Up until a couple years ago...I had never heard of John Farnham, or the name didn't ring a bell. But once I started listening to him, watching videos of his live performances I was stunned by how beautiful and powerful his voice is. John Farnham has one of the greatest voices I've ever heard.

He is the best male singer in the world in my opinion. He wasn't keen on touring overseas and being away from his wife and children and stayed in Australia. We were lucky, the rest of the world missed out. This song was written for his wife.

@@stephaniebell4272 - it's interesting your choice of words.. it's like you said: "he decided to stay home". John made his choice. the US didn't forget about him; it's just hard to keep up with someone that doesn't feel the need to come & perform in other countries except their own. How would the US even know if he had a new album out? It's like he didn't care about other countries enjoying his music. I love Farney's music; But I only knew about him through my Aussie husband. You get what you give & he didn't reach out to the rest of the world. I hope he is faring well after his cancer surgery. Prayers. x 🙏😎

John is one of those guys who actually sings better live than he does in the studio. Studio versions give you the technical perfection but live gives you that same technical perfection, plus the emotion, passion, charisma, audience participation. There is nothing better than listening to John Farnham in concert. He might not be well know in the USA but he is a Superstar in Australia and parts of Europe and the UK. Enjoy the journey. And the last time he sang live was Feb 2020 at the age of 70 just before covid hit. And still sang in the same pitch. This was also the last time that Olivia Newton-John performed live.R.I.P He was diagnosed with cancer in the mouth in Aug 22. Possibly won't sing again. But health is more important.💯🇭🇲

You haven’t heard John sing Opera yet. He was born to sing live and he is a great showman. John stops for about 10 minutes halfway through a concert to put on dry clothes.
Richard Marx told us that Sam Cooke was the best all time singer in the world but John was the best voice alive today in the world. He is loved more than he will ever know. I have watched him sing with Ray Charles and he was so careful with him. I saw John get emotional when Celine Dion sang his biggest hit, he sang it with her about halfway through. She told him she has always been his number one fan. Then I saw a video some years after Richard Marx talked about him. Richard walked on stage in Australia and played the piano for him. John is very humble and he still is amazed that famous people know him. He doesn’t think he is. All of these concerts were in Australia.
America refused to sign him and so did Australia. They made a big mistake. John has had number one albums in five consecutive decades. He is 73 now and I last saw him sing before Covid at 70. He still sounds like that. He has given us a lifetime of music. Thank you. Oh and if you are reacting to him we all show up.

He got so many knockbacks and you can see he’s just beginning to kick back here, but where he ended is so much better. He wanted to tour the US but they said he was too old. Money/risk, dickheads. Johns best work was with a an orchestra. Someone said that a singer has to compete with an orchestra, but with John it’s the other way around … so it’s all really good.

Polo! If you take another look at him, please don’t do When The War Is Over like everyone else does and get it wrong. It’s a song which holds a lot of gravity, but Johns fandom don’t allow him to execute it. They’re visibly wetting their pants over war veterans wondering how they’ll fit back into civilian life. Not his fault, but wrong for him. It’s a great song and it should be executed by the originals. Cold Chisel. Live.

Three people wrote this. The singer, the guitar player, and the producer. This song helps to explain why you haven't heard of him.. His family is his no one priority.

The other Australian singer that we have, is Guy Sebastian ,listen to his son the acoustic version of the song Battle Scars you be a fan of him also .
I would say John Farnham is the king of singing for protecting his craft with a more younger version of Guy Sebastian who can sing his heart out as well.

He’s a giant in Australia but he’s also collaborated with famous American artists too. His live concert encores were also epic, after performing for 2 hours, he and his backing vocalists would go on a kill it. You’d get a kick out of Amazing Grace which he and his backing singers dig deep and perform at the end of a live concert and his voice is still clear as a bell. Or, his arrangement and live performance at the end of a 2 hour concert of the Beatles’ cover of “Help”, it’s remarkable
