I’ll leave the singing to David and Shirley, but I’ve got a bunch of stories to tell you about the Partridge family ranging from the strange to the steamy. Although a squeaky clean show, behind the scenes, there were some shocking issues. There is a dark side to fame and fortune that always seems to poke its head out when the stakes are high and the music is rockin’.

You have young pictures from the 70’s or before of the rest of the cast in the thumbnail except for David. That picture of him is like from 2017 looking like he’s crying. He doesn’t deserve that. That’s messed up. Please change it. ☹️

I wasn't born yet but developed a crush on David Cassidy in the 1990s through reruns. I now have the series on DVD. The opening theme song (post 1970-71; 1971-1974 were sung by Cassidy) I love so much!

I was obsessed with David Cassidy like most girls my age back in the early 70's. I attended 6 of his concerts and my mother actually arranged for me to receive his autograph on my 13th Birthday, while watching him perform at the Spectrum in Philadelphia.
After college. I moved to LA in 1980, and would see an old Partridge Family bus, that looked like it was way past its prime near an off ramp on one of the freeways. Everytime I saw that thing, I was 13 all over again!
In LA, I was an elementary school teacher, and as it turns out, one if my first graders casually mentioned that his parents bought their house from David Cassidy!!! I told my little student how I adored David when I was a kid. He in turn told his mom, who promptly invited me over for a tour of the house, given by my little first grade student!
Then back in the mid 90's I stood in line to get David's autograph when he was promoting his autobiography.
Poor David brought so much happiness to so many. I hope he knew how much he was loved!

The Partridge Family rated very well back here in Australia. David Cassidy was so freakin popular with the girls that he travelled the huge distances to perform some concerts at my city’s famous sports arena, the MCG back in 1974. He even managed to fill it back then with about 100,000 screaming crazy teenagers. I know this cause I was one of them. Groovy times folks.👍🇦🇺😁☮️

I recorded almost the whole series🤣😄 I'm 62 and a big David Cassidy fan. I got to see his show in Las Vegas in 1998 "EFX " I dragged my husband to see the show. It was my early 40th birthday present. It was amazing. David was a great artist and truly didn't realise how much we all appreciated his talent. RIP David. We miss you😢
I loved the Partridge Family. David Cassidy was so cute and dreamy. I'm sure I had a centerfold of him from a Tiger Beat, or another one of those teen magazines, up on my wall for quite a while.

Great early show from the seventies, the seventies was my favourite decade. I grew up the seventies, and enjoyed shows like this, best music, fashion ect.and everything wasn't so political correct.

The Brady Bunch and the Partridge family are 2 different shows one of a kind with no comparison just like the Adams family and the Munsters .
But they were both clean-cut and cheesy family sitcoms from the early 1970s that centered on a specific family and featuring music numbers (The Partridge Family moreso due to them also being a band).

The prankster Danny Bonaduce and the attractive Susan Dey. I was 11 years old when the Partridge family came out and just like any preteen and teen male back then, had a crush on Susan Dey.
You must be the same age as me. I'm sure as a kid that you wish that Danny was one of the kids in the neighborhood, I know that I did. LOL!

I remember that David Cassidy posters was a must in every teenage girl bedroom and girls love to have them, i was very small at that time but when i got bigger i saw the show and loved it, the cast had a lot of charisma, especially David.
I think Alice did most of the cooking on that show. Mrs. Brady didn't seem to do much but arrange flowers and walk around.
Mrs. Brady was a lazy housewife.

Danny Bonaduce had a traumatic home life - his father hated him & mistreated him badly - Dave Madden became a 'father-figure' even Shirley Jones would sometimes take him home to her house - don't make out he was being a brat on purpose - they all knew Danny was being mistreated at home & did their best to help.
Danny did an interview one time and said that Jeremy Gelbwaks(first Chris) was the real pain and everyone was quite relieved when he and his family moved East and thecrolecwasxrecast with Brian Forster.

Susan dey is from my home town Mount kisco. she went to fox lane high school in bedford hills, NY and dated my uncle frank before she got the role for Laurie Partridge.

Another beautiful colour film TV show that was on real film. I used to make the ad breaks in the film of each episode back in the early 1970s for an Australian TV station. Great memories.

David was & still is my fave. This was the reason I watched the PF if David ws not on the PF I would not have watched the PF. David was gorgeous. He was my 1st love. I especially loved him on the PF. David was so talented & should be on stars on the walk of fame.
Sadly the old original Chevy psycadelic bus that featured so much in this series, does not exist anymore. It was sold and sold again after the show ended and finally it lived out its very final days a a total wreck in a parking lot behind an old taco restaurant in downtown Los Angeles, where it was finally removed to a junk yard and crushed. Your next can of coke just might be a recycled small piece of The Partridge Family’s Bus.( Careful Nervous Mother Driving)👍🇦🇺😁☮️

I was 10 years old when the show started, and I was obsessed with TPF. I had every record, and many many pics of the cast in my bedroom. My favorite memorabilia was a piece of furniture called The Partridge Family Record Cabinet. It was absolutely awesome. Like a credenza with TPF logo on the front.
I had the whole set of Partridge Family Bubblegum Cards.
If You flipped them over and arranged them in a certain way, They made a mini poster of different Partridge Family Members.
Gosh, I wish I still had those.☹💔

I didn't have any merchandise except their albums. But I DID have a huge crush on Danny.
I got into all kinds of trouble because, when I got married and moved out of the house, my grandparents (who raised me), discovered that the hundreds of pictures of him I had on the wall at the head of my bed (think giant collage), had been glued directly to the knotty pine paneling. It took my grandpa forever to soak it all off.
I was one of the young teenagers that had a big crush on David Cassidy!

