shows is always Great 👍
So damn good.
They had “IT” from the start.
The early shows have awesome version s of 'Ogre Battle ' that are a must hear !
Hendrix, Aretha Franklin, opera was some of Freddie's influences
I came late to Queen and worked my way back to their early days...riveting to me. Even more appreciation of how they morphed into the sound everyone recognizes. Each member of queen were soo gifted. Together as a band a creative explosion happens.

The switch ups are intense! There creativity is unmatched!

Great song ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Queen have been my Religion since 1974 🙂
Yes! mine too since 1974 ever since I saw "7 Seas of Rhye", I've always said that Queen is my religion and Freddie is the God of that religion.
This is my favorite 💕 right on good choice 🥰🌟💫👑🌹💗💗👀🕊️✌️
It really was an experience seeing queen live!!!
Great reaction love Queen but seventies Queen just has the edge this concert is brilliant x
This is my favorite Queen song. But all 70s Queen is great. But in order to stay relevant and rock for another decade they had to evolve. They never wanted to repeat themselves and changed with the times. In looks and sounds.
It's amazing, the depth of sound that came from a 3 piece band (Freddie wasn't playing, just singing). I think their first 5 albums were their best.
Was john not there?
@@bluebell3720 , no, I meant drums, guitar and bass, such a big sound for 3 instruments.
I loooveeee early Queen
You should listen to Brighton Rock. I think Brain is doing something there
Musical theater influence, Freddie loved Liza Minnelli.

There timing is perfect
I know what you mean about the musical theory like the who with pinball wizard 🤔

Please check out "White Queen" !!!!!!
talking of Liars , look who's in Number 10 at the moment , everything he does is sin !
Glad they went with Queen but If Freddie chose Rhapsody as a band name and they went for it
