Just me, Old man Merlin reminiscing about the good old days. One thing I always appreciated from the hand animated versions versus the computer rendered versions is how smooth the hand animated parries and combos were. As opposed to the heavy sluggishness of the digital version. But to each their own, of course! Really wish someone would start a new Mugan project for a forked version of SF that is solely hand animated. Could you imagine how awesome it would be to see SF 4,5 and 6 in the old style?! I’ll even take SF Alpha art style. I’m not even picky! 😂
I agree,that's why 3rd strike still looks very good to this day and look at other hand drawn fg: skullgirls, blazblue,melty and others. Sprites are timeless
@@Yadadameanfool it's not really feasible to do so anyways since using that style of animation (rotoscoping) is ridiculously time consuming and expensive which caused them to need to cut a ton of moves and characters from 13 and 12 and it ended up kinda sending SNK into financial ruin... really beautiful game and perhaps the best looking 2d fighter ever but sadly again not really feasible to make a game with those kinds of visuals again

Good God they made damn sure that if you parry a super you can either block or punish it. The SF6 team is doing their best to make sure this game becomes the best fighting game of all time.

But if you Perfect Parry by pressing the parry button just as the attack hits, everything will become slo-mo and zoom in on your character, your character will flash and you will be given total invincibility as well as great frame advantage.
I wouldnt say 3rd Strike being the peak of the franchise, maybe as the best 2D SF game but as of right now with how perfect parries are implemented here it looks to be just as if not better.

He actually needed to jump to get a bigger combo and damage otherwise he would not KO. After parrying on a neutral jump, the game puts you on a diagonal jump state. So the next fiercy kick that starts the combo is not neutral jump kick. It's foward jump kick and it aims down. Daigo had pretty deep knowledge and training when he did it.

In case you don't know, SF6 parry window is only 2-3 frames while SF3 has like 10 frames parry window. So...let me ask you one question. Between parrying with 10 and 3 frames, which one you think gonna take more skill to pull off?

Its easier in SF6 if you hold down the Parry button and do normal drive Parry but if you do this version (All Perfect Parries) then it's much harder as the timing is tighter, in this game it's a 2 frame window whereas 3rd strike is roughly 10 frames
I love how its also actually a punish again (as indicated by the "Punish Counter" thingy showing up) because I am fairly certain that Chun could have blocked in SFV (maybe I am just dumb tho)

SF6 above all else. The slowdown is what separates a normal parry with a just parry, and if you get parried that way, YOU WILL GET EMOTIONAL DAMAGE!

In kof 13 they do both 3d and 2d art to make it blend smoothly but I doubt anyone wants to animate like that anymore
