    John Farnham has an incredible voice which ranges from A2 to G5. Always watch John in a LIVE performance. He was subdued in this one, being behind the keyboard. When he is out front on stage he is a dynamo with an electric performance and sooooo charismatic. He is the ultimate showman. His interaction with his audience is amazing and they do love him ! Welcome to Rock Royalty of Australia.

    John Farnham, the greatest singer you've never heard of. His live versions are always the best. Touch of Paradise, Playing to Win, Burn for You, You're the Voice, When the War is Over, are just a few, but, his performance of Gethsemane in the Australian Cast 1992 'Jesus Christ Superstar' is amazing.

Blessed to have grown up with Farnsey as the soundtrack of my childhood, even more so to have seen him live, where he truly shines. I had tickets to see John Farnham for a Friday night concert at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Boondall in 1990ish. He had to cancel at the last minute due to illness so our tickets were transferred to a quickly scheduled matinee performance on the Sunday. He said he felt so bad about letting us all down (he didn't) so he stayed on stage for 3 1/2 hours and sang nearly all of his repertoire. A class act and a top bloke.

    Highly recommend anything from his live concert with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, including his unofficial Aussie national anthem, 'You're the Voice'.
    And his duets with Jimmy Barnes, another great Aussie rocker, are just incredible. Search for 'When something is wrong with my baby'.

    There is no music genre that John cannot sing, even opera. He is one of Australia’s best kept secrets and he turn 73 on July 1st. He has to be seen live and when I heard him sing at 70, he sounded just like he did here. John had number one albums in five consecutive decades. Even Michael Jackson couldn’t push him out of number one on the charts.
    That is the first time I have seen John play piano. You need to hear him sing Help live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra or You’re The Voice from the same concert. He still brings his musicians and back up singers but the Orchestra love to play for him because he is fun and a really great person. He is called the Voice here.

    This was originally a Beatles song but their version was more upbeat and poppy, John took it slowed it down and turned it into a Ballard. John has the distinction of having a number one hit in 5 separate decades. His stage shows are famous and he always has a great rapcore with his audience laughing a joking with them. The little joke at the beginning was he started to sing Sadie the Cleaning Lady his first hit from 1963 when he was 18 I think which was pure 60's bubble gum pop which he claims to be embarrassed of but it is still loved by his fans. He was not only a big solo artist he was the singer for a Great Aussie band called the Little River Band

    • @alankohn6709
      @alankohn6709 Před rokem

      @@malcolmrayner3480 If you listen to the words it does make an odd upbeat pop song. The only other time that I can think of a song with two such different versions is, and this may surprise, Tub Thumping. I heard a version of the song sung as a Ballard by a woman and it shocked the hell out of me it went from a upbeat silly drinking song into a crushingly tragic story of a woman being abused by a drunken husband .
      I am sure there are others but that one has always stuck with me because it was such a shock.

    John always likes to tease the audience with this piano opening as his first hit when he was 18, back in 1967 was a song called "Sadie, the cleaning lady" from his time as a teen pop idol; this version of the Beatles classic song, he performed in front of Queen Elizabeth at a Royal Variety Concert in the early to mid 70's. The best live performance is from his concert with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, I think 1989 or 1990.

    Pity you didn't listen to the one with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. He did HELP and another great song called YOU'RE THE VOICE with the MSO. One of the Beatles (John or Paul maybe) listened to his version and loved it so much that they let him know they heard it and thought it was better than their original version. They are different though - John's was slower and with an orchestra as opposed to faster and more of a rock'n'roll song originally. John is famous down here and has done a lot of work over the years. You will find his work with Olivia Newton John who you would know from GREASE. They partner up a bit down here. One good one between them is the Sydney Olympics 2000 opening ceremony where they sing DARE TO DREAM together - that's on YT.

    He's known as "The Voice", and you really, REALLY need to check out his song "You're The Voice" - czcams.com/video/tbkOZTSvrHs/video.html - if it doesn't choke you up at least a little when you consider the events in Eastern Europe the madman has set in motion, you aren't human.

    It doesn't matter that you've taken this long to find him - all that matters is that you found him. Farnham doing a duet with *anyone* is pure magic too.

    I love your 'reaction' . I am Australian and have to say I am glad I am older just to have experienced great music that is vocally and instrumentally driven and not created in a studio.
    I saw some suggestions below so hope you do those too. Just also wanted to mention that he has recently had surgery to remove a malignent tumor in his jaw. Now doing rehab - and that will be a long road. He has to learn to speak again because he lost some of his jaw. Embrace the music you can find because I know my life is a bit better for having his voice in my head. x

    The version with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra or MSO it’s probably a better one. John is the GOAT!
