- 2016 was an up and down year for WWE. We saw a mediocre Wrestlemania but there were a ton of bright spots. We saw AJ Styles debut in WWE, Dean Ambrose Finally became WWE champion and Summerslam was a blast. The starting point for all this was the Summer of 2016. WWE announced they'd be bringing the brand split back. RAW and Smackdown would each have exclusive rosters and Smackdown would be airing live on Tuesday nights. This gave WWE the reset they needed. WWE brought in Daniel Bryan and Mick Foley as GMs for both shows and injected new life into these weekly shows. We had new rosters, new rivalries, and a new feel. Everything was reset. In this video, I talk about where the year 2016 started to really heat up and the amazing aftermath.

2016 was a special year for the Shield Fans it all started with Seth's return at Extreme Rules Seth vs Roman at Mitb and Dean winning the briefcase and his cash in on the same night a night where all the members of the Shield were wwe champions, Seth vs Roman vs Dean at Battleground with Dean winning it and taking the title on SD later on in Survivor Series we did have small Shield Reunion which was so amazing literally 2016 was the Golden year of Wrestling.
I was at the Barclay center when balor had to relinquish the title i remember being shocked after seeing him win it the previous night

It is saddening how a simple mistake costed months of Finn Balor's career only for him to return and be taken out of the universal title picture.
I seriously hope that he will be pushed if he returns to the main roster again.

I’m 17 so this is my version of the early 2000s for older wrestling fans
I was in 6th grade, some of my last days of innocence and not knowing the many struggles and stresses of life. And I absolutely fucking adored this era of wrestling.
2015 and 2016 was such a good culmination of all of the story threads and stuff initiated in 2014-15 eras. It was just a vibe. Honestly wrestling is the best when you have a good memory attached to it that has to do with your life. And 2016 was my golden year no doubt. Absolutely miss those days.

Finn Bálor is my favorite wrestler so seeing him at the peek of his career was a dream come true for me but of course the one big win he had was a title that everybody hated and he also gets injured.I’m still waiting for Finn to return to the main roster and hopefully do some big things on Raw or smack down

This card was better than wrestlemania 35 card. What a show. Demon king got an opportunity on the title. Styles vs cena is the best match in 2016. I hope this year will be as 2016.

Dean Ambrose and Dolph Ziggler feud was great and had the best feud for SummerSlam.
Finn Bálor had an amazing birthday. Winning a fatal four way match and defeated Roman Reigns clean.
Seth Rollins and Finn Bálor first time ever and great storytelling with a demon king.
Randy Orton and Brock Lesnar feud was cool. That episode of RAW when Randy hit that RKO! to Brock Lesnar that was amazing.
Charlotte Flair vs Sasha Banks on RAW in July was awesome.
Sasha Banks won the RAW Women’s Champion.
Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens as a Tag Team was entertaining.
Cesaro and Sheamus feud was cool.
Roman Reigns and Rusev feud was good. It kept Roman Reigns away from the main event.
SummerSlam 2016 was cool.
Enzo and Big Cass vs JeriKO was good.
Charlotte Flair vs Sasha Banks was cool. Charlotte Flair won 😒 that title reign was short.
Apollo Crews vs The Miz was alright.
John Cena vs AJ Styles was amazing! AJ Styles won clean.
John Cena takes a hiatus for 3 weeks after that match.
New Day vs Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson was meh.
Dolph Ziggler vs Dean Ambrose was good.
Nikki Bella returned.
WWE Universal Champion looked stupid and WWE built up the title for 4 weeks.
Seth Rollins vs Finn Bálor was awesome. Finn Bálor won The Universal Champion with an injury.
Randy Orton vs Brock Lesnar was alright. I was disappointed that this was the ending to SummerSlam.
Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho was awesome.
Sasha Banks and Charlotte Flair had good to great matches on regular basis.
Roman Reigns in the mid card was new and good.
Dolph Ziggler and The Miz feud was amazing.
Becky Lynch won the SmackDown Women’s Champion!
AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose feud was awesome.
My favorite moment in 2016 is AJ Styles winning the WWE Champion!
WWE in 2016 was a fun time to be a WWE Fan.
After WrestleMania 33 WWE went to a different direction and WWE hasn’t been the same since. Hopefully WWE gets that level of great and fun again in mid July of 2021.
I will never forget how fun 2016 was. WWE, CZcams, and life in general was awesome.

2016 was the best year of recent day WWE. Everything felt like it mattered and there was hype going into so many storylines. Truly a masterpiece
SmackDown this year is the closest we're going to get to the 2016 SmackDown. The IC Title scene is stacked, Roman's on fire, Bianca's having a good run, and the Mysterios are in the main event picture as tag champions.

A review of 2016 and Summerslam cant be complete without a mention of Mauro's commentary; he was the heir apparent to Good ole Jr and he killed it in 2016 and especially during the AJ v Cena match at this event.
Tbh that crowd pissed me off during Rollins vs Balor cause that was a damn good match and prob the best match on the card besides aj vs cena

This was the year I got back into wrestling. I was checking in and out in 2015 but 2016 was when I fully got back invested in wwe since like 07, 08 i think. There’s been bad years since but 2016 was great
As fun as this year was, Ziggler v Ambrose everyone knew ziggler was gonna lose. He’d been the first challenger to so many other stars and always lost. Same I personally didn’t like Sasha v Charlotte ping ponging the women’s title back and forth

@@SuperkickStudios so I started watching wrestling in 2016 and they just finished extreme rules and then they started to build to money in the bank and my first memory was like watching Like John cena get beat up by aj styles and the club but even the rest was interesting like rusev was very scary Apollo crews was cool to me and I loved roman reigns back then. It helped me with a lot of stuff I was dealing with back then which is why I still watch wrestling today.

AJ styles debut/year n John Cena feud, Goldbergs return, Smackdown was the best wrestling show on television, and rollins face turn n championship win at money in the bank, my favorite kevin owens winning the universal champion. 2016 post mania to summerslam was really good, after brand split, Raw got boring and SD was still good. Tbh I didn't wanted brand split, I wanted it to be like 2000 where feuds would continue to build up on SD too.