Damn Susan Dey was extremely beautiful. She's right up there with Olivia Hussey, Lynda Carter, and Felice Schacter in looks. I definitely would've dated all 4 of those women back then lol. Susan just had that unique, different, pretty face.
Pretty interesting to hear that Shirley Jones was considered for the role of Carol Brady in The Brady Bunch, but at least she was lucky to be the mother of that other corny (in a good way) clean-cut sitcom family in the early 1970s.
"AussieMan" A lot of what this video "reveals" is not really "shocking" and "unbelievable" because these were well known facts; that Susan Dey actually had a severe crush on her co-star David Cassidy, and that Danny was a problem child star on the set, and that David Cassidy got paid very little but others made money off of him etc. Of course some people may not have read the gossip or teen magazines of that time or may not have read the book that Cassidy wrote himself etc. But this video does not reveal anything that has not already been revealed

I don’t care of the stories are clean or steamy or one I will still always love the Partridge family and everybody in the Persians family nothing surprise me nowadays anyway so I love a matter white now
one of the biggest lies i was led to believe as a child was not Santa Claus, The Easter Bunny or the Tooth Fairy. it was believing that all of the Partridges actually sang on their records. every time i listened to their records (and i had all of them), i truly believed i was listening to them. it broke my heart when i found out the truth and threw out all of their records. i got over that and became a fan once more. i once again have all their cds and the entire series on DVD. the first four albums are pure pop perfection.
David sang lead on the PF records, with backing by Shirley and members of LA's legendary "Wrecking Crew ".
I watched the show to drool over Susan Dey. Susan Dey & Jennifer Connelly are ridiculously beautiful.

Think I left lip marks on the tv screen, and electric shocks from trying to kiss Cassidy! I know my posters lips were faded! He was my everything! Strange how quickly I fell in love with Led Zeppelin in 1974. That relationship is still ongoing…as it is with most fans. Will never forget either as they were life changing events! I remember the show made little sense, the music was supposed to been written by Keith but sounded old fashion like someone like shirley would have written, they suppose to be very popular but never played to more than a small handful in some lounge or night club, places that probably would even allow some as young as Chris or Tracy even in. also they wouldnt have done much touring if they went only in that fuel guzzle old school bus. but even so I did love watching it.

It’s about the Partridge Family and what he looked like while he was in the Partridge Family like the rest of the cast in the picture. Shirley’s picture is from the 50’s or 60’s. I remember reading that Danny knew his lines so well and everyone else’s. 1 thing I didn’t know was that they lived in the Kravitz house. I knew the location was on the Universal lot. The same lot to Bewitched and I dream of Jeannie and all the others but I didn’t know that their house was across the street from bewitched and it makes sense now that I think about it. Dave Madden was my favorite, him and Danny. Also around that same time he was on an Episode of Happy Days as the game show host of Big Money.

Friday nights it was the Brady Bunch and then the Partridge family. I had a huge crush on David and he was my favorite cast member. I heard that when he arrived on the set for the first day of filming he saw his step mother Shirley and said "Whadda doing here and she says I'm playing the mother'. I was quite young back then about 10 years old.
I think Rob Reiner filmed the "Snake" episode before All in the Family. Or before all in the family caught on like wildfire anyway.
Richard pryor also guest starred on the Partridge family.
Seriously, if you think about it, "Let It Be" and "I Think I Love You" were targeted at different audiences. Not saying that someone couldn't be a member of both audiences.

I watched every friday night on abc especially back in 72 brady bunch and the partridge family
I bought the dvd series because I learned that if I mute their performances and then play other songs (Jimi Hendrix, the Tubes, Megadeth, etc.) It is really funny.
David's $600 a week in 1970, would be $4,067 a week if it was now(2021). That would be about $212,000 a year in today's pay. In 1970, the average American made $7,500 a year, while David made $31,000 a year. He wasn't crying himself to sleep behind a dumpster at night. Sure, big stars today make much, much more(relatively speaking), but he was still making good money and everybody back then(actors, musicians, sports stars, etc) made much less than they do today.
and remember 20% for his manager and at least 10% for his publicist
It's sad he ended up broke(for what he achieved) compared to other entertainers he should have made much more than that off the merchandises such as dolls, lunchboxes, and on anything else that bears his name he would demand up to $50,000 per show for the concerts he performed he should have been set for life
