  • The Access Security Safe is a TL5524C-RH, Serial # 6307. Access's customer support told me the weight is 2720 lbs +/- 10% plus any shelving but their literature says it is 3190 lbs. The outer dimensions are 62" x 31" x 30.75" deep and the interior dimensions are 55" x 24" x 20.5". It has a La Gard combination lock.
The Tann is not 100% identified due to the various layers of paint and no ID tag. It is the same physical size as the Access Security but much smaller capacity. The exterior dimensions are 61" (including 3" plinth) x 30 1/4" x 31" deep and the interior dimensions are 47 1/4" x 19 1/2" x about 16" deep. It is hard to figure out the interior depth and my measurement doesn't quite match any of the factory literature. This safe is substantially heavier than the TL-30 so it is probably a TRTL-30X6 Plus. It is definitely not their lightweight version. This safe has Dual Custody Kromer DBP combination locks.
Lastly, there is a little cash register lock box with a Group 2 Sargent Greenleaf R6700 combination lock.

Out of curiosity, how much would these safes cost? And where would you find a used safe? Also, it's pretty easy to decode the combination for that lockbox at 3:00 by taking the back off the lock, and spinning the dial so that the gates line up under the fence. You can also align the gates on another part of the lock where they're easier to see, then align the third wheel with the fence (because it's easier to see), and add that offset to the first two numbers. You can then get an S&G change key and change the combination.

Thanks for the tips. I am having a locksmith set up the Kromer in the future and I'm hoping he can teach me how to change it.
I found the Access Security safe on Kijiji (similar to Craigslist) at a pawn shop that was moving. You can also find them at metal recyclers. The cost was $2500 Canadian and they said that I could have the Tann for free after I arrived. Transportation costs were about $1600 and was a total fiasco that took two attempts using a forklift, telehandler, a tow truck, and a flatbed trailer.

@@SteveRivett 😁 I bought an antique safe that’s about the size of a dishwasher,it weighs two thousand pounds. It’s a JAnd J Taylor that once belonged to the Alberta liquor control board. It’s got an inner safe that’s even more secure than the outer door. I tried using a forklift to get it up my steep driveway,no go. Used a crane truck from my buddys truss company the next day to get it up to my garage.

@@Whateva67 I had a locksmith over to change the codes on the safes a couple weeks ago and it turns out that the TANN was capable of having 4 numbers to open it instead of the standard 3, the previous owner must have elected to leave the 4th position blank. Turns out you can set up the safes so they only need 1 # to open if you want.

Just found a used Tann Fortress safe for sale that has two dials on the outer door. They didn’t have a price on it yet but I’m guessing it won’t be cheap as it’s an equivalent to a TRTL 30

Good afternoon! Were you ever able to identify the TANN? I have the exact same model with identical dimensions (which do not match any literature that I have managed to locate) and I am dying to identify!
    Thanks !

I'm planning on buying a TL30x6 safe for my house. I'd be using it for my collection of (could not think of a joke) firearms and bullion. Should i buy used?

Tann safes were a British company but they did partner with a Swedish company. Gets a bit confusing where they were made later on - after 1990 I think.
